Since July 4th when we got a tease of the upcoming sequel to Independence Day, we now can confirm a new trailer, with a length of 2:06 minutes will be coming out in the coming days. This news comes shortly after the release of Alberta Film Ratings which featured information about the new preview.
With a rating of "PG", we can expect 20th Century Fox to release the trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence before the viewing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Roland Emmerich, director of IDR told reporters in September that “It will probably be happening around the Christmas season."
The only two movies left to come out before Christmas are Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, and Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens....And with a budget reported over $200 million and Fox's 2016 summer blockbuster, it's likely we will get a taste of the Resurgence on December 18th with the release of Star Wars.
