This scene is from the trailer where the seat is elevated into the chamber.
This creature looks as if it's heading to the seat.
Is it the Space Jockey without his elephant suit?

Here is a close-up.

MemberOvomorph12/28/2011Yes, also better known as an "Engineer" or a guy who is part of the race known as "Engineers".
Spartacus
MemberOvomorph12/28/2011Also, According to some of the very intelligent minds here on this web site we are lucky enough to have in good company with us, we now know as well that he is a much larger than Human form and in the Chair is actually wearing a BIomechanical suit.
Hybrid
MemberOvomorph12/28/2011It appears to have 4 fingers as well. Fits in with the theory that eventually our pinky's will opt out of existence, and would support the theory that the Jocky's are highly evolved humans/humanoids.

MemberOvomorph12/28/2011Jacked-up biomechanical giants with spooky super hi-tech could be more than scary enough, if they're sufficiently ruthless/malevolent. I thought Michael Mann did a good job with a similar archetype in "The Keep," for example.

MemberOvomorph12/28/2011Someone aboard the Prometheus ship gets infected by the engineer gene. I know that's a stretch. But this film is a study of the origin of the xenomorphs. You would think that the engineers were intelligent enough to leave their DNA to mingle with someone's so their plans would be carried out, no matter what happens. The human head is an invite to the unsuspecting but surely its a "bulletin", for lack of better terms, to remind the engineers whom they are sent to destroy.

MemberOvomorph12/28/2011I don't think it's a space jockey.. I bet one of the crew members turns into something that can run the ship..
Juxtapose
MemberOvomorph12/29/2011yeah i am not gonna jump to any conclusions....tho it is very likely that what we see is in fact the space jockey...it could also be....anything?....maybe a crew member or android that mutated?

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011I am still going with the notion that Scott originally said there would be a third, more dangerous alien being in this movie.
Micro changes in air density
MemberOvomorph12/29/2011I believe this is the jockey/engineer. He has just activated the pilot gear and is readying for take off.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011By the way, I thought about this all night also, and Snoklebottom suggested to me this morning that it is perhaps not and I think that makes far better sense given the size, but I remember someone saying realy early come to think of it now that it could not be because the scale was all off.
In retrospect I was wrong to post my answer in the wording I did before re thinking it better.
I should have made it clear that we just do not know...Yet.
My sincere apologies to the community and most of all to Zeuss, please don't stick a lightning bolt up my ass a la Samuel L Jackson in Die Hard With a Vengeance.
LOL.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011A question that I don't know if it has been discused in another thread:
Does anybody think about the chair is raising? And what we know, because of ALIEN, that is under that seat? Mmm...
Spartacus
MemberOvomorph12/29/2011I noticed that in the trailer, that it is Rising up from below.
Thought it was cool but you took it further than I did.
I Bet that'll spark a new discussion.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011by the way @Spartacus: great job about Giger and Egyptian Art. I have just read it...

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011If you look at the whole shot, you can see that one of what looks like "coffins" or I suppose some sort of suspended animation chamber is open. It appears there are four in total (one maybe behind the "gun" chair). So I suppose also the huge humanoid "space jockey" must have come out of there? Also, I am not sure, but do you notice that the "coffins" look sort of Egyptian?

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011@Macs:
I must have been blind not to see that "coffins". Good eye! Is that figure waking up his friends? Is even that figure a space-jockey or is Sir Ridley hiding them until the release?
Questions, questions, questions...

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011By the way, check this out: there is a good analysis on the trailer in this blog. This guy makes a mention to that "coffins":

That's actually a great analysis IMO. Worth the read.

Ok, I like this review. Thanks for sharing.

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011I'm not so sure that this is the Space Jockey. As Hybrid clearly points out, the humanoid in the OP's enhanced picture has 4 fingers. If you go back and watch Alien, in the Space Jockey scene, there are clearly 5 fingers. So, it could be one of two things: This humanoid is not the Space Jockey, or this is a small detail that was left out in Prometheus.
For reference, if you pause this link at :51, you can clearly see the Space Jockey has 5 fingers (assuming the thumb is out of sight on the other side of the "arm rest").
