From Prometheus News.net. ‘I’m running around in underwear’ – Naomi on Prometheus Posted December 10, 2011 by Jonesy In a recent interview with the New York Times, Naomi briefly mentioned Prometheus and gave a little more information out. In June she will star as a scientist with a deep faith in God in Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus,” his fiercely guarded science-fiction offshoot of “Alien” for which he cast her from their first meeting. “I didn’t tell her but decided she would be the female lead in ‘Prometheus,’ ” he wrote in an e-mail. “My first impression was how different she was from the person in ‘Dragon.’ I realized here was a great actress. The real thing.” Directing her, he added, was one of the best experiences he has had. “It’s my first big American movie in which she’s the heart,” Ms. Rapace said of her character, Elizabeth Shaw. “She’s the one you follow to the end.” Ms. Rapace’s unwillingness to shrink from physical torment — “In some scenes, I’m running around in underwear, doing things that are quite hard core,” she said of Elizabeth Sounds a little like Ripley. ""Ms. Rapace’s unwillingness to shrink from physical torment"" that explain what we see in the trailer ...so she is probably the first to "fall" or being "contaminated".... but she will not bow thanks to her faith or willing force ?? ....more and more interesting ...

I think you nailed that dead bang on Frantz !

Perhaps a mutated fetus is growing inside and it may be dangerous for her and the crew and they want to abort it. Being of strong faith would prevent her from that and she would resist them believing that God was right whatever the reasons for her condition. Could be related to what she is heard to say in the leaked teaser: "You've got to stop." - may be a person trying to tell her to stop the pregnancy "help me, help me please" "I was wrong." "We were so wrong." "I'm so sorry." - her realizing she should have aborted the creature.

Very interesting idea ...even if the "we were so wrong" contraddict it a bit ...btw you are sure that all the trailer phrases are from noomi ? Some sound a bit different ...but not of english mother ( and neither cousin ) language ...

Biomechanic

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
Frantz I said the "you've got to stop" might be another person talking to Noomi. As for the "We" I am sure there were some nefarious characters that want the deformity to be born for whatever reason" maybe an android or two : )

Biomechanic

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
BTW I think Rick was the one that first came up with the fetus idea a while back on this site. The abortion part just fits since it would be a hot button topic and one that relates to her faith.

I think you could be right about the foetus idea, it all fits in

I hear the studio is running around with a Giant Scissors cutting all the Genetalia off the Aliens again!

Frantz

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
in that case i approve the giant scissors ...

Think being a good screen writer and a good director they would want to find quite a few issues that the audience could more or less relate to without having to have lived in the future.. I mean seeing stuff get blown up and space ships and aliens is fine for kids but I want more story.

I think Repace will be in the film to the bitter end so can't see her being the carrier. It's got to be Therone as the first. I think Repace will be the one that believed in good in the space jockeys and then changes when they become all malevolent..............

Biomechanic

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
Racepace could still be in it to the end and be a carrier of something at the same time. I had the idea earlier that maybe she is carrying the mother of all facehuggers. Maybe we never see it get born on film but. maybe it is a foreshadow to alien and we see a shady x-ray image of what looks like it during a medical scan.

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
Seems from what I have read that she's right there till near or at the end of the film.

She states in an interview she is a survivor

Biomechanic

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
Maybe being a survivor is good for her but bad for everyone else? What if she lets this thing develop in her out of a strong survival instinct and faith in God to the detriment of the human race? Also many a strong survivor eventually run out of 9 lives and pay the reaper. Like a mountain climbers with too much hubris. I know I am casting a disparaging light on the Shaw character while the consensus here is that she will be a heroine but remember Alien doesn't exactly start all Rosy. Obviously the alien eggs remain intact, a space jockey dies and the company remains as evil as ever. On top of that I don't see why they would basically rehash the Ripley character to boot. I hope their is more to her than meets the eye right now.

Spartacus

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
that's very very wisely thought out and I wouldn't be surprised if you nailed it.

Frantz

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
well another thing that hate in the movies is a open finale ...they save themselves BUT in the bag there is an alien !!

Biomechanic

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
I agree Frantz that is why I kind of hope everyone gets wiped out. Ripley will then remain the strongest willed person and the only one who can out live this horror. I think that was the intention.

Frantz

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011
well we can assume that the most probable finale is that everyone die BUT the jockeys and the aliens are destroyed ..except a crashed vessel of course ....however i still hope in something more happy ^^

You want an uplifting ending Frantz? I hear that...but I am not so sure that's what we're gonna get! "Bleak" has been the word I heard tossed around. But If I try hard enough maybe I can in fact see these overtly huge entities , "The Engineers", suddenly riddled with strong bouts or human like "Morality". Probably not though! I feel both the Alien Creatures' very nature from the first 4 films...suggests there's no way. and Ian Holms' Character "ASH" summed this up the best... After it was told..."You Admire it" by Lambert or Ripley I think it was, when it said... ... "I admire it's purity. A survivor, unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality..." "Delusions of Morality" Even though that line was uttered 33 years ago, hold on to your hat, because I think that concept is going to be even further ingrained within Prometheus.

