Eight years, and twelve movies later DC Comics and Warner Bros are preparing to go head-to-head with Marvel Studios by establishing their own cinematic universe using 2013's Superman reboot Man of Steel as their launching pad. This year sees the first two movies to be released within this fledgling DCEU (DC Extended Universe) with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice smashing into theatres March 25th and the Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer breaking out August 5th.
Featured in the Dawn of the Justice League special on American TV network CW, the next instalments in the DCEU have been revealed, starting with Wonder Woman. Starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine the first big screen adptation of DC's premier heroine will be directed by Patty Jenkins and is due for release June 23rd 2017. Later in 2017 will see the first part of the Justice League movie, which is scheduled for release November 17th, 2017 and will be directed by Zack Snyder.
March 23rd, 2018 will see Ezra Miller speed into theatres as The Flash, with Jason Momoa splashing into theatres later the same year as Aquaman. Directed by James Wan Aquaman will flood into theatres July 27th.
Former Wrestling superstar and Hollywood action star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will feature as Black Adam in 2019's first DCEU offering Shazam, which is due for release April 5th of that year followed by the second part of The Justice League, once again directed by Zack Snyder, June 14th.
2020 will see the final two movies released in this first phase of the DCEU. Ray Fisher will appear as Cyborg, which is scheduled for an April 3rd release, with a reboot of the Green Lantern Corps scheduled June 19th.
Additionally a solo Batman movie, looking to directed, co-written (with Geoff Johns) and Starring Ben Affleck and a sequel to 2013's Man of Steel, likely being directed by Zack Snyder are also being planned for release before 2020!
