Chapter 12
Sammy and Tommy
Several years later, Terrance and Thorn are walking through their territory, looking for threats, and food. It's a windy day, and they are walking against the wind, anything behind almost completely concealed. Terrance sensed something, and a roar of pain from Thorn got his attention. He turned around, and saw a Giganotosaurus had bit Thorn's leg. He attacked the Giga, and it let go of Thorn, and she fell when her leg buckled. She was alive, but had blacked out. Terrance and the Giga looked at each other, and Terrance wanted to get between Thorn and the Giga. He mock charged, and the Giga sidestepped, allowing Terrance to get where he wanted to. The Giga slashed at Terrance, and Terrance ducked and headbutted it, sending it back some. Terrance walked up to it, and it slashed again, and Terrance went to bite. This repeated for several minutes, the whole time they were walking back and forth.
When Thorn woke up, she managed to stand up and roar at the Giga, knowing Terrance could use the help. The Giga ran at her and bit her neck, and Terrance bit the Giga's neck, killing it instantly. Terrance turned to Thorn, who was standing, but clearly putting more weight on her good leg. Terrance looked at her leg for a minute, and then she lied down, not hungry at the moment, and knowing that even Terrance couldn't eat the whole Giga on his own.
Terrance was about to lay down, when he heard flesh ripping from the carcass. He growled at whatever was eating his kill, and two small dinosaurs looked up. One was a Spinosaurus, Sammy, and the other was a Tyrannosaurus, Tommy. Terrance watched as Tommy looked around, and then nudged Sammy and they left. Terrance wasn't too happy about his kill being eaten by something else, so he went to eat, and joined by Thorn, who was feeling really hungry all of a sudden. They ate all but a few scraps of the kill, and went off in search of something else to eat.
They came across a herd of Edmontosaurus, and they were already running. Terrance didn't know why, but he didn't care, and attacked the closest one to him. He killed it fairly fast, and when he looked over, he saw Sammy and Tommy, but ignored them because they weren't a threat to him, and they had a kill of their own. Thorn limped out, and she began to eat with Terrance. The next time Terrance looked up was when he felt vibrations. He saw Tommy and Sammy running at them, and then he saw a Charcarodontosaurus chasing them. He roared at the Charcarodontosaurus, Carl, and he also roared at Tommy and Sammy for leading Carl towards him and Thorn. He charged at Carl, and they both stopped completely, Carl on the ground, and Terrance winded. When Terrance caught his breath, he picked Carl up and threw him to the side, and Carl ran away.
Terrance turned around, and he was going to chase Sammy and Tommy, but didn't want to leave Thorn alone. They continued eating, and when they finished, went back to their territory for a drink.
Chapter 13
New and Old Enemies
A year later, Terrance and Thorn have seen the siblings multiple times. They hadn't attacked because they had been so far away, and it was getting to Terrance. Every time they saw them, Terrance started to walk to wherever they had been, but the terrain was too steep, or there was a river, or some other obstacle, and Terrance didn't like it.
They had also seen Carl multiple times. Carl liked to attack from behind and run away. Terrance didn't like it because Carl was faster than him and Thorn, and it was always a brief moment that it happened. Terrance had sensed Carl one time, and he managed to get an attack in. He had bit Carl's neck and tried to kill him right there, but their fourth enemy in the area saved him.
Their fourth enemy, a Giganotosaurus, Greg, was the mate of the Giganotosaurus that Terrance and Thorn had killed the day they met Tommy and Sammy. Greg was equal in size to Terrance, in terms of length and height at least. Terrance was still heavier by about a ton, and that weight difference was a big help to him. They hadn't encountered Greg as much, but when they did, it was usually and inconvenient time, such as a battle, or going to sleep.
Terrance wanted to kill all of them, but there was always something that stopped it. Greg was always met at bad times, Carl was gone just as quickly as he appeared, and the siblings were always too far away with an obstacle. Everything feared Terrance and Thorn, even Carl and Greg, who wanted them gone just as bad as they wanted them gone.
Chapter 14
Separation
A few years since they had first met Sammy and Tommy, Terrance and Thorn are a little bored, and go looking for something to do. None of the small animals stick around long enough for them to catch them, and the big animals are threatened by them because they've seen Terrance hunting and fighting.