I don't want a nice ending, I know it sounds harsh but I want pretty much everyone dead by the end of the film.

As the late Madeline Khan said in "Blazzing Saddles" You're such a..." nice guy"! LOL.

EP, I'm right with you, everyone dead by lights up! it never gets back to earth other than minor bits and pieces of info hence redirecting the nostromo :) I don't understand this fear hollywood can have of wiping everyone out. Ridley wasn't allowed to, at least cameron did Ridley the service of making RIpley severly damaged goods after she woke up

The best ending for me would be Shaw or David being the only survivor becoming the new "Pilot" for the derelict.

MemberOvomorph12/11/2011
In the comic con footage of Ridley in Iceland he says that he is almost finished shooting, and the waterfall backdrop that are his last shots will in fact be the opening of the film. But Rapace is on set with him, so is she just doing pick ups there, or is she going to be featured in some way at the begining of the film too? Does this mean there will in fact be some kind of time travel/imbalance in the film???? ..in underwear or not?

Rapace, underwear, waterfall. HALLELUJAH!

I dont see the point to have a bleak ending ..people think its "cool" but soon after they forget the movie ..plus there was never a ridley scott movie with a bleak ending ? IT dont make me be more "cool" watching a bad ending , are others things that make a man "cool" and the first one is not being "cool" ( cos is kiddish ) . I find the whole "i want to see all dead , tortured ...perverse things to them ...no survivors ... " a bit hummm ...i will not say that ...btw is NOT ridley scott ...is a bit like the kid that found pleasure being sadic ... you make him understand thats not the way to be. and all that things would not make the movie more adult ...we are at the ASBURD that the R movies are for teens ( that are not able to follow a decent plot and want to see gore and sex ) and PG13 are for adults ( that have sex in real life and dont need to watch it on the screen )

MemberOvomorph12/11/2011
Ok Frantz, I understand what your saying and I have much respect for it but I have to say this.... What would make this film "Less Adult", is the notion that it would have a happy ending. This film is about some DARK stuff Frantz, it's just not going to have a fairy tale finish. But I respect very much that idea you are presenting, and if there were a way to perhaps end this thing with some sort of hopefull message for Humanity like say at the end of the follow up film to "2001; a space odyssey" ..."2010" in which the Aliens send/ write a message across the spatial sky, with a severe warning, and a message of hope for the future ,and directions for the future exploration of Space...I would be All For It ! But I am not expecting it! Scott himself, in "Alien", was very very nastily Bleak and in fact wrote a much bleaker ending for the film Alien which the studios would not let him shoot...this time the studios are cow towing to Scott and if he wants he can scrap the studio, make this thing himself with Giger using his own money and release it however he wishes, but he didn't do that because he just told the studio how it was this time and they agreed to allow him to have full creative control, which does not bode well for you here.... My understanding is the studios are already trying to take out some of what he short for the film because of it's "bleakly suggestive and sexually deviant nature". Gladiator ended with our Hero Dying. Happy yes, but he still died. Blade runner ended with Nothing solved and even more questions than answers. It was a satisfying finish yes, but still, way more questions than answers there. In fact the only Ridley Scott film I have ever seen with a happy uplifting ending was Black Rain and that was ONLY after a very hard core violence filled conclusion. Ridley Scott seems to always go with whatever seems most realistic for the situation at hand and in this case...I fear...the message is..."Mankind is in Trouble" !!! I would dearly love if what you are wanting happens. I would love to see an uplifting message of hope, but I think in the end it would be very unrealistic of me to expect one, and especially given the subject matter of this film, the creatures it presents, and what we know of their history and origins!!! Juts My opinion. I want you to get your wish, I just don't see how that's gonna happen!!!

MemberOvomorph12/11/2011
I agree, it does deal with some very intense things. But if the story is good, and they way Scott lights it, i think it can be told without an R rating. But not sure on the PG-13, yes it will get bums on seats and I am cynical I think studios are out to produce products that will make a return regardless of story. I do not believe all their hyperbole about story being paramount sometimes.....its ALL about the bottom line. I just dont see how they can deliver a scary/thriller and have it at PG-13. That dont mean it has to have nudity or shit like that, but its a thriller/horror yes? So theres gonna have to be stuff in there that will freak a 13 yr old? That is my biggest concern...I dont mind about the PG-13 cut so much as long as their is an extended cut with everything in it needed to deliver on a great thriller format. Now I know great thrillers dont need to be 18 or R rated...like Hitchcock..tinker tailor(film and BBC version) and various others. But whatever they may say ,this is connected to the Alien universe...Scott has said he wants to scare the shit out of us, that being the case I dont see a way to do it at PG-13?...
