Underwater (2020) special features include deleted scenes, alternative creature designs and more!

The deep sea sci-fi thriller Underwater (2020) just became available for digital download and with that comes over an hour of special feature material! Included are three 20-minute long featurettes, 15 minutes of alternate or deleted scenes and an alternate ending! 

Horror blog Bloody-Disgusting have compiled a list of what the new featurettes and bonus material unveiled, which you can gander at below!

Underwater's Mysterious Monsters

The humanoid alien creatures which hunt the Human crew in Underwater were officially known as "Clingers" and the big baddie at the end was referred to as "Behemoth". In the film, they were never given an official name by any of the crew.

Alternative Creature Design

An alternative design for the Clingers was apparently more closely related to that of a squid, rather than a humanoid and the Behemoth resembled more of a crab before being remodeled as mythic Lovecraftian super being Cthulhu.

Speaking of Cthulhu...

Previous to the film's climactic ending, some viewers might have picked up on a subtle Easter egg, which foreshadowed Cthulhu's presence. At one point in the film, while Norah is looking through Lucien’s locker she finds strange drawings pinned to the inside. One of those drawings is clearly a sketch of Cthulhu:

Other tid bits of information include:

• The suits actors had to wear on set weighed about 100 pounds
• Despite being titled Underwater, NO scenes were actually filmed under water
• Kristen Stewart wanted her character to die
• The film is a homage to Alice in Wonderland
• The entire movie was filmed inside an abandoned Lowe's hardware store