Terrance and Thorn decided to go around the border of their territory, having nothing better to do. When they were about halfway through the patrol, they sensed something that was off. They went to check it out, and it was large Torvosaurus that was lying in wait for something. Terrance watched, interested in what this new predator was capable of before attacking it. It suddenly rushed out into the clearing and attacked an Edmontosaurus. Terrance watched as it pushed the Edmontosaurus down, stepped on its neck, and bit it's head.
Thorn looked at Terrance, and he looked back, and they nodded before turning to the Torvosaurus. Terrance stepped out of the tree line, and Thorn was going to come out if Terrance needed help. What they didn't know, was that there was a second Torvosaurus. Terrance roared at the first Torvosaurus, and it looked back at him and roared back. Terrance and the Torvosaurus walked in circles, sizing each other up. Terrance saw the Torvosaurus was large, about forty feet long and six tons.
Meanwhile, the second Torvosaurus had found Thorn, and it attacked without warning. Thorn had sensed it, and managed to avoid the full force of the attack. She looks at the second Torvosaurus, and she sees this as her chance to prove herself to Terrance. They get into a shoving match, and Thorn's extra couple tons helped. She shoved the Torvosaurus through the forest, and before either of them knew it, they were far away from the clearing.
Terrance and the first Torvosaurus charged, and the Torvosaurus stumbled back, and Terrance charged again. The Torvosaurus got out the way and bit Terrance's back, right next to the section of his spine that was exposed. Terrance roared in pain, and managed to pull out, and the Torvosaurus charged. Terrance had faced it, and he headbutted the Torvosaurus. Terrance bit the Torvosaurus on the head, and bit down full force, taking a chunk of the Torvosaurus's head when he pulled back.
The second Torvosaurus and Thorn were fighting, and the Torvosaurus bit her arm. Just before it pulled back, Thorn bit it's neck, and it let go of her arm, giving her some room to move around. She continued biting its neck, and she slammed its head into a tree. When she let go, the Torvosaurus dropped, and Thorn bit it's neck to make sure it was dead. She looked at her kill, proud of what she just did, now she has to find Terrance and show him that she can fight too.
Terrance looked where Thorn had been, and he didn't see her, so he got worried. He heard a sudden roar, and thought it was just Thorn calling for him, so he walked to where it came from. There was a second and third roar, and Terrance began to pick up the pace, getting very worried about what was happening.
Chapter 15
Independence
Terrance half ran, half walked to where he heard the roars coming from. When he got there, Thorn was on the ground, unconscious, and the siblings were looking at her, deciding what to do. Terrance roared at them, and they turned and roared back. Terrance attacked the male, and after nearly biting his head off in his anger, Terrance attacked the female. He bit her snout and bit down hard, cracking it all over in the front section. She pulled out when there was no bone for Terrance to grip on anymore, and both ran away.
Terrance turned to Thorn, who was still on the ground, on the verge of death. He sniffed her, nudged her, everything he could think of to wake her up. When she didn't, he thought she was dead, and walked away, more determined than ever to kill them. As he walked, he roared at the top of his lungs, scaring everything away for miles, and then went to get a meal.
He had noticed the Torvosaurus that Thorn killed, and figured Thorn had done that. He began eating, and wondering if he had always been too protective with her. He saw that she had put up a fight with the siblings, and he knew that she was better on her own than he had thought. After eating, he went to sleep in a cave they had found.
Thorn woke up several days later, having not been disturbed by anything big or small because Terrance's angry roar had scared everything away. She had several broken ribs, a small fracture in some of her vertebrae, and her bottom jaw was fractured. She went looking for a meal, and immediately thought of the Torvosaurus. When she saw it had been half eaten, she figured Terrance had been there earlier, and began eating.
When she finished, she went looking for Terrance, unaware that he had went elsewhere days earlier. When she didn't find him, she looked around the surrounding area, figuring that Terrance would be nearby. After searching for a few hours, she gave up and went hunting.
Terrance and Thorn both realized that they could survive without the other, but preferred to be together. They didn't realize that they would reunite almost a year later, just in time to meet Tommy and Sammy again.
Chapter 16
The Year Alone
Two weeks after being separated, Thorn was back to health, and already developed a reputation for herself. She was an efficient hunter, nothing being able to escape if she decided she wanted to kill it. Her most common meal was Edmontosaurus, but her favourite meal was Diplodocus. She could kill both easily, but she found Edmontosaurus to be easier.
