Yeah Mentos I sort of think you have hit the nail on the head. The "goo" in the urns is definitely integral to the plot and I think you may be right about the metamorphosis of some of the crew into creatures. This picture could be one of the crew undergoing a horrible change, well that's how it looks to me. And this Comic-Con footage was said to be very relevant to the plot. i do not agree ... genetic hybrids were already in Alien 4 , plus there are other hybrids in Alien Vs Predator ...so is already an used thing and not as "scaring" as the facehuggers thing ...also a big success like District 9 widely used the genetic contamination thing . The liquid you see on the finger is the white blood that androids have ( as reporters said ) ALSO in some frames of the video we see an ABDOMEN checkup ... i dont think is a coincidence

WOW! There’s certainly a lot atheistic propaganda being spewed across the PROMETHEUS forum today. You know, I had an existential conversation with a friend one day. During the conversation my friend said, “You know what? I think that if even if God did NOT exist, people would invent one…and so they have. In response I said, “Well that’s interesting, I think that even if God DOES exist, people will try to find a way to un-invent or deny this God…and so they do. I find it interesting that folks like “spacey freak” are willing, and are so readily eager to embrace the concept of a “merely” extra-terrestrial (non-divine) god or creator, while simultaneously ridiculing theological theories that have been held by scholars, philosophers, and men of science…with “superior spelling skills”… for MILLENNIA! I don’t mean to come across as didactic. It’s just that “spacey freak’s” statements reminded so much, of the afore mentioned conversation, that I felt compelled to post it. Moreover, it’s amusing…and at the same time, SAD to me, that the member wrote that there is no TRUTH. In actuality, all of nature is truth. Trouble only comes in to “paradise” when the TRUTH is either misunderstood or intentionally denied or attacked. The fact is that approximately 97.5% of the (non ant) human population believes in some form of a supernatural God(s)…not including potentially powerful extra-terrestrial lifeforms i.e. Space Jockeys. I sure hope the PROMETHEUS film does not go in this presumptuous and theologically and scientifically dismissive direction. Remember folks, good science does not rule out possibilities without proof. To rule out the possibility of God(s) seems very Unscientific…at least to me. God Bless…if there is one, ~Neurion

Well it's all in the title Neurion.Stealing fire from the gods and all that.I don't think they called it Prometheus out of invention.I think creation (creatures and planets) will play a big part in the movie. About your discussion with your friend -People will always need to something to believe in.Always have and always will. Quote - "The (space) journey, metaphorically, is about a challenge to the gods," Scott said. But Scott's ambitions with Prometheus go far beyond simply restarting a hit franchise. The British director said the film's storyline, and script by David Lindelof, was partially inspired by the writings of legendary Swiss sci-fi writer Eric van Daniken. Van Daniken, author of 1968 bestseller Chariot of the Gods, is best known as the first proponent of the so-called ancient astronaut theory, which holds that aliens kick-started civilization on earth. "NASA and the Vatican agree that is almost mathematically impossible that we can be where we are today without there being a little help along the way," Scott said. "That's what we're looking at (in the film), at some of Eric van Daniken's ideas of how did we humans come about." - Quote

Hey Theusprom, I really don’t have a problem with the filmmakers grafting van Daniken’s hypotheses/theories into the PROMETHEUS film. Van Daniken’s concepts do not necessarily preclude the possibility of the existence of a God(s). They simply hold that extra-terrestrials might have visited, assisted in, or “kick-started CIVILIZATION on earth…not CREATED human life on earth. On van Daniken: Several scientists, such as Carl Sagan and I. S. Shklovskii, have written about Däniken's paleocontact and extraterrestrial visitation claims. Although Sagan did not rule out the possibility of visitation, he insisted that "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence", which Däniken fails to provide. Däniken claimed that a non-rusting iron pillar in India was evidence of extraterrestrial influence. Later, Däniken admitted in a Playboy interview that the pillar was rusty and man-made, and that as far as supporting his hypotheses goes "we can forget about this iron thing." Some also question von Däniken's credibility, as he has also knowingly put forward fraudulent evidence to advance his hypotheses, such as photographs of pottery "depicting UFOs", supposedly from an archaeological dig dating back to the biblical era. The PBS television series Nova determined that this was a fraud, and even located the potter who made them. When confronted with this evidence, von Däniken argued that the deception was justified because some people would only believe his ideas if they saw actual proof. As far as your statement: “People will always need to something to believe in. Always have and always will.” This need to believe in something…where do you suppose it comes from? Was is it born spontaneously, out of the randomness of evolution or natural selection…or was it implanted or inherited by a sentient higher power? ~Neurion

