MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 1:05 AMLet's face it, there's definitely a chance that the people entrusted with Prometheus are better at viral marketing than telling a complete story. So far, I think the marketing has been great, except that it gave away too much. Does this marketing over-promise? Maybe. Should we blame them if it does? Of course! But, if they deliver on their promise, then kudos to them! I'll have an honest reaction either way. If people get ticked off because they feel they got duped, it wouldn't be anything new, that sort of thing has been going on forever.

MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 1:19 AMI wholeheartedly agree that the marketing campaign for Prometheus has been of the most impressive I've seen for any film to date. The TED talk and David viral videos alone blow most viral campaigns out of the water.

MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 8:19 AMI think the marketing definitely gave way to much away. The long trailer was basically an edited down version of all the major points in the film and anyone who studied the trailer and thought about the imagery would have worked out the story for the film. I know I did, and it spoilt the film for me as there were really no surprises. That's the last time I watch a trailer! lol

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 9:32 PMThe Viral videos esp the TED talk were clever. The trailer showing the prometheus hitting the Alien ship was too much of a giveaway.
