That's right ID4 fans! Brent Spiner, aka. Dr. Brackish Okun, lead scientist at Area 51 from the original Independence Day is back for Independence Day 2! Not only that, but director Roland Emmerich also just announced that actress Joey King has also signed on for a role in the film!
Now, I'm sure you're thinking - "Wait, didn't Dr. Okun die in the first movie?", we're with you on that one. It will be interesting to see how he's worked into the script for the new film, given it takes place 20 years after the original. This could however insinuate the film will feature flashback scenes throughout Independence Day 2. Or, more interestingly, that Dr. Okun didn't actually die in Independence Day. As more information on his mysterious inclusion is revealed, we'll be sure to keep you updated!
Next up, Joey King, who is currently only 15 years old, has also joined the ID4 sequel. It's likely she'll be playing a child to one of the lead characters, however, that's all we know. Her role has yet to be revealed.
Here's Emmerich's tweet he just sent out, announcing these two new cast additions:
This just in... @JoeyKingActress and @BrentSpiner officially signed for #IndependenceDay - Welcome aboard!
