MemberOvomorph12/27/2011I've been reading a lot recently about the fact that Prometheus may have a lot to do in concept with the Greek story of Prometheus, which does sound correct. But I was also thinking that it could also refer to the story of Frankenstein, creating life, playing God and that kind of thing. The proper title for Mary Shelleys book after all is
'Frankenstein : or The Modern Prometheus.' Just seems people are concentrating on the Greek mythology side of things. It does seem that the humans in Prometheus will probably start things in motion that lead to creating a new lifeform, no doubt by changing at least one of the main characters going by what we've seen in the trailer.
I know the Greek story is of Prometheus being punished by having his liver eaten over and over, and that people are matching that to the chestbursters, but I just thought I would put the whole Frankenstein creating life side of things out there.

MemberOvomorph12/28/2011I recently watched episode 1 of a documentary called "Prophets of Science Fiction", produced and partially hosted by Sir Ridley Scott. The first episode was about Mary Shelley. So I would guess "Prometheus" is tied to Frankenstein and the idea of it being "The Modern Prometheus."
Juxtapose
MemberOvomorph12/28/2011Their is parallels between the two stories...very obvious ones....but that IMO is all their is... it is a very keen observation tho!

MemberOvomorph12/28/2011I guess it is going to be elements from both that will be used for the main framework of the story. We shall see.