Terrance on the other hand, found the easiest meal to find was Allosaurus. Allosaurus was the most common creature in the valley, and there weren't many herbivores. Terrance hadn't found any herbivores yet, and had been in at least twelve fights. He was building a reputation, but not near as quickly as Thorn.
After five months, Thorn was seen as a tough opponent, but also forgiving and gentle when she wanted to be. Prey was easy to find on the East side of the mountain, and Thorn would happily give up her kill to a challenger so she could go hunting again and sharpen her skills.
Terrance was seen as a ruthless killer, not afraid of anything, and at fifty five feet long and twelve tons, he didn't have anything to be scared of. Terrance had found the occasional herbivore, but Allosaurus proved to be his staple diet, and as soon as he killed one, the were other predators challenging him for it, and he would kill the challenger for food too.
After nine months, Thorn had been in very few fights and had minimal injuries, not much more than a few scratches on her snout. All the large predators left the valley because Thorn had gotten tired of giving up kills and started defending them. Thorn wasn't afraid of anything in the valley, being fifty two feet long and eleven and a half tons, she dwarfed everything in the area.
Terrance was getting tired of the constant battle to sustain himself, and after successfully killing another Allosaurus, he was challenged by a large Giganotosaurus. Terrance looked up from his kill, growling, gnashing his teeth, some of which are dyed red, and a look of pure rage in his eyes as he roars. They size each other up, and the Giga sees some of Terrance's scars, including a massive cut from his neck to his tail, and his left arm is completely missing. The Giga looks at Terrance again, wondering if it was a good idea to attack him, and all the other predators are watching. He attacked the Giga, and killed it under a minute, gaining the respect of all the other predators.
After eleven months, Thorn is still thriving, nothing daring to challenge her. She is enjoying her life on her own, but she misses Terrance.
Terrance doesn't have to fight every day anymore, the rest of the predators respect him too much to challenge him. He is starting to enjoy his life, but decides it's time to leave the area, and goes starts to go back to where he last saw Thorn.
Chapter 17
Together Again
Terrance got to the east side of the mountain, and saw enough food to last for years. He quickly got a kill and began eating. Before he could take more than a bite, he was challenged by an Allosaurus pair. He roared at the top of his lungs, and the Allosaurs roared back, ready for a fight to the death, having not eaten in weeks.
Thorn had heard the roar, an unmistakeable roar that she had only heard once, during the battle with the pair. She had a flashback to that moment.
She had been fighting the female, the sibling's mother, and was about to get killed by her when Terrance stood up and gave that exact roar. She remembered the lightning flashing, the blood dripping off his teeth, his heavy breathing, and the look of anger in his eyes.
Thorn walked to where she heard the roar, and when she got there, the two Allosaurus lay dead, and Terrance was ripping at the Edmontosaurus. Thorn went to where Terrance was, and when he looked up at her, recognized her immediately and they bumped snouts, rubbed necks, and gave a friendly growl. Terrance was amazed Thorn had survived the battle, but glad that she survived on her own. Thorn was happy to see Terrance, and was surprised by the amount of scars he had obtained since she last saw him. They began to eat together for the first time in almost a year, and they enjoyed being together again.
Alone, Terrance and Thorn were an impressive sight, and nearly unstoppable in a fight, together, they are nearly invincible.
Chapter 18
Thorn's Territory
After they ate, Terrance and Thorn walked around the borders of her territory. Terrance was impressed, and it went from the mountain to a lake about twenty miles away.
They stopped for a drink at the river, and decided to follow the river, it being in Thorn's territory, and them having nothing else to do. They walked for a few minutes along it, and eventually, they came across a familiar scent. Terrance smelled Sammy and Tommy, and Thorn sensed them too shortly after. When they saw Sammy and Tommy, they got defensive, and Terrance walked over to Sammy. Sammy freaked out and slashed Terrance, which led to him pushing him into the river. Sammy had been carried down a few miles before getting to the shore.
Tommy looked at Terrance and Thorn and ran away, fearing he would be killed otherwise. Terrance and Thorn look at each other, confused, and continue walking around the area, eventually stopping to rest in a clearing.
