A lot of the ideas people have about Prometheus are accurate for certain drafts of the script, but the question is what did they finally go with at the motivation for the Engineers wanting to destroy us, on a very personal level too. There was no doubt that last Engineer wanted everybody dead, even if meant using his bare hands to do it. There was very personal hatred there, he wasn't just doing his job or something.

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 10:04 PMWell his job apparently was to wipe out the entire human race, and he was asleep in preparation for that mission.
Next thing he knows, he is woken up by humans and their own creation, David... which is a bit ironic, and possibly an abomination to his religious beliefs (his temple seems to be about death rather than creation.)

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 10:04 PMReally I think there are a multitude of explanations as to why the space jockeys seemed to hate humans so much. Maybe humans turned out imperfect in some way. Maybe they look at us the same way some of the humans viewed David, as less then them. A cheap copy.
The latest theory that I personally have is that the space jockeys didn't intend to create humans at all. We are just a catalyst to create the xenomorph. Because when you think about it, that space jockey mural had what looked like a xenomorph on it. Maybe humans weren't the final product of the space jockeys creation.

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 11:29 PMI don't think that the hatred the Engineer had for humans was from direct knowledge of us, rather it was because we were created by a different faction of Engineer which he is at war with, and he hates everything they do. Plenty of examples of that right here on Earth between religious factions destroying the children, homes, churches, temples and sacred monuments of whoever they disagree with.
