The first promotional billboard for Kong: Skull Island has been spotted at a cinema advertising event in New York City, hosted by Screen Vision. The billboard essentially offers us the first official look at King Kong... or at least, part of him! Kong's hand is in the background, reaching forward through a lush jungle backdrop. In the foreground, a crashed Helicopter. The Helicopter was also a 3D display, allowing attendees to climb inside and pose for pictures. A batch of photos from the event made their way online last night and thanks to our friends at Reel Tours Hawaii, you can view them all below!
Like Legendary's approach to their 2014 Godzilla movie, the complete reveal of King Kong is likely being kept secret throughout production as well as its marketing run - only teasing shots, or parts of the creature cloaked in smoke and / or forest cover. As we lead up to the film's March 10th, 2017 release date, expect more promotional material to make its way online.
Kong: Skull Island is the second film in a series of Monster-focused movies put together by Legendary, Warner Brothers and Universal. Acting as a semi-sequel to Godzilla (2014), as well as a prequel to 2019's Godzilla 2 (which is now looking for a new director), the series will conclude with Godzilla and King Kong re-matching in 2020.