Chapter 19
A Quick Scare
The next day, Terrance and Thorn are looking around the river for something to do. Terrance had smelled Sammy, and began walking in that direction, planning on having some fun with him. Thorn had sensed Tommy though, and walked in that direction, not noticing Terrance already walking away because they had stopped to sniff the air, and Thorn had turned away from him.
Terrance found Sammy, and roared a challenge. Sammy turned to face Terrance, and roared back in response. They walked in circles, not breaking eye contact the whole time. Sammy started to get nervous, and Terrance didn't know why, seeing that Sammy hadn't been nervous before. Terrance sniffed the air, and didn't sense Thorn, so he got nervous, the year that they were separated still fresh in his mind. Terrance started freaking out and retraced his steps, completely ignoring Sammy.
Thorn found Tommy and Tommy had turned and roared at her. Thorn roared back in response, surprised that the little Rex challenged her. They started circling, and when Terrance didn't show up, Tommy got nervous. Thorn looked around for Terrance, thinking Terrance's absence was what was scaring him. She didn't sense Terrance, so she slowly turned back to Tommy, happy that Terrance wasn't around. The year that they were apart was still fresh in her mind, but Terrance hadn't lost sight of her since they reunited. She attacked Tommy, thinking she wasn't going to do too much damage, but she overestimated Tommy's defence, and under estimated her own strength.
She had injured Tommy more than she expected, and knocked him out. He woke up a short time later, and Thorn was still watching him, happy that she had some more independence. She watched as Tommy stood up, and she walked away, going back to find Terrance. She bumped into Sammy, and he freaked out when he saw all the blood around her mouth. She found Terrance, and they walked off together, Terrance happy that he found her back quickly.
Chapter 20
Battling The Odds
Two years after the brief separation, Terrance woke up and started walk around, trying to fully wake up. He took a bite out if their kill, and he heard a loud roar in the distance. He woke up Thorn and they walked to where it came from.
When they got there, they saw Tommy standing at the edge of a cliff, and he saw that the siblings, Greg and Carl were watching him. Terrance started to walk to the battle, and Carl charged Tommy. Terrance ran and headbutted Carl, sending him sliding to the edge and falling off, landing with a thud. Terrance roared, and they all looked at him. Thorn had walked to his side, and so did Tommy, feeling safer there than by the cliff.
Terrance saw the battle was still a little against them, even though Carl is dead, Greg is equal in size to Terrance, the siblings are average size, but Tommy is so little compared to them. Greg attacked Terrance, the female attacked Thorn, and the male attacked Tommy.
Terrance was doing better than he thought, dodging and biting Greg, and taking the occasional slash to the head or neck. Greg was getting frustrated because he couldn't get many hits in, and none of them were more than grazing blows, while Terrance was getting some good hits in, he wasn't getting many. Eventually, Terrance bit Greg's left arm and started pulling. Greg slashed him under his right eye with his good arm, and the sudden rush of pain caused Terrance to jump back in surprise, Greg's arm going with him. While Greg was distracted by the pain of his arm being ripped off, Terrance pushed him, causing him to stumble back and fall next to the cliff side.
Thorn was doing as she expected against the female. She bit her snout, and the female pulled back and tried the same thing. Thorn headbutted her, and followed through with a bite to the neck. The female pulled herself free and attacked Thorn, missing and being bit at the base of her skull.
Tommy and the male were fighting, and Tommy was doing better than any of them had expected. He kept dodging the male's attacks, and when the male charged blindly again, Tommy dodged again. The male was going to attack Tommy, but decided to go for Terrance instead, trying to save Greg from getting killed. The male slowed Terrance down enough that Greg had time to get up, and then the male went back to Tommy, frustrated that he couldn't do anything to him.
Sammy showed up, and went to help Tommy, who was the one that needed it the most. Meanwhile, Terrance and Greg are fighting again, and when Terrance pushed Greg, he stumbled into the male, Tommy and Sammy. The male fell, Sammy was knocked off balance, and Tommy fell, landing on the male, knocking him out. Terrance went around them, and dragged Greg to the edge before breaking his neck. He was going to push him off the edge, but decided to help Thorn instead.
When Terrance joined that battle, the female freaked out and tried to run, being blocked by Terrance and Thorn, and even Tommy and Sammy. She ran past Tommy, but didn't turn fast enough, and tripped, landing next to Carl.
