Star Trek 3, hotly rumored to be subtitled "Beyond" started principal photopgraphy yesterday in Vancouver, Canada. With former director J. J. Abrams busy putting the finishing touches to Star Wars The Force Awakens, Fast and Furious 7 director Justin Lin, whom turned down the chance to direct Terminator Genisys, will be helming the movie based on a script by Doug Jung and cast member Simon Pegg; which is expected to see the crew of the USS Enterprise begin their legendary five year mission of discovery throughout our galaxies Alpha quadrant. All of the main cast from the previous two movies are expected to return, with the exception of Leonard Nimoy whom passed away earlier this year. British actor Idris Elba and Algerian-French acttress Sofia Boutella have also been confirmed to have joined the cast.
With each of the cast acquiring a lucrative pay rise for returning for Star Trek 3 and with the movie franchise set to rejuvenate the once uber-popular Star Trek universe, it comes as a surprise that reportedly only leading actors Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine (pictured) have officially signed on for a fourth movie, though we expect most of the main cast will likely return.