Neurion, That is a brilliant question and I am not sure I can give you an answer. I think it was part of the evolutionary step to begin with, things we couldn't explain - like the Sun and Moon and stars.Praying for crops and a good hunt, that sort of thing. In modern times I think it might be something as not wanting the physical existence to be the end of everything.Perhaps people need to believe there is something after we die, after all it is depressing to think once we peg it that's it. Yeah and I agree with the comments about Däniken's credibility, he can sound like a loon when he wants to, but I do think they are going to try and weave this sort of plot element into Prometheus.

I agree with you that it is the name of the ship, I just didn't go as far as to connect THAT with what the actual meaning or it's representation in Greek mythology. So, they got these Atmospheric Compressors that make the air breathable, we see them via Bishop in ALIENS... & It would seem that this art of "TERRA-FORMING" is KEY to the entire plot. Great stuff, and each day that goes by I get more and more excited to see what is sure to be the MASTERPIECE of our times as far as Science Fiction Film goes.

eheh im italian , ive watched alien no less than 100 times and for me is the "perfect" movie . YEs i agree ...we will ruin our surprise ...but we cant do nothing else ... What i fear is the "good" movie ... i fear that everything compared to alien will look pale ... it cant be a good movie , it must be an excellent one ... Is Ridley capable to build another classic ?...i fear not but what we have saw until today is good . Ridley will do a great directing ( even flops like 1492 and The Crusades have great cinematography ...and to be honest i like both ) and the cast is AWESOME ( add Sam Rockwell and we have the best cast possible ) , what i fear is the script . I fear it alot . Also i think we have received alot of smoke in the eyes ... --Theron and her naked push ups ...smoke ..she will have a minor role ( i hope ) --i think noomi rapace will not be the new ripley .... i think the movie will be on the shoulders of Guy Pearce , Idris Elba and Ben Foster ( i hope so ) and finally ....i cant wait 6 months ...

hey new to the forum so...HI! just joined to keep up to date with all the new on the film as I am a huge Alien geek. My hopes for the film I guess are all in the atmosphere and look of the movie. I don't want it to look too polished or new does that make sense? I heard a rumour Fassbender was playing an android has that been touched on? Interested in what angle they are coming from with this movie if we have earth-humans and androids but its not a direct prequel...over all very excited !!

Here's a synopsis that was "leaked" that I like. BTW, the company don't know of the capabilities of the Alien as a Bio weapon in this movie. It is a prequel and it will be 30 years before the events of Alien.I believe a big chunk of the story will be how the company find out about the Xeno. Earth. Year 2058. Archaeological digs in Africa reveals alien artifacts that proves humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space jockeys). These "Alien Gods" also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst the finds are coordinates to the Alien Gods' home-world. To Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than light travel a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported further into space to a scary yet fascinating world. The Alien Gods are proud of their "children", their first creation to reach such levels of intelligence. As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based technologies with the humans. But for one member of the Prometheus' crew it's not enough. In a treacherous act he steals the "bio-source code" to Terraforming, A technology at the origin of all Gods' powers, that could make humans equal to their creators. The Alien Gods may be scientists but are also ruthless conquerors, destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals. They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to "clean up" worlds before colonization. But something goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of Paradise. What's left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed alien planet. On their trail a survivor Alien God on a familiar ship with an ultimate mission. Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth. The Facebook page has an updated synopsis too: Release Date June 8, 2012 Genre Action, Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi Studio 20th Century Fox Description Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race. Starring Michael Fassbender; Noomi Rapace; Charlize Theron; Idris Elba; Guy Pearce; Ben Foster; and Logan Marshall-Green Directed By Ridley Scott Screenplay By Damon Lindelof, Jon Spaihts Notice the part about saving the human race!Never been said up until now.

