Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller is currently tied up in a lawsuit against Warner Brothers over an alleged $7 million of unpaid earnings following the film's release! The $7 million figure was supposedly a bonus promised to Miller's production company, Kennedy Miller Mitchel, if they managed to produce the movie for a net cost of under $157 million. However despite the film going over that agreed upon amount, the production house argues that it was due to Warner Brothers' constant changes and delays which caused the film to go over.
Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald on Saturday, representatives of Miller's production company explained:
After all the hard work and success of the film, the studio failed to honour its obligations.
We would much prefer to be making movies with Warner Bros. than litigating with them, but after trying for over a year, we were unable to reach a satisfactory resolution and have now had to resort to a law suit to sort things out.
George Miller does have two more Mad Max films scripted and ready to go, however depending on the result of this lawsuit, we may or may not ever get to see them come to fruition.
