MemberTrilobiteMay-15-2012 6:18 AMOf course the months and months of speculation will end in a mere 2-3 weeks from now, and up to now there have been a lot of theories, some interesting, some lame and some that must have been concocted under heavy medication.
Anyways, pretty much from day 1 I, and others, have been saying that Prometheus is a Space Jockey film, and only a Space Jockey film that will not feature, in any way the Alien/Xenomorph either as we know it, or a re-imagined version (original/new form).
However, there is another camp of thought that suspects that the creatures we will see in Prometheus will in fact be a re-imagined version of the beloved Alien/Xenomorph.
Of course each camp has its own arguments to support their cause and against the opposition, which usually bleeds into the discussion in other threads.
So I'm wondering, which camp are you in, and why?
Unfortunately BH has not, yet, implemented a poll option for threads so I will keep a tally of who is what camp as you all post your position.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 6:35 AMI'm on the fence - I wouldn't be surprised if we see an early form of the xenomorph creature, then again I won't be disappointed if we don't either. I think it's going to be great either way.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 6:37 AMSpace Jockey camp! This being and its story has haunted me for 33 years. We've already been Alien'd to death.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 7:02 AMIt's hard to argue against those who say the xeno will be "re-imagined". Not because they are right, but since we will see some alien organisms, how do you define "re-imagined"? I think the term re-imagiend only applies if this movie is a reboot, and it is definitely not that from what I can tell so far, so I say the xeno will not be re-imagined, what we will see is just a differernt part of the story.
I also don't think we will see an early ancestor to the xeno. I would like to believe that the xeno has already been created and in use for a long time.
So, I think this movie will focus on the SJ/Engineers, while of course we will see some alien organisms, but no xenos as we know them.

MemberDeaconMay-15-2012 7:33 AMI dont know anymore.....
I was going for the.....
No Xeno..... but Xeno explained as what killed off the Engineers, and we would see a scene that would be set before Prometheus that would show the Derelict that landed on LV426 and show a Egg Chamber with one Egg opened or something, there would have not been any need to show a Xeno, Face Hugger or Chest Burster....
It now seems thats not the case, and we would see 1 Derelict that dont land on LV 426, we wont see LV 426 and the only Aliens in this movie are...
Tiny Worm....
Cobra Xeno
Mutated Crew
Space Jockey who shrinks latter in movie....
I fear this could be a wasted opportunity.....
Mind you i guess thats what you get when you have Damon Lindelof on the team.....
Unless his usual mind F£"!$ way of doing things gives us a twist.... and thats that someone becomes a Space Jockey some how?
If its Holloway or Weyland then that would not be the ideal way i wanted the movie to go, but would be some saving Grace to explain the size changing Engineer.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 7:56 AMI am hoping for something new.
The Alien can't be done any better then it already has in the Original Alien

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 8:27 AMSo much has been revealed already, but RS mentions "Biological and Biomechanoid" creatures. Lindleof has also said we will see a progenitor of Alien, and made the comment that "something" had to lay all those eggs on the derelict, right?
There IS a creature that is being hidden from us still. As the snake and engineer isn't so scary, I hope we're in for a major surprise.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 8:35 AMim on the space jockey camp. But we have seen kind of a "xeno" in the mural, if that counts as one? but otherwise i would be happy with just a SJ movie. there has been, still is, and will be more mystery and deepth to the SJ character. The xeno was a great antagonist in the first movie. Just a violent, instinct driven, evil soul. Just what a haunted house(in this case spaceship) needs.
SJ are interesting becuase they remind me of us. They build, they explore, they destroy.

MemberTrilobiteMay-15-2012 10:11 AM@ aintnozeno - So you in the Alien camp then?
IMO Nothing laid the eggs in the Derelict, the eggs where gathered from a world where they had been deployed and done their thing, and once all hosts were eliminated the Xeno's died leaving behind the eggs, which were gathered up inside the Derelict, simple really.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 10:13 AMThe xeno's have been around for a while....whatever it is, it's something new. (No "protoxeno", that would be stupid and not needed.)
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.
