Planet Of The Apes Prequel Series May Not Be A Trilogy!

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was a huge hit this summer, so its understandable that fans are eager for news of the sequel, known only as "the Planet of the Apes", which despite our previous ascertations looks set NOT to be a remake of the 1968 original, but instead a continuation of Caesar's story, the evolution of the apes into the dominant species and the devolution of the human race into a mute, slave race. Speaking recently with MTV, motion capture master Andy Serkis (soon to be seen in next years Avengers: Age of Ultron and Star Wars: The Force Awakens) teased that the story of the prequels are not necessarily going to be tied up in the next movie, and that 20th Century Fox seem likely to extend that story so long as their is demand from the audience, though he does let slip that the end game is, of course, the world as seen in the original "The Planet of the Apes"...

“To be honest, it’s very, very early in where we choose to drop our anchor in the next film, so it could be five years after the event. It could be the night after the events of where we left ‘Dawn,’ so it’s very difficult to know where the story is going right at this moment because it’s being written as we speak. I know part of the desire for Matt [Reeves] to do this next movie about continuing the enjoyment of seeing these apes evolve.”

"So I dont think we're gonna see a situation were we are jumping... You know everybody assumes that it might be three films. It could be four. It could be five. Who knows? The journey will continue. It might not necessarily be summarized or completely fulfilled in this next one. The point being, eventually we know that we’re going to end up back at ‘The Planet of the Apes,’ but whether it’s this film or not, I don’t know.”
