Pacific Rim was everything that I had hoped for & was expecting from a Guillermo Del Toro blockbuster. It was fun, massive, emotional in the right parts & seasoned with a bit of comic relief. It was definitely the most fun that I've had at the theater in a while. Other flicks this year have wowed me, but this was just a blast from start to finish.
It's exactly what most would expect from the posters & trailers: Giant robots & giant monsters beating the ever loving crap out of each other & demolishing cities in the process. What I didn't expect was the reasoning behind the kaiju attacks. I loved the plot elements that Del Toro seasoned his story with. There is a very gripping human element involved in it. Seriously, if you felt absolutely nothing during the entire movie, then maybe you're the kind of person that needs every single little detail explained & should just go read a novel instead.
To sum up: Massively epic Jaeger/Kaiju fights; genuine human element; very interesting plot twist behind the Kaiju.
Definitely worth the price of a 3D ticket. Go see it & not only support an amazing sci-fi masterpiece, but an amazingly talented director & overgrown kid: Guillermo Del Toro.
