MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:18 PMWe saw in Alien that Ash's standing orders from Mother were to gather the specimen from the Derelict. This raises certain questions such as -
Surely something either Xenomorph related DOES happen in Prometheus, and this is what Weyland/Yutani respond to with those orders in Alien??
Or. . .
Those orders were actually mistakingly about the wrong organism entirely??

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:28 PMbut how can they happen in prometheus prometheus isnt a prequal its only in the same universe. prometheus ending leads into a 37 year gap that ridley will not fill. In that gap Weyland merges with its rival Yutani, Peter weyland is missing or dead, David model androids are replaced by the Ash model. The Guy in the chair will be revealed but i dont think hes anything to do with the prometheus film i think hes a totally different story.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:28 PMThere is no right or wrong organism to them. As Ripley put it in Alien 3, "THEY JUST WANT IT." Plus it looks like any hostile organism found in the Alien universe, those damned Jockeys had a hand in it.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:30 PM@TheEgg - Indeed! Also I know it's set in the same universe, which means what happened/happens in Prometheus WILL have happened in the Alien "universe" aswell, so what happens does indirectly affect the other :)

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:30 PMI think prometheus will be a story about the race of engineers but the engineers in this film are not the engineer on LV-426, i think hes on a different mission. Its like having a Spiderman film and the main bad guy is The lizard but right at the end in another part of town Dr octavious is in a lab doing some research, i think it will hint not reveal.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:37 PMGood points, I just think Ridley Scott will make the film exactly what he said it will be. Set in the same universe, but not a prequel (as a prequel is stated as tying in directly with the subsequent following film). . . But as in Alien, the company issued those orders, it must relate to something that happens in Prometheus. Is my view.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 5:53 PMThis order would exist whether they had knowledge of the specific lifeform or not. If you found an alien lifeform, then bring a sample home for study. I mean, why WOULDN'T you? Wouldn't that be way more important than a refinery or a bunch of deadhead truckers? I'd be more surprised if this order did not already exist prior to Prometheus.
"I just saw an alien!"
"Well, shit, bring it home!"
You don't really need any secret orders to know that this is a universal imperative.

"I just saw an alien!"
"Take a photo with your camera phone. Then nuke the planet from orbit. After our experiences with those SJ £uckers you can't be too careful."