The male woke up, and he too tried to run. Tommy bit his tail, which stopped him, and Sammy grabbed his neck, which held him still while Tommy readjusted. They couldn't kill the male, no matter how hard they tried, and eventually, Terrance walked over and finished him off, and then stepped back to Thorn's side.
Sammy and Tommy looked at Terrance and Thorn, scared that they might be killed. Terrance and Thorn lowered their heads in respect, and they mirrored the action shortly after. Terrance and Thorn walked away after that, knowing that they had done what they came to do, and began the trek back home, to their parent's old territory they lost in the fire.
Chapter 21
An Old Friend
Terrance and Thorn had walked for a few miles, and they reached a place that had been familiar. They didn't know why, and Terrance stopped to think about it for a minute. He couldn't think of any reason why it might be familiar, and they were about to walk away when a roar got their attention.
They turned to what challenged them, and saw three Torvosaurus advancing toward them. Terrance and Thorn roared at them, and they were easily bigger than the Torvosaurus', but the fight was evened out because there were three of them, and they were more agile than Terrance and Thorn.
The alpha Torvosaurus walked toward Terrance, followed by the smallest one, while the middle Torvosaurus went to Thorn. Before much else had happened, another roar got their attention.
They all looked toward where the roar came from, and an angry Spinosaurus walked into the battle ground. It had blood on its claws, having returned from a fishing trip because the fish level was low in this section, and the battle was in his territory.
Terrance thought the Spinosaurus was familiar, and then he made the connection. He gave a friendly growl, and Thorn was confused, but she soon realized it was their old friend, Sylvester. Sylvester immediately went and stood beside Terrance and Thorn, and was equal in length to Thorn.
The three Torvosaurus looked at the trio facing them, all over fifty feet long and Sylvester was the lightest of the three at nine tons. They all roared at the Torvosaurus', and then attacked. The battle was over quickly after that, and Terrance and Thorn left for their valley, ready to go home for good.
Chapter 22
Home At Last
Two months after leaving the strange place, Terrance and Thorn arrived at the valley where they grew up. It was early morning, and only a few herbivores where awake. Terrance was amazed at how everything looked, green and wooded, like when they were growing up.
They continued walking, and after a few minutes, arrived at where their parent's remains were. Terrance looked at the skeletons, which were surprisingly untouched. He was surprised, expecting them to be gone in the fire, but instead, just as how he remembered them from years earlier.
He was deep in thought when Thorn nudged him. He looked at her, they stood close to each other, and then roared in perfect unison. The roar woke all the herbivores, and they ran off, thinking Terrance and Thorn were nearby, when they were really almost a mile away at the minimum. A Dromeasaurus had been living in the valley during Terrance and Thorn's absence, and it didn't plan on leaving, and when it heard the roar, took cover in some bushes.
They went to sleep, having walked all night because Terrance knew that they were close. When they woke up, they looked around, and there wasn't a sign that a large or even mid sized carnivore had been there in years. They continued walking, the memories flowing back, and eventually, they arrived where the battle with the pair had been. The skeletons were still there, both the pair's and their mate's. Terrance looked at their mate's skeletons first, still impacted by the sight of their skeletons. Terrance knew that without their sacrifice, their chicks might not have made it.
Terrance looked at the pair's skeletons next. Both skeletons were mangled, showing just how brutally Terrance and Thorn had fought that battle, scavengers and the elements not capable of the damage that the skeletons had. Thorn looked at them, proud of one of her first battles, and proud that she did as much as she did.
They returned to where they had made their nest after the battle, and laid down to rest, having had a long walk all around the valley. As they fell asleep, a mosquito landed on Thorn, and another on Terrance. After sucking some blood, they landed and a branch, and became stuck in the sap.
Epilogue
65 million years later, both pieces of amber are discovered. The one with Thorn's blood became the first dinosaur cloned by InGen, being named Rexy, and set to be the main attraction of Jurassic Park. The piece containing Terrance's however, became the decoration on the end of John Hammod's cane. Should the one on Hammod's cane be used, it will produce the largest Tyrannosaurus ever to walk the Earth, and one of, if not, the largest land predators of all time, but certainly the most vicious and toughest of all time.