I tend to agree with IGIGOU ...i think hes not far from what we will see ( maybe of course !! ) watching the leaked comicon photos i think that : 1) Prometheus movie it totally linked with Alien movie , i dont care of what the production says . 2) Fassbender looks like hes playng a big role ( maybe are just random sequences of the shooting they have filmed so far but i dont think so ) 3) Noomi Rapace looks she is in charge of the main role , she looks really Ripleyish BUT BUT there is that strange image of that hand on her ( she looks like noomi) cryochamber ..they are observing her cos she is infected ? or is just someone caring her ? hummm 4) the alien platform looks like the one from the first movie ..it just miss the space jockey with the trasmitter in the middle . 5) there are alot of images of that eggs and nothing about an "active" civilization ..maybe its to avoid spoiling but we can say that the "eggs" thing was something already well developed 6) looks like someone is infected ( the abdominal screening ) and is a woman maybe . If is the woman in the chamber before she looks like nooma rapace . And to be honest the subsequent photo , the woman that is falling down sick , looks again like Rapace . 7) we dont see neither Foster neither Guy Pearce ..both can play the good or the evil , i think that the many photos of theron are a bait ( she can be important for the plot but i dont think her role changed so much to become a main character ) 8) the images we have are really dark ..surely its to avoid to spoil much but again i dont see traces of an active civilization ..everything looks like the lv426

I had a idea that the andriods on this mission would turn in to the xenomorphes, In the original alien film the ailen was biomechanical and the androids in the aliens universe seemed like they where grown instead of built. It could be that the spacejockys created humans and then humans create andriods witch pissess of the jockeys in some way so they turn the humans creation agienst them witch kind of ties in with the prometheus myth.

well - noadays, the "old" ideas of god and creatism are "oldfashioned". these thoughts are simply unbelieveable, and less and less people want to believe. So the storyline of "living" creators, this "space jokey culture" is amazing, as it simply says - "...ok, this is a science fiction movie, a story straight out of the phantasy of the writers - but hey, its not LESS believeable then the stories about god, creatism and jesus!" And yes - thats TRUE! With some fantasy, you can create ANY explanation, HOW we came to LIVE and why we are here. There is no TRUTH, its just THOUGHTS how it COULD have happened, thousand and thousands years ago, that we came to life. NOone knows the complete true story where it all came from, and i think mankind will NEVER know it all, no matter how long they search. An ANT can never understand how a computer works - or even WHATS THE SENSE OF A COMPUTER. Simply - because its an ANT.....

Well no one will never be able to explain how ..from nothing ...the reality exist , a universe exist .. every scientific theory start from something at athe beginning ..but how that something arrived ( even just empty space , dimensions and time) no science will be never able to explain SO the creation theory will always live long life since will be never exist another plausible theory ...we will know the truth just dyng , in a way or another . Returning to talk about Prometheus i fear a bit the presence of androids cos are already a bit an abused theme ... and everyone want just to see if he/it is good or evil ... they will be bad as ash ? or good as the robot in Moon ? i hope the movie will not focus on that too much cos are human relactionships and emotions that make good movies ( moon ,sunshine are a good examples )

Yeah but the Derelict on LV-426 has been there for millions of years (Dallas states it is fossilised) in Alien, and Prometheus is set 30 years before Alien so the end of Prometheus cannot be the Derelict crashing on LV-426. Also, LV-426 does exist in this movie, it won't be blown up for another 80 years or so in Aliens. The movie must be centred around another "Jockey" or planet.Scott has stated they find a civilization, but very uncivilized behaviour.

You need to watch the movie again. LV-426 was not nuked from orbit. The terraforming operation's atmospheric processing station at Hadley's Hope was damaged by the gunfire from the marines pulse rifles. The fusion reactors went critical and blew up. Bishop barely managed to evacuate Hicks, Ripley, and Newt before the station went critical.

i think the process of fossilization depend very much by the atmosphere of a planet ...btw i dont think they will link the ending of prometheus with Alien too much ..you cant link with movie made 20 years ago since you cant assume that everyone is fond with the first alien , is not money wise . So i think there will be ALOT of references and explainations but the plot is a stand alone thing . also i think there is too much talking about nudity and sexual things ...we are talking of ridley scott , come on .

