Since news is heating up for a number of upcoming films Scified will be covering extensively, this Weekly Re-Cap blog will help chronicle any and all updates you may have missed out on throughout the last week.
In this re-cap we go over the latest additions to Shane Black's Predator sequel, the new images released for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant and a batch of new set photos from Steven DeKnight's Pacific Rim: Uprising!
Trevante Rhodes and Keegan Michael-Key officially joined the cast of Shane Black's The Predator last week. Rhodes' character is rumored to be an ex-marine and close friend of Holbrook's character, while Keegan's role has yet to be revealed, but is also rumored to join Holbrook and Rhodes' characters in the fight against seemingly multiple "Predators". The actual number of Predators have not yet been confirmed.
A new Alien: Covenant photo was released online last week showing lead actress Katherine Waterston (Daniels) in an aggressive pose, supposedly firing on an Alien. Fans have noted that in the still, Daniels is wearing ear plugs - possibly as a means to avoid infection by the Neomorph spore...
Also last week we debuted our exclusive interview with Alien: Covenant Concept Artist Dane Hallett! During the interview we discussed Dane's inspiration behind his work, what influences Prometheus had on his work for Covenant and more. We encourage you to read the full interview here if you haven't already!
Last week we also received a huge batch of high quality set photos from the set of Pacific Rim: Uprising (Pacific Rim 2). The first image to surface was that of John Boyega and Scott Eastwood in what looks to be a PPDC control room as they contemplate how to handle the impending Kaiju attack.
The next batch of set photos gave us a detailed look at John Boyega's Jaeger Pilot suit as well as clues to what might be going on in the scene from where the photos were taken from.
You can view them all here. It looks as if Boyega's Jaeger suffered a fatal blow and forced him to evacuate the fallen mech. However, until we have more to work with, that scenario remains speculative.
Lastly, we also received exciting news that could confirm the return of another Pacific Rim star - Rinko Kikuchi. When we reached out to director Steven DeKnight for confirmation, he responded with a rather cryptic reply, neither confirming or denying her involvement.
Be sure to check back next Sunday for another re-cap of the latest Sci-Fi movie news!
