MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 8:19 AM...as David's head is dislocated from its body, this means that Shaw can 'fly' the controls while David's head sits within the enclosing helmet.
no?

MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 9:00 AMShaw might put him back together enough to restore his functions etc. Sorta like Chewbaca did with C-3PO in the second Star Wars film, although he was in many more pieces.
Beyond that, I have imagined that life support for Shaw would be a very real concern. She would be foolish if she didn't somehow keep him (David) on a short leash.
My question (in response) is:
How much WILL Shaw trust David?
She must rely on him for almost everything- Piloting/navigating the Juggernaught, interpreting the ships systems where it concerns her (again- life support, Cryosleep- if required, food, the bathroom, etc...), and talking straight with the Engineers upon arrival.
Optimistically; I believe that with Weyland dead, David would act on behalf of Shaw now (?).

MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 9:31 AMI think Shaw understands David's role in the end of Prometheus. She is careful with placing his head in the bag and there is a most polite dialogue between them.
Trust isn't going to be an issue between those two, I'm guessing.
But will David 8 be able to keep his head on his torso without stitches? I'm curious about that one. ahah.

MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 10:06 AMI like the back story that seem to be cumming out of the film that Jesus Christ was at least part engineer, it seems the engineers didn't like the way the Roman empire was going and sent a hybrid engineer human to earth to help the people realise that there can be another way of living.. thus giving us Christianity, the hole story of Jesus reads rather like a visitation from Alien beings, this is the first film I have seen that actually hints at that seriously, not that the Engineers were the makers of Jesus but the actual story rather than being supernatural could have been a visitation?. things that jump towards that being actual fact are... the star over Bethlehem could have been a ship of some kind, walking on water... could have been technology that resisted gravity, feeding the 5000.000 with pills of some kind of advanced food type, the Resurrection and assent to heaven is described in the bible rather like being taken up in to a ship. Very interesting, I would like to see that film made but I drought it will happen.
Ridley Scott has said that the engineers were cumming to destroy humanity for the Crucifixion of Jesus but something went wrong....
when you realise that a director at the top of his career cant make the film he really wanted to make because of the establishment, be that the Catholic church or Christian government you realise that we do not live in a free world at all... We live in a very controlled world and we are free to pay taxes...
Another thing that struck me was humans adorn the wall of there temples and holy places with images of there gods or dainties, for instance Christ on the cross, the Cysteine chapel ceiling with art of the moment of creation... So if the same is true with the Engineers and there genome is a total match to arse..they are a version of us and we of them, why do they have an Alien being in a rather crucified like state above a alter in a sort of chapel of death with ceiling paintings of a moment of creation... dose that mean that there Gods are the Aliens?????, did the Aliens make them (the engineers) and them in turn made us???? ..
Dare I say it!!! ARE THE ALIENS ARE GODS?....

MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 10:15 AMI think allot of people thought that too aliens are the gods or one alien like being (possibly were the black goo is from) - guessing from the murals etc. .....

MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 10:18 AMso..... back on topic... can David's head fit in the 'helmet' part of the seat while Shaw drives the controls part of the seat.
If I was SHAW no way would I reattach David to his head, plus it's a mainstay of the film, the head's being separated from the bodies - this is an olde worlde waye to warn off invaders/transgressors/dissidents, the severed head.

MemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 11:29 AMIf that's the way they want to play it, then anything is possible and could happen with or without explanation.
This film is ripe with unexplained theories. It is full of concepts that are unknown to some of the audience. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if the next film's script had Shaw and David arriving at the Engineer's home world in a state and going about whatever they are doing with little if any connection to this film.
Kinda like this film's not being in harmony with the original.

Social LiasonMemberOvomorphJul-12-2012 5:24 PMI'm not sure about any manual flying-I think its a possibility with Davids head in the helmet and Shaw on controls.
I believe that David may have had access to flight information from the other ship and will programme their flight to Paradise- on that note it was weird how David was learning languages- I would have thought he would have just downloaded it directly

MemberOvomorphJul-13-2012 12:09 PM@kane77-
Shaw is indeed a Believer. But David was (during the mission before Weyland was killed) the most deceiving and manipulative type of individual, and not to be trusted by Shaw or anyone who experienced his agenda.
I mentioned earlier that with Weyland dead, David's sense of purpose might now be to work with Shaw.

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 8:12 AMWho needs the other more: Shaw needs David's knowledge..and fast processing speed.
But David needs Shaw to execute any physical action...David will give Shaw just enough assistance to get back together,,,then he can take over the storyline..communicate with any Engineers..Creators..and even rebuild himself as needed..

MemberOvomorphJul-26-2012 3:07 AMI'd like to add here that it's not been CONFIRMED (at all) that Shaw/David are actually in that 'second juggernaut' that takes off at the end of Prometheus.
It's just IMPLIED that it's them.
Seriously.

MemberOvomorphJul-28-2012 4:56 AMOoops sorry to take you off your hot topic...
I dont think a android that is decapitated can function let alone talk so well, remember Ash, he was for more advanced than David I would imagine but he had to be re wired and his voice was at lest grizzled .
Are we to think by this all David's vital parts are located in his head?.
I don't feel Ridley Scott should me the director of no2...
past his creative best I think... Alien is creatively far better.
bet Shaw can't play the flute lol

MemberOvomorphJul-28-2012 8:09 AMI'm hoping David's head gets reattached. I don't think David is evil, he was just following Weyland's orders. Plus he seemed to have a genuine interest of sorts in Shaw so I don't think he means her any harm.
