The Wrap is reporting that Christoph Waltz has been cast in Bond 24. They speculate as well that he may be playing the role of the lead villain in the film. Several other outlets have picked the story up as well, Empire Magazine speculating that he may playing Blofield. The Wrap reports that EON productions and Waltz declined to comment on the reported casting as well.
This casting news is especially intriguing in light of rumors that he may play Blofield. In the previous James bond movie, there were several allusions to the original Bond films. Moneypenny and M were also reintroduced as well, continuing this theme. Dave Bautista is reportedly being cast as a 'henchmen' in Bond 24, so the return of Blofield may not be so far fetched.
If he is indeed being cast as the main villain, it is concievable that he could be the villain which Dave Bautista's 'henchmen' reports too. The Blofield speculation is intriguing, although it may be a misleading direction. It is possible as well that Waltz may be playing an independt villain, without any previous connections to the other films in the manner of 'Goldfinger'. Either way, it will be interesting to see what his final role will be as more details are revealed.
Bond 24 will be the fourth film for Daniel Craig in his role as James Bond. Previously having been in 'Casino Royale', 'Quantum of Solace', and most Recently, 'Skyfall'. Sam Mendes is confirmed to be returning to direct as well. The release date for Bond 24 is November 6, 2015 in the United States, and as of yet, it lacks a formal title. Lea Seydoux and Dave Bautista are also reported to be attached to the movie.
