Production on the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series for the Disney Plus streaming service has been delayed, according to a fresh report by Collider! According to the report, LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy decided to delay production in order to improve the series' script. There is of course, a lot riding on this specific series, with Obi-Wan being such an integral part of the Star Wars legacy.

Prior to this news, the Obi-Wan series which will see the return of Ewan McGregor as the title character, was set to begin filming this July. This is no longer the case and we suspect filming could be pushed as far back as into next year instead.

THR has also added that the originally planned 6 episode span for the series has been reduced to 4 episodes to improve pacing and avoid the story from wearing thin. They also report that the scripts originally provided by Hossein Ameni have been scrapped.

Despite the delays, the Kenobi series will not be canceled and Ewan McGregor will not be exiting the project, currently. This may prove to be a good move on LucasFilm's part to better execute such a high profile title. As we learn more, we'll be updating this blog, so be sure to keep an eye on the homepage!
