Starting our list off we have the exciting reveal of Godzilla director Gareth Edwards' Star Wars spin-off title! The first of three spin-off titles set in the Star Wars cinematic universe will be titled Rogue One and will hit theaters December 16, 2016! Edwards' Rogue One will star Felicity Jones and will act as a stand-alone film. Currently, plot details are unknown. Following Rogue One, Star Wars: Episode VIII will hit theaters the following year, releasing May 26th, 2017.
Next up we learned that game developer, Creative Assmebly are currently hiring for a multiplayer programmer for a new AAA title, insinuating a sequel to last year's incredibly well-received Alien: Isolation - arguably one of the best Alien games to be released - ever. The exciting news hints that the sequel will in fact support multiplayer functionality! Whether the sequel will follow-suit and remain a survival horror genre title or if it will take after James Cameron's Aliens and set to give us a real taste of what Colonial Marines filed to deliver - has yet to be revealed. Regardless, we're pumped to see what Creative Assembly comes up with next for the franchise.
While on the topic of Aliens, we also learned that Chappie star Sharlto Copley has indeed spoken to Neill Blomkamp about his upcoming Alien 5 project, however revealed that he has yet to be given a role in the film. On the other end of the spectrum, during yet another promotional outing for Chappie, Sigourney Weaver and director Neill Blomkamp mentioned once again that the new Alien movie is happening, and Weaver also dropped an interesting hint about the film's progress so far, saying “We’ve found the host and it’s been embedded…it’s gestated.” What exactly this means is unclear. Did they settle on a new host for the Xenomorph? Or was this just a vague way to say that Fox and Blomkamphave agreed on a solid story? We expect more to be revealed in the coming weeks.
