MemberOvomorph12/31/2011And going off course abit..
(as a Briton, given how many UK characters there are in this film, it does feel frustrating to know that the cute swede who's the main character is to have a 'love interest' with not a Brit but an american. Whats wrong with a british guy?)
Frantz
MemberOvomorph12/31/2011that was a bit explained ...they have a sort of conflictual relationship ...she is a beliver ..hes not , he rely only on science ... so i think its to give more "weight" to moral implications .
Plus there is , probably ( we are not sure ) , the pregnancy sideplot
Guy Pearce is australian
Elba is british
Fassbender is german
Rapace is sweden
Rafe spall english
Theron south african
PAtrick wilson e Green are american
very worldwide cast :p

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011I always thought about love interests in space this way...anything is big flashing green light for a go...
it doesn't matter because the trump card is that human nature gives us that anyone alone or on a ship with few people in space for any length of time is going to have moments when they have feelings of this nature....and then act on them... It's what being Human is All About!

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011Frantz, I hope there's no pregnancy, and hope it'll constitute to something minor.
I actually like the idea made by someone else in the forum, Shaw gets abducted and impregnated by force from the Engineers better.
It's assumed she's bruised and how likely is one going to do it with the bad bruises seen on her legs? It doesn't really make sense.
Furthermore, she is seen running at the near end with Theron.

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011I always think Scott was interested in exploring the human relationships in any place. In ALIEN there are some ideas that float over the movie (and when you see the deleted scenes and the conversation between Ripley and Lambert after Dallas' death is clearly confirmed): seven people months or years together (main of the time in hibernation, true, but not all time), alone. Inevitably, the relationships (sexual and maybe deeper) between them appeared with no doubt. I think is a theme which get unexplored in ALIEN that could be treated in this one.

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011Yes but will it lead to something bigger, such as the origin of man or the xeno's??
I don't want to see the alien as the product of two people in space. I've always regarded it as an elegant creature of its own race - if it's related to the SJ race, so be it.
Must man be the root of everything?

Damn I did not read that one and I like it a lot, the darker and more sinister this thing is I think the more I am going to enjoy it.

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011Hahaha...
I think it's impossible (at least for me) to read everything in these forums... tons, tons and tons of information and theories!
Spartacus
MemberOvomorph12/31/2011so true Fleischman...by the way, did you do your Bar-Mitzvah phonetically or did you understand everything you were saying?
I had no clue what I was singing and saying...lol.

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011the bruises on noomi leg should be from the "dust storm" scene ....she do a big fly ...

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011Thx a_j216!
You can read the slightly-lunatic-and-admittedly-speculative abduction theory here:

Love the DJ guy!

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011Ridley said "the movie is about everything".. I guess love is one of everything then... lol

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011I still believe this whole love story thing is a fabricated fanboy piece and it won't have anything to do with the film. There is so much stuff that has been fabricated since day one just due to peoples ideas on what an image is showing that it is hard to ascertain what has been made up and what hasn't been. Scott has said nothing, nowhere about some silly love story/pregnancy being a part in this.
Somebody saw a puffy belly. Saw a dude with his head in his hands and a leg on a bed and whammo.....Love story. lol
Frantz
MemberOvomorph12/31/2011its not fanboy made ..its from an interview of Rapace ..she explain that her character and Green character are engaged even if their relactionship is a bit conflictual . The main reason of conflict in the mission is that her character is a beliver in God and a bit naive while Green character belive in science ... so there is an engagement of some sort ( i dont see the point of Rapace to lie about that )

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011"one half of a conflicted couple" from Scott, not Rapace. so I guess I missed that part and I am still not buying how much is being made of this plotline.
This still goes along with my original post in this thread.....there is SO much speculation about the film that large parts of that speculating has been adopted as factual now.

MemberOvomorph01/1/2012Miser, when Logan Marshall-Green was cast, it was stated he was playing Noomi's "romantic interest", which Ridley confirmed in a recent interview. I'll try to see if I can find the exact quote. But you're right, in that anything beyond that (the pregnancy) is speculation/rumor.
I agree it was a bit strange at first - the previous films in the universe didn't fall into the typical "Hollywood" trap - but I assume/hope it will serve some function in the plot and between the characters and advance the plot, rather than feeling shoehorned-in.

MemberOvomorph01/2/2012BTW, I'm not sure the expanding belly is even Rapace at all. As someone on IMDB pointed out, the face if the woman on the examining table (of which we got a clear shot in the recent first teaser teaser) doesn't look like Noomi...so, possibly another character altogether.
