Scottish actor Ewan McGregor could be returning to the big screen as Jedi Knight Obi Wan Kenobi in a hotly rumored Star Wars Anthology movie that would chronicle the characters time protecting Luke Skwalker from afar on Tattooine. The widely speculated movie could also see Ray Park return as rogue Sith Apprentice Darth Maul.
The Daily Record recently caught up with McGregor at the Edinburgh Film Festival, and got the chance to talk to the Star Wars prequel trilogy star and UNICEF ambassador about his opinions on the forthcoming new movie, the design of Kylo Rens crossguarded lightsabre and whether or not he would be willing to return as Obi Wan.
"It's not a fanatical thing. I'm really pleased I'm part of the legacy of it and happy to see it and I've seen the trailer and it looks like they've absolutely nailed it."
"I'm not sure about the hilt on the lightsaber. If you fight with a lightsaber properly you don't need one."
"I'd be happy to do the story from episodes three where I finish up and Alec Guinness starts."
The widely reknowned actor whom is set to feature with Star Wars co-star Natalie Portman in his next movie, western Jane Got A Gun, also commented on his childhood experiences, watching his uncle Denis Lawson play X-Wing pilot Wedge Antilles in the legendary original trilogy...
"I remember going to see him in Star Wars in my shorts and red socks when my mum picked us up from school. I was six and it blew my brains out and that was it. I remember saying of Denis when I was nine I want to be an actor."
