Co-AdminMemberOvomorph02/12/2012Ridley Scott has only said he's interested in doing another one. Not that there definitely will be one.
"Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups" I think that's a quote from the bad guy in Under Siege 2. And I think it's a pretty good one.
Never assume anything, in my opinion.

MemberOvomorph02/12/2012I would be quite dissapointed if this film does end by setting up an obvious sequel ('Alien' excluded of course).

Co-AdminMemberOvomorph02/12/2012@PrometheusForTheWin, where did you get the idea that this movie was Sigourney Weaver's idea? It wasn't, she just suggested that if Ridley did something like this that he make it on the Alien's homeworld....... Far as I know the idea has been kicking around since the late 90's............ Just curious is all, I know she likes to think of the Alien franchise as Ripley's and Ripley's alone (at least that's how it seems to me sometimes........)

I am certain that quote is far more ancient than..."Under Siege 2".....The mother of all fuckups will be to assume it did....lol......(seeing as it is one of my favorite quites)....
Where did anyone mention Sigourney?

MemberOvomorph02/12/2012@Cypher...I could not agree more about Weaver....You almost feel like she's more than alittle responsible for where the series went.......
PrometheusForTheWin
MemberOvomorph02/12/2012It was in an interview that she suggested the idea for the movie to Ridley and said he should elborate on her plan, as she is not a director. I dunno if I would like if the movie ended in an obvious sequel, it was just an idea about whether it would be good.

yeah i know about the interview.....but their was no mention of Weaver in your thread...
Anyway....nevermind....to return to your topic......their definately will be a follow up....as long as this first Prometheus does well at the box office.....I mean their almost always is a sequel or prequel!....lets just hope that ridley keeps his creative vision and forces it upon the next director....assuming afcause that he does not direct it himself!

MemberOvomorph02/12/2012I can't agree with this notion that 'Prometheus' was Sigourney Weaver's idea....in every interview on the topic, she refers to going back to the planet of origin to "wipe them out at the source"...............she's talikng about another xeno movie with Ripley leading the charge, the cause, whatever...pulse rifle in hand, so to speak.
'Prometheus' is another story entirely. The focus is different...the SpaceJockey race. The chronology is different. The whole point of the thing is different.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorph02/12/2012Lol sorry should have clarified I spotted a status update PrometheusForTheWin had up earlier..... that's what I was referencing :-P
@juxtapose..... "Assumption is the mother of all fuckups" it was the first time I'd heard it and it stuck with me ever since. That was the only reason I mentioned Under Siege 2. The first one was better :-D
@craigamore yeah Sigourney Weaver pisses me off sometimes. I'm pretty sure you're right, and I think Ridley took that idea and went a different direction with it. I heard that she tried to block any movie being made regarding the Aliens if Ripley wasn't involved. If Ripley had died at the start of Alien 3 and Hicks and Newt had survived instead, I reckon it could have been a far better movie. She's a good actress, but has her head up her arse.

MemberOvomorph02/13/2012I think a sequel to Prometheus would take place on the Alien homeworld, and we'll find out just why Weyland Yutani are so damn interested in the creature. . .

MemberOvomorph02/14/2012WHoa...slow your roll there @PrometheusForTheWin........yeah, the topic's about Shaw, but you opened the door with your status update and when you responded to someone's post about it...so calm down and be patient here....we'll get to that....the moment you respond to @Cypher, you must accept that people will take the opportunity to comment, this is a forum...it happens all the time.....Cool your jets buddy.....
....About Shaw...it's too early to tell. We're operating on far too little to seriously approach a question that big...I mean, she's the apparent protagonist...one that obviously goes through a lot physically and emotionally and we're not even sure what happens first, the supposed alien pregnancy business or the crash at the end of the trailer....who knows.....either way, knowing Ridley, I can see a sequel with or without Shaw.....He's just that that kind of batshit crazy genius.....
@Cypher, There really is something nebulous and self aggrandizing about the way Weaver approached the sequels and you just feel like she's squirming in her seat about 'Prometheus', like she can't bear the idea it might surpass any sequel she was eminently inolved in or even responsible for....