The term 'fossilisation' refers to a variety of often complex processes that enable the preservation of organic remains within the geological record. It frequently includes the following conditions: rapid and permanent burial/entombment - protecting the specimen from environmental or biological disturbance; oxygen deprivation - limiting the extent of decay and also biological activity/scavenging; continued sediment accumulation as opposed to an eroding surface - ensuring the organism remains buried in the long-term; and the absence of excessive heating or compression which might otherwise destroy it. Fossilisation can also occur on land, albeit to a far lesser extent, and includes (for example) specimens that have undergone mummification in the sterile atmosphere of a cave or desert. However in reality these examples are only a delay to decomposition rather than a lasting mode of fossilisation and specimens require permanent storage in a climate controlled environment in order to limit its affects. Maybe I should of said mummified and not fossilized, either way it's meant to of been there for a very long time. Not sure if atmosphere has anything to do with it as the eggs aren't fossilized. In the original script for Alien, there was meant to be a shot of a fossilized body of a Xeno on the Derelict too.(which the crew don't find btw)

in one of ridleys interviews, he clearly states that there will be no link to this movie and the first alien, but he also hinted that the space jokey in alien was fossilised, but that fossilisation occured slower as the planet had not been teraformed as yet. in saying that im more excited about seeing chalize theron do push ups naked to be honest.

My Educated guess, (Or My Psych analysis on Scotts Plotline Which includes all his other movies and his style of story telling) for “Prometheus” after observing the leaks, discussions and photos. (Enjoy!) 1) Humans discover a temple on earth that marks the pre-existence of the “Mala’Kaks Space jockeys (aliens.wikia.com), on earth and their home world address. They decipher the hieroglyphs and human technology is advanced quickly from agriculture to energy. 2) Years later a super conglomerate (Weyland / Yutani)…” emblem is seen on the vehicle pics”. Creates 2 Interstellar ships , The Magellan and the Prometheus to investigate 3) Each ship is run by 1 android 4) They arrive on the star system and land on the planet. They find an identical temple as on earth which leads them into the inner depths of the planet. 5) There they discover a society of aliens similar to the Mala’Kakas but different. The human crew is there just for observance and make no contact. They observe animalistic anarchy and a malevolent society based on eroticism and mutilation based on images of Gigers “Hypersexuality.” 6) They discover the inner sanctum of the high priest of the “Space Jockey” realm ,and steal samples, including the “bio slime and other artifacts. 7) A crew member is infected “ raped” to hell by these sex aliens, during the process of stealing. 8) After returning to the Magellan, they study the samples, the crew of the Prometheus stay on the planet for observance. There the first appearance of the” space jockey” is revealed to the audience. 9) Meanwhile the crew on the Magellan discovers the secrets of the “bio slime”.The injured crew member gets sick and starts a metamorphosis or is infected. This is the first generation human/alien hybrid is created. The crew controls its growth and isolates it. 10) Back on the planet the space jockey goes “ape shit” on these humans, and what they have done. Of course the crew fights back. This is a Military and exploratory mission. There loaded! (This is the action part of the movie!) 11) The Magellan is now contaminated. Head operations officer, (Charlice Theron) transfers all data from the ill fated Magellan to the Prometheus. She returns with the surviving crew and launches a Bio war of these first generation alien/hybrids man has now created “ accidently” against the Mala’Kaks. 12) We find out later she knows more secrets of the MalaKaks technology as deciphered in the hieroglyphs years earlier on earth. And that she herself is an android as well. 13) The remaining crew returns to the Prometheus. And one of the androids takes over the Ill fated Magellan on a suicide mission and uses it as a 500megaton bomb, on the Malakaks planet. 14) The Prometheus steals the fire of the gods! But the Space Jockey, conducts a last chase to chase the humans, unfortunately It does not know that his load of biological mutants gets free and infects him as well. He crashes and is never heard of again until many years later. 15) So in the future the Nostromo is sent back to retrieve a viable specimen that the Prometheus was unable to sustain.

