From "Film" Online Written on February 24, 2011 by Brendon Connelly. Disclaimer; while I realize this article is 10 months old, it suggests that the info contained was provided by inside sources involved in the making of the film. What is also very interesting is everything he mentions has now been confirmed by secondary sources now {except for the Biggie reveal}, which in all probability and IMO he is right about as well. Quite simply: it has the Alien aliens in it. I know I’m not the only person on the UK blogging and film writing scene to have heard these rumours, and we almost certainly heard them from the same or associated sources, but I’ve gone on to speak with another party. Despite this individual having to be rather careful about what they were saying, they certainly didn’t quash the story. So. Let’s go with it. How does Ridley Scott’s Prometheus fit into universe of the Alien films? Quite simply: it has the Alien aliens in it. The catch, though, is that you might not recognise them – at least, not at first. Remember how the alien took on canine qualities after gestating in a dog? You may even suppose that the first film’s alien was so recognisably humanoid because it had grown in a human. The same applies here: generation by generation, the creature mutates. As Prometheus begins, the xenomorph is not too recognisable. Sure, it has that alien DNA that Scott and Fassbender teasingly referred to, but it’s missing… well, it’s missing human DNA. Or dog DNA. All you have to do is imagine how it might look if it were to mix DNA with another alien species… and I think we’re starting to work it all out. I learned that the film’s setting is, in part, a planet that has been terraformed to create the perfect environment in which a particular bioweapon would prosper. Terraformed deliberately to farm the weapon? I got no clear answer. Is this bioweapon the alien? I got no clear answer. While there was a lot of wheezing and coughing on my end of the phone, there was a good deal of quiet smirking on the other, it seems. I did ask if the film is really going to be called Prometheus. The answer? “Maybe not. Though they are calling it that for a reason.” Sadly, I was not able to confirm the rumoured use of an 8-foot animatronic Space Jockey, but the way I was told “there’s nothing we’re calling a space jockey here” just led me to believe, perhaps erroneously, that it would be the same character, or at least species, but with a new name. On past information, that name would seem to be “The Engineer”, but I may be getting ahead of myself to join those particular dots so readily when their sources aren’t the same. Anyway. The only thing I’m completely sure of here is that Prometheus does indeed take place in the same universe as Alien, and in this universe there’s a big terraforming operation going on, somehow related to the classic Giger xenomorph.

"I learned that the film’s setting is, in part, a planet that has been terraformed to create the perfect environment in which a particular bioweapon would prosper." wow, that is HUGE ! And it may even hold a great sway and influence regarding the crashing Derelict scene's implication. It could very well be that the Jockey was on his way to some as of yet unidentified to any of us planet with his cargo because he/"The Engineer's" are in the middle of this Bio-Weapons Project...using Terraforming to accomplish it... and NOT the company. He could be delivering goods for the terraforming operation.

This is from almost a year ago...no idea how much is accurate, but probably not much (no mention of the Von Daniken/beginning of Mankind angle or ampules/crew mutation thing implied in the trailer). This version actually sounds like a good basis for a legitimate "Alien prequel" rather then Prometheus which apparently is more of a spin-off.

everything he reported 10 months ago has come to be confirmed as I mentioned. and that's a FACT. Also, you really should read the threads you post in before you do. 'cause it is clear you did not read this one properly and quite frankly I am tired of your ill intended insults.

The Jockey chamber and "Engineer" (which had previously been mentioned by the Fall 2010 Vulture report) have obviously been confirmed, but the terraformed planet and giant aliens (the bulk of the article) haven't yet. Ridley has said the film does not revolve around the alien, but more around the "birth of man" angle. The info in the above report sounds much more like an Alien prequel than the film Riddles has said he's making...additionally, the crew being mutated by the contents of the ampules (which appears to the case) doesn't gel with the "pure strain/giant alien" thing. It COULD be true, but there's evidence against it, it seems... BTW, this Vulture article was extraordinarily on the money (at least regarding characters names)! The story mentioned by Vulture, however...not to much (it's not an Alien reboot). :P Fall 2010 Vulture Article

Um....what "ill intended insults" are you talking about?

MemberOvomorph01/1/2012
Really, the first mention of "Paradise" (the film's working title), Elizabeth Shaw played by Noomi Rapace, David the android played by Michael Fassbender, "Vickers", and a giant Engineer 1 is "totally wrong"? Better tell Ridley then.

"Stay out of your threads"? What precisely is your problem, man? Very nice welcome to this forum...how about YOU don't talk to ME from now on?

Spartacus, that sounds very plausible to me. I've read where people try to say Xenos are not weapons, but they have to be. In Alien, Ripley figured out the beacon was some sort of warning, meaning what they were carrying was definitely dangerous. The use of "same DNA" by Scott is definitely telling to me.

OK this is the very last thing I will ever say to you because you are LOST. #1- I posted this info CLEARLY to discuss the comment made regarding THIS FUCKING COMMENT "I learned that the film’s setting is, in part, a planet that has been terraformed to create the perfect environment in which a particular bioweapon would prosper." THAT'S ALL! NOT YOUR CAST INFORMATION WHIICH IS COMPLETELY USELESS AND EVERYONE HERE HAS BEEN THROUGH 500 TIMES ALREADY!!! #2-THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE DONE THIS EITHER...IT'S ENOUGH NOW, GIVE IT A REST.

^^^ Ahhhhh... davidkyle, "Alien DNA" was most likely metaphorical, however DNA could indeed play an element...however, it seems more likely given the mutation/dawn of man themes in the film, through the ampules discovered in the trailer - one of which David is seen examining and seemingly containing some sort of biological organism.

Good post Spartacus. I like it. Very plausible. The Alien is there but we can't recognise it. Brilliant. This is the sort of stuff we need to keep the debates going. I've been asking the question - What is the first every xeno? ... Is it adult or egg or spore or what? No definitive answers yet. And what will it look like if it inevitably takes on the characteristics of it's host. The possibility of the crew mutating into adult xenos is a plausible theory I guess.

Honestly the thought of the crew mutating into xenomorphs (at any stage) would be intense beyond belief. The part that has me concerned is the alien-impregnation concept. What type of 'alien' would she give birth to? Seeing as she does not die in the process, and this is pre-face-hugger, it seems like the creature actually survives. Does she lay the first egg? (I'm not suggesting that as a plausible theory, just saying...) My question is how do we get to a ship filled with Alien eggs.....
