The monster action was pretty awesome though for some reason they sped up parts of the end battle which made the scenes lose the weight the monsters had previously. The Human characters are some of the worst they have ever been, even to Kaiju movie standers. The best, most interesting and most developed human character in is the one that doesn't speak, which just goes to show how bad it is.
Still I'd recommend watching it for the monsters, but the rest you should fast forward without a doubt.
