well heres to 2 or 3 years of theories and speculation until the next prometheus movie. Me , im thinking more of weyland and that ultimate movie mystery( the space jockey) will be solved ( so to speak). I wonder if shaw will in it? I mean there is so much more to do.........!?!?!

Shaw has to be in it. If reports are correct, both Rapace and Fassbender are contracted. I'd be very surprised if there isn't a very clear indication of how the Space Jockey ended up where he did. There's always the possibility that Fox might want to spin that aspect out into more movies, but I can't see Ridley himself wanting to leave that question unresolved while he is still at the helm, so to speak.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

i feel like the filmmakers have a lot of space and options as far as constructing the narrative of the sequel (so many possible directions). having said that, judging by the way prometheus ended, the quality of the two remaining characters in the film (both are very compelling and both compliment the other), the type of story scott is trying to tell (shaw and david both play pivotal roles in said story), and the info provided by the fox producer in regards to the recent sequel announcement (apparently both rapace and fassbender are already signed on), id say its a safe bet that the experiences/ discoveries of shaw and david will be central to the second film (i certainly hope thats the case anyways). beyond that, there are just any number of possibilities. the wayland/yutani dynamic could certainly be involved in the sequel (lots going on there post-prometheus). I would imagine that we might get a flashback or two featuring guy pearce as a younger weyland. The big mystery is going to be the role of the engineers from here on out (and all of the questions that they bring with them). It seems like R Scott has implied that the xeno is going to be pushed further and further out of the future film(s). Im certainly happy to see the xeno take a back seat, but i would like to see, at some point, the engineers' relationship with the xeno fleshed out just a tad more. It almost seems like this new cinematic yarn (prometheus and beyond) could best be told through a total of three films... the second film being primarily focused on shaw, david, and the mysteries of the engineers (with a touch of weyland/yutani back-story?) and the third film swinging back just a bit towards the connection with the xenomorph, an ever so subtle nod to the derelict on lv 426, and heavy focus on "the company" with more human characters introduced. Who knows? i do know that the anticipation is VERY exciting. Im very happy with the new direction scott has taken the franchise. If the future film(s) can just build off of and bolster the strengths of the previous film(s) (while leaving some of the weaknesses behind), i think this is going to be a very enjoyable ride. Bring it on Scott!!!

Personally I think the sequel will be an even better film than Prometheus, for the following reasons. . . 1. The way Shaw and David zipped off into spaces, kinda opens up brilliantly for a sequel. But also it's an amazing move by Scott, as it physically opens the "Alien" universe even more than ever before. We'll get to see (potentially) the homeworld of these planet/life creating species. 2. I think that lessons will be learned from Prometheus i.e any negative aspects from this film will surely be absent from "Paradise", such as lack of genuine scares and too many pointless characters. and 3. Get Hans Zimmer to compose the score for this film! The music he composed for Inception and Dark Knight Rises was brilliant!

They didn't answered questions in the prometheus. Showing the engineer at the start of the movie was wrong move. If they did similar mistakes in second version, consider that a doomed movie.

Well if they get TV movie writer again, I guess every theory will be better than that writer. lol

There wasn't much to tell either... though the thing about the priest and Scully's faith was well done. He is cool with sub-plots.

"i want to believe" was actually well written in the sense that the narrative was delivered in a tight, appropriately paced fashion. For me personally, as an x files addict, the problem with the film stemmed largely from the "x file" that was being investigated. There was very little x files style paranormal stuff in the movie. Spotnitz/Carter wanted to do a standalone episode. Fine. great! i loved the standalones in the tv series! the thing is...what made the standalone episodes so enjoyable was the fact that most all of them incorporated a sense of adventure, man vs. nature, and often a "monster of the week" feel. They were exciting and really pushed the boundaries as far as the paranormal elements. All of the previously mentioned characteristics were conspicuously absent from "i want to believe". Mulder and scully were great together (their chemistry was solid), but the case they were trying to solve left a lot to be desired. In my opinion, prometheus already has a very clear narrative trajectory established. Scott is the one who is essentially guiding the film(s). Chris Carter would be a great choice because what he would bring to the table would be a tight narrative and, as david mentioned, excellent incorporation/utilization of sub-plots etc. Also, i think carter could easily get on board with the whole "heady sci-fi" approach that prometheus is going for.

joeyjow, I totally agree with you. The Acting was good, the case was the weakest link.

to reveal who the Space Jockey was - didn't to scare the pants off you - didn't so, with these two CORE things not achieved, what's the point of waiting for a Paradise RAISON D'ETRE for the BIg Head Sculpture and the butchering of the 'juggernaut's interstellar flight system i.e. Space Jockey Spacetime Telescope. :)

@freeplanet: perhaps you should disembark from the 'prometheus journey' and not worry about any of the subsequent films?? Clearly the entire situation is driving you up the wall.

I think most assuredly that the Engineers will come back to Earth in force, drop their urns and reconstruct the Aliens homeworld environment. During this time, Shaw and David make it to the Engineers home world and are catch and have to escape their captures. While they are on the run, they stumble upon many of the Engineers secrets, social structure, and overall plans for the nearby Galaxy. The Shaw and David pair are able to get space bound but find themselves in hot pursuit and land again on LV-223. David 8 sensing Deacon's presence, uses the xenomoph as a weapon against the hostile engineers. Again the are able to gain access to another ship, but not until it is take over by a infected Engineer at the helm. He crashes on the remote outpost LV-426 and dies while giving birth to a new xenomoph. This creature kills Shaw and destroys David 8. And I got ya. Now am I going to speculate on such a broad story plot. I surrender and say that we have a long wait ahead of us. Good luck intrepid sci fi fans.
