The Crow, released in 1994 was Brandon Lee's (son of Bruce Lee) last movie. The actors death during filming and the dark, emotional, fantasy stylings of the movie have ensured its cult status for the past 21 years, spawning a short lived TV series and three sequels. Since 2008 there has been mention of a reboot of the property with directors like Stephen Norrington, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Francisco Javier Gutierrez having previously been attached to direct and actors such as Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, James McAvoy and Tom Hiddleston having expressed intesrest in the lead role. The last actor attached to the project was Luke Evans, but after the success of his recent movie Dracula Untold, the British actor has withdrawn from the project.

The reboot, which is to be directed by Corin Hardy and is reported to begin production this spring has already amassed $20 million in pre-production costs, as such the production team are keen to cast the lead role of Eric Draven. Speaking recently at Wizard World Madison Comic Con the creator of the comic book original James O'Barr announced his desire to see Smallville, Battlestar Galactica and Being Human (US version) star Sam Witwer (pictured above) cast as Draven. Witwer recently lent his likeness, voice and motion performance to the recent Star Wars Unleashed video games as Darth Vaders secret apprentice the Starkiller. O'Barr is reported to have contacted Witwer, of whom is very eager for the role and the opportunity.
