The Thing 2 is happening... we think? While answering questions at this year's Fan Expo, John Carpenter surprised audiences by saying he was currently working on a sequel to The Thing right now, but cryptically followed his remarks by saying he doesn't know... Carpetner, now 77 years old teased the following when asked point-blank if there will ever be a sequel to his original 1982 film:
We're working on it now... Yeah, I don't know! We'll see...
Was he being coy? Is he actually working on a sequel to his classic sci-fi horror? We can only hope! The comic shape-shifting extraterrestrial remains one of the most mysterious creatures in sci-fi cinema.

The 2011 prequel shed some light on the parasitic alien's origins by revealing its crashed spaceship frozen in the arctic but left many questions unanswered. A proper sequel to John Carpenter's original could really expand on these unknowns further, there's so much left to be explored.
