Will Smith talks Independence Day 2 while promoting Focus

Independence Day film star Will Smith has been busy making the rounds promoting his new film Focus. During one of the interviews with Extra's Mario Lopez, the topic of Independence Day 2 was brought up and it seems as if Will is getting annoyed by everyone constantly asking him why he won't be partaking in the film. But, even his Focus co-star Margot Robbie was disappointed and as you'll see in the video interview below, she pleads for him to join the film's production; considering how much of an impact he had on the first one. 

Unfortunately, Will doesn't offer much of an explanation as to why he turned down being a part of Independence Day 2 but it's clear it's a sensitive topic for him at the moment. It could be that he's trying to distance himself from science fiction right now, but science fiction is making a huge comeback in Hollywood. Of course his last run in with sci-fi didn't fare too well with After Earth, mainly due to the involvement of his son which he pressed hard for and apparently tried to do so again when he was in negotiations for Independence Day 2. 

Thankfully however, fans of Independence Day will get to see Will Smith's lead co-star Jeff Goldblum return for Independence Day 2 when it hits theaters next summer!
