MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 3:55 AMSo that viral video has popped up on the internet, I personally loved it! BUT, does anyone also think that in Prometheus, we're gonna see the true "Gods" that Weyland mentioned in that video. Well he stated that humans were now that, but they'll obviously be proved wrong come the Prometheus mission. . .

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 4:04 AMSeems to me that "hubris" will be a defining theme of the movie. And hubris invites Nemesis...

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 5:47 AMVery true. . . Weyland will learn a lesson from what happens in Prometheus! Well actually he probably didn't, as in the Alien movies Weyland Yutani was still obsessed with possessing the Xenomorph for genetic/bio warfare reasons!

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 7:19 AMJust wondering, but is the entire TED website part of the viral campaign, or just that Weyland video? Are the other videos on the TED website somehow related to the movie?

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 7:55 AMI like the new theory going around that Peter Weyland is the old guy in the wheelchair we've seen in the trailer. Might suggest some kind of aging disease, and Weyland is out to find the fountain of youth. A little cliche, but if it leads to bad-ass aliens/space jockeys/whatever, I say BRING IT ON!

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 7:57 AMA self possessed egoist taking the stage at a Technology Worth Spreading event, and lest we forget if synthetic lifeforms are one of the topics of discussion it wasn't Weyland Industries that built them it was Tyrell Corporation "More Human than Human". If he's going to straddle the fence and take on a sequel to both films then DO IT ALL THE WAY or not at all.

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 9:06 AMI'm a little surprised that a perfectionist like Ridley decided to go with Cameron's spelling of 'Weyland' instead of Ridley's original spelling 'Weylan'.

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 9:26 AMI think that in the end it will come down to one big question; Who is the bigger monster, Humans or Aliens?

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 9:46 AMAs soon as I saw the video I immediately made the connection between Pearce and the guy in the wheelchair. The last scenes that were shot just before the movie wrapped, were shot in Spain. They were scenes between Pearce and Fassbender. I remember hearing something about a fight scene and a watertank and a yacht, or ship(could have meant space-ship) If Fassbender isnt around till late in the century, some time near 2085, then what are the two characters doing in the same scenes together? I think the story that Pearce is only in the film for a minute is nothing but dis-information. Why would a big name actor like him take a part that is only a bit part? Nah, I dont believe it! In fact, I think a major twist in the story line probably revolves around Pearce's character.
In the trailer, the old man looks frail, and Kate Dickie is leading him by one arm. The two guys with the guns are like bodyguards. One of em also appears in the wheelchair scene, sitting beside the old man.

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 10:10 AMThe TED site has been around for years and is not part of the viral campaign as some rather over zealous members seem to think. One guy even thinks the links to other videos on the page all give hints at the story line! REAd the link to the interview with the writer and how he approached TED to host the video. CALM DOWN my fellow bug hunters - only 99 days now!

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 11:26 AMI have to second Facehugger. I have been watching TED talks for years, before the first inklings of Prometheus even existed. This site has nothing more to do with the viral campaign than that sole video. Thinking otherwise will be an exercise in futility, so save your brain cells! : )

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 11:57 AMI dont think that Ridley scot wont show any Alien forms in the movie becouse many fans would be very VERY disapointed... but in the other way it could be possible that in the movie or possible next (alien) episode movie we could see for example Ripleys parents or grand parents and how wayland corp. got in there.... who knows whats going to happend......... can not wait anymore 99 days...

MemberOvomorphMar-01-2012 2:37 AMI really preferred the name Bishop Weyland to Peter Weyland, but if that ends up as my only gripe with the eventual film, then I'll be happy. Also, this preface blows Alien Versus Predator completely out the water - which is probably welcomed by most - but I thought Lance Henriksen portrayed Weyland to good effect in that film.

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2012 4:26 AMYeah I think that Weyland IS the old man in the wheelchair! Well in fact, doesn't the Prometheus mission a good few years after that 2023 conference?? So maybe he's simply, just an old man come the time of the movie. . .
