EW are capitalizing on their small snippet of the big pie that is Rogue One: Star Wars Story by drip feeding what information they have to fans. This time, a barrage of new images have been released along with some interesting tidbits of information. The first set of images showcase the cast of the rebel spies led by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) on what looks to be the set of the Jungle Base seen in the trailer being attacked by AT-ACT's.
The last pictures above show both Felicity Jones and Riz Ahmed (as pilot Bodhi Rook) wearing Imperial attire suggesting that maybe these rebel spies have to infiltrate the base where the plans of the Death Star are disguised as Imperials.
Ben Mendelsohn plays Imperial Director Orson Krennic, the commanding officer in charge of the Imperial forces that will antagonize the rebels. Mendelsohn has compared his character to Peter Cushing's Grand Moff Tarkin, stating that “Krennic runs a little hotter than [Tarkin], so that’s kind of fun and it’s a little bit different… He is unpredictable and volatile.”
Rogue One will feature both the classic Imperial Stormtroopers and the new Deathtroopers; an elite squadron of well trained and deadly Stormtroopers, who will hopefully have a better aim than their classic counterparts. In the last picture above one of the Deathtroopers can be seen holding a doll of a Stormtrooper, which reportedly plays a role in the story of the movie. At first, this doll seemed like such a bizarre thing to include in one of the pictures never mind having a Deathtrooper holding it. That is until one casts their mind back to Decembers blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens in which Rey too possesses a similar doll, but her doll is an X-Wing pilot (pictured below). Could there be a link between the owner of this Imperial doll (likely Jyn Erso) and Rey.
