During the Golden Globes last night, Star Wars prequel trilogy actor Ewan McGregor was asked about the planned Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off movie Disney are planning as part of their Star Wars anthology series. To our delight McGregor explains that he would be happy to dawn the Jedi robes and portray the iconic Jedi master once again on the silver screen, but admitted that despite his enthusiasm, he is just as in the dark about the project as we are. He adds that he has also seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi and that he thought it was a beautiful film:
There’s a lot of talk, and I’d be happy to play him again, but I don’t know anything more than you do. I saw the new one over Christmas and I thought it was really, really beautiful.
Of course it it still early, McGregor may be approached down the road for casting when Disney begins to really move forward with the project. Feedback online has been immense, all in support of Ewan being cast to play Obi-Wan again. Whether or not Disney listen to the fans and gives Ewan another opportunity to play one of his easily most memorable and iconic cinematic roles has yet to be seen, but we're hoping they do!
