Althought it's been a while since Pacific Rim: Uprising hit theaters, fans are still discussing the film's plot, Kaiju, Jaegers and characters to this day and director Steven DeKnight has taken to Twitter recently to share some insider info regarding Uprising's production - specifically what the film was almost titled.
Apparently, at one point the Pacific Rim sequel was nearly titled "Pacific Rim: Supermassive Robot Attack". If you don't think that title would have rolled off the tongue that easily, you aren't alone. DeKnight himself admits he was not a fan of that suggestion and in all honesty wasn't too fond of the "Uprising" subtitle they chose either.
Earlier in Pacific Rim 2's production, the working title was Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, but because studio execs thought not many people would know what Maelstrom meant. DeKnight along with most fans agree this would have been the preferred title.
Since this tweet went live DeKnight has also disclosed that originally Pacific Rim 2 was going to be a much darker and quirkier film. All that aside, we're just glad the film wasn't titled Supermassive Robot Attack.
