There's been endless talk over the past several weeks about how Warner Bros. might lose money from Justice League's poor box office performance, but the fact that the film has now earned over $500 million is at least something to celebrate.
Box Office Mojo have reported that Justice League's total worldwide gross stands at $567,435,921. Whilst this is still significantly below expectations, it's worth noting it's nearly twice the amount of the $300 million production budget.
Analysts have estimated that once you also take into account marketing costs, Justice League will ultimately need to earn between $600 - $750 to be deliver a complete return on its investment. It's still unclear if it will reach this goal (especially now that it's opened in all territories), but $567 million is certainly nothing to scoff at.
And even if Warner Bros. do ultimately suffer a net loss due to Justice League, they haven’t been deterred from pressing on with delivering films based on their DC properties. Aquaman is set to open on December 21, 2018, whilst Wonder Woman 2 will be released on November 1, 2019. At least for now, the fate of the DC Extended Universe appears to be secure.
