Today Paramount Pictures have released a new promotional video for their forthcoming Terminator Genisys, a video that targets Game of Thrones fans, enticing them to watch the forthcoming movie. Theres nothing much more we can say about the "Mother of the Resistance" video, other than that it is very formulaic and predictable to the level of pointlessness, but here it is nonetheless...
This promo is the first in quite some time from Paramount Pictures, whom failed to capitalise on the expectations of their fans amidst the rumors of a new trailer earlier this month. With no new trailer, the above, very by-the-numbers promo and Arnold Schwarzeneggers recent, yet unsuccessful attempts to create controversial press with his comments that Terminator Salvation "sucked", one begins to wonder if studio Paramount Pictures, whom if you'll remember didnt even fund the movie in its entirety, are taking the barrage of negative comments from fans as a sign that the movie may not perform as well as they or production company Skydance Productions expected.
Could it be that the controversial idea of resetting the franchise is giving Paramount second thoughts as to the profitability of such a move? Could this be why Megan Ellison, whom currently owns the production rights to the Terminator franchise distanced herself from the movie by removing her company Annapurna Pictures from the production team?
With a rumored buget of $170 million Paramount Pictures are going to have to step up the marketing of the movie if they intend to at the very least recuperate their costs, unless of course the movies failure in the box office is already a foregone conclusion.