1st of all regarding the post right above mine....or wherever it is as you read this in which some stated that the "Company" doesn't know the creature is deadly or the extent of it's bad intent".....no offense but a big part of that does not seem right, It is clearly stated that they, Wayland Yutani, wants the creature to use as a BIO WEAPONS enhancement early on in the storyline..and that much becomes crystal clear when they arrive on Fury 161 and another BIshop who says he is the real Human one but we never know for sure, and his men, start shooting at the custodial inmates in order to secure the creature they suspect is living within Ripley. someone else up there suggested perhaps... "Prometheus" stole something... I do not think Prometheus stole anything, I suspect it is the name of the ship involved in this film. It's just my little guess.... But I think you are dead bang on the money with the rest of it, and again, that was exactly the main idea in John Spaiths original script, that these Growers were Harvesting these creatures to help with the pre-colonization of planets {Burk calls them something professional, you know those things that purify the air and make it breathable for humans but forget what he calls them right now}. I think Prometheus just might be the connection, the ship itself, it may be the ship that actually is sent to investigate what happened to the first Space Jockey whom crash landed on LV426.

Thanx "Sparticus" for your insight!. But..my guess.is.. its the ships name "Prometheus" ".He who stole fire from the gods to give to humanity!" ..was the main idea of this film.. They stole the biological essence of life!..the Secret To forming life" on other worlds. I could be wrong . But my alcohol induced script above is what im guessing is going to happen next summer!

I think it was the original poster here that stated something I thought was extremely insightful and wise. That Space Jockey in particular he said, had quite obviously fossilized, or so it seems, and given this, The crew of the Nostromo that first encountered him, must have done so "MIllions" of years after it had arrived there. I had conveniently forgotten that fossilization happens like that over and only after millions of years have expired. Given this fact, there will either be a Massive Time Advancement sequence in the film, or else, the Space Jockey we are going to be "re-visiting"...is not going to be THAT ONE in particular. And again, this would be in line with the original script Spaiths submitted. There is one more thing... For me, that Space Jockey fits the description completely of "The Growers" in that Spaiths script. I say that Space Jockey is in fact a "Grower" from the spaiths storyline and was retained as part of the new script. I think what we will see is the "Origin" of said "Space Jockey" and on his own home world planet as well...as the growers prepare some soon to happen future mission in space which will obviously end with that species crash landing on LV426...and on a distant planet which I suspect..."Prometheus" will be the 1st ship bearing humans to investigate .

