Yesterday director Rian Johnson posted on Instagram that post-production on Star Wars: The Last Jedi is complete, almost three months ahead of the movie's release date of December 15th. With both the Han Solo movie and Star Wars: Episode IX having recently changed directors this news is more important to Lucasfilm's profile than it may first seem, as throughout its production The Last Jedi has experienced none of the behind-the-scenes drama that has plagued the aforementioned two movies. As with J. J. Abrams before him The Last Jedi director Johnson has not experienced any 'creative differences' with Lucasfilm or its president Kathleen Kennedy. Of course, there was a brief hiccup in the road with director Gareth Edwards on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but the British director stayed with the movie through to its completion and actually collaborated with Lucasfilm over any differences he had experienced.

The Last Jedi being complete so soon before release is a huge benefit to Lucasfilm and its marketing department, as having a completed movie allows for the imminent barrage of trailers, TV spots and featurettes to be managed correctly so as to ensure that none of the movies key moments and twists are revealed beforehand, the first of which is rumored to be coming as soon as October 9th, if Mark Hamill's much publicized and subsequently deleted tweet is to be believed.
