The past few days have proved very interesting in regards to Suicide Squad news. David Ayer has released two pictures on his official twitter that are very intriguing and may potentially hint at some intriguing casting details regarding the movie. There have been many rumors regarding the casting, and this group picture clarifies them in one single moment. Without further ado, the cast picture.
This image is notably lacking in one particular element, that is Jared Leto's Joker, which many rumors have spiraled around. David Ayer replied one day later to clarify this as well, indicating a familiar pose which may be instantly recognizable to many avid readers of the comics. Jared Leto's Joker is teased in the screenshot below, amusingly enough as a photographer taking the group shot. This is reminscent of the 'Killing Joke' comic.
In addition, Will Smith is confirmed as Deadshot, Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn, Cara Delevigne would play Enchantress, Jai Courtney is Boomerang, Jared Leto is Joker, and Viola Davis has been cast as Amanda Waller. The film's general plot is about a team of supervillains recruited by a secret government agency to act as a team that will carry out missions too risky or dangerous for normal operatives.
Suicide Squad is currently set for release on August 5, 2016. Justin Marks will be writing the Screenplay, and David Ayer is assigned to directing the movie. It will be the third installment in the DCU after Dawn of Justice, and the first DC movie to be centered directly around villains. Shooting begins in april, after two months of pre-production in Toronto, Canada.