Here... is EXACTLY WHAT WAS SAID...BY Damon Lindelof It started as an Alien prequel. That is what everybody wanted it to be. Obviously, Ridley Scott has not made a science fiction movie in 25 years, since Blade Runner, so the idea that he's returning to this genre is huge. But there is a real issue which is — what is the state of the Alien franchise at this point in our lives? There has been Alien vs. Predator and all these things, and its been completely and totally diluted. I've always felt that really good prequels should be original movies. And the sequels to those prequels should not be the movie which already exists because, with all due respect to anyone who makes a prequel, but why would you ruin the greatest twist in the history of cinema, "Luke, I am your father," by showing me three movies which basically spoil that surprise. You can do movies which take place before Star Wars, but I don't need to see the story of the Skywalker clan. Show me something else which I can't guess the possible outcome of. There is no suspense in inevitability. So a true prequel should essentially proceed the events of the original film, but be about something entirely different, feature different characters, have an entirely different theme, although it takes place in that same world. That was my fundamental feeling about what this movie wanted to be. Despite Lindelof being labeled as the catalyst for what is now Prometheus, the screenwriter was quick to point out that the ideas are not entirely his. Truth be told, it wasn't script doctoring in the strictest sense because the draft that existed before I came on was written by this guy named Jon Spaihts and it was very good. And there were a lot of things in the movie, Prometheus, which were Jon Spaihts and I feel like somewhere in the media reconstruction of this story, the tale is that I come in, I pitch an entirely new story, and its so original that everything else gets thrown out and that's what we're doing. In my brain, that's not exactly what happened. But I also do feel that this movie is the movie I would want to see as a fanboy, take place in that Alien universe, which precedes the events of the original Alien, but is not necessarily burdened by all the tropes of that franchise with Facehuggers and Chestbursters, and all that stuff that I love... but it's sorta like, we've seen it before, can we do something different this time? And that's the movie that Ridley wanted to make. And when you're working with an auteur, you basically just shut your mouth and listen and try to transcribe and channel the vision of that person, and get out of the way. Lindelof said that he read the script and sent an email about his ideas, and eventually landed the job. I basically sent them an e-mail and said, here is what I think, and here is what I would do, if you were interested, and the next morning... I get the call and they are like "We like your take, can you come in to Scott Free?" I walk into a room and there is Ridley Scott and an executive at Fox and I verbally present, here is everything in the script that I like now, here's some of my thinking on it — what's the lay of the land? What are the issues that you guys are having? And we have a great 90 minute meeting in which I do a lot of listening. Again, I don't want to say I went in and WOWed them, when what really happened was I gave a really short presentation and then Ridley talked about the movie he wanted to make. And then, they decided to hire me. Prometheus reportedly takes place 30 years before the original Alien and, according to online rumors, will feature the classic Alien xenomorphs. We'll have to wait until Prometheus opens on June 8, 2012, to see if that's true. ------------------ So, what I am taking away from this is quite clear...."The Growers" and "The Original Alien" in it's tinniest baby infancy of form were wildly original ideas that are clearly NOT "FACEHUGGFERS" OR "CHESTBURSTERS" and could both actually make an appearance in this film, logic, as well, a massive amount of logic, suggest that both will and do. The truth is... no one other than those working on the film know anything at all, so everything that does not come directly from them is complete and utter speculation.

the 2nd one has been my desktop for over 1 and 1/2 years now. I have absolutely loved Giger's work since I was first introduced to it during the first film and I must say he is not only extremely talented but one of the single "coolest" artists IMO I have ever checked out. I kept the Led Zeppelin Bootleg Album for "Nebworth" all these years and am still seeing new things in it today. I think you are absolutely right. Very cool. I think it's on the ALIEN Remastered Quadrilogy DVD set, in which they included each and every piece of artwork he submitted for the original film.

FrantzPrometheus ForumPrometheus Ending
My opinion ( and excuse me for my bad english ) Ridley will want to connect prometheus to Alien to mark that the ALIEN thing belong to him ... he surely didnt like the half disaster they did with the sequels ( with the Aliens exception of course ) and i think he will want to reaffirm that the ALIEN thing belong to him . If there are no legal matters of course SO i think the ending WILL connect to ALien i a something concrete way i think the two major endings that are possibile with what we know are : 1) the crew sacrifice themselves to not let the company have the "alien toy" or to not let the Space Jockeys to spread the alien creatures in our world or to not let someon of the crew to carry the alien "infestation" back t earth - this is the bleak ending like alien 3 2) the crew sacrifice themselves but someone escape alive and seek refuge somewhere but not on earth ( very ridley scott ending , i love the fact that usually ridley give good endings not bleak ones that are so cool for geeks but ruin the movie in the long run )

@GHOST SOLITARE Thats a very indepth description from looking at the drawings but certainly made me look at the Space Jockey in a different light ha. Liked the idea that they possibly propel from deck to deck and light weight and nimble. Great imagination. Obviously were not sure if these are going to be what the Space Jockeys will look like but they do look brilliant i think. It would great to see something on scene like that. But also horrifing in some way :O

@Drogie21 The really scary thing is that this SJ can't turn at the waist. So if you are standing behind him he has to pivot to look at you. Hopefully he's not the lumbering docile giant that he would appear to be. As for terrestrial physiology legs are generally a reflection of the organisms environment. For instance animals that graze on tree's tend to have elongated lower limbs. A human stowaway wouldn't even be able to reach the controls on a SJ vessel, and more than likely they wouldn't respond to him. Just take a look at the length of those arms and imagine how wide, and how high this organism can reach. With all of these advantages I'm beginning to hope that it is lumbering, and docile. :)
