Aliens was a great action movie. One of the best action movies of our time. But it pales in comparison to the Original ALIEN. The concepts presented in the first film are completely dumbed down in the second. (i.e. the alien becomes a race of large bugs.) Again, don't get me wrong, ALIENS is a hell of a fun movie that I will always love. But its no ALIEN. Hey , you can do ALOT worse than Cameron directing a Prometheus sequel, but I would prefer Scott direct it. Hell, I prefer Fincher direct it! The reason ALIEN3 turned out less-than-perfect was because of the studios' interference. (Combine that with Fincher's first theatrical outing and that just makes a horrible combo.) Despite all the production/post-production problems, the end result was pretty good in my opinion, which speaks volumes for a first time director.

My favourite sci-fi TV series was Babylon 5 and for me, this show to this day still had the most realistic depiction of what OUR vessels would actually look like if we ever really went out there.. ie: Big ungainly things that required rotating sections in order to create fake gravity. Here is one of the cruisers... Pay attention to its name.. may be a little chuckle for this board if you know what I mean... Even NASA asked the shows creators for detailed models and renderings of it cuz it really flipped them out!!! But after these, I agree that the utilitarian EAGLES from Space 1999 were very good... again because they depicted a very realistic concept that we could probably achieve.

I definately buy the idea that their would be more than one Derelict Space Ship on that planet and that there could be more than one Temple/Hanger. As for that Disc, maybe you have a good point. Or it could be part of the flashback scene going back to the dawn of our creation and that the craft is some kind of Mothership they used to first visit Earth?

Well there is something going on as we can see that some crew members are trying to keep Shaw held against her will. Now have the conspired to get her impregnated, or have they found out she may have slept with Holloway and found out he has been infected by the Alien Organism, and then they see she is showing signs of being pregant but the embrio is growing at a fast rate. So they realise they have a Human/Alien DNA hybrid on their hands and the company want to go through with the birth so they can study and keep the resulting Organism.

I am still a big fan of the a Klingon Bird of Prey ;) I also remember when i was a kid that the Liberator from Blake 7 impressed me. Draconia 1 from Buck Rodgers i liked aswell. Oh and Commander Makara's Cruiser from Star Fleet X Bomber

Try this one on... What if that GIANT circular craft actually contains the entire temple complex and Jockey vessels are also housed within it??... ie: the other circular area seen in other photos. And what if, the entire thing is now buried on the Blue Meanie world that Prometheus visits and the Jockey vessel seen is only emerging from one of the internal bays??

I dont think so, i think its the right size for that chair. The only thing that is out of place is the size of the Jockeys arms compared to the Alien one. Maybe this ship/chair/pilot is not the one from Alien, i make this conclusion mainly because of the lack of sarcophagus in the 1979 Alien. Maybe like us the Space Jockey vary in size, Mankind can stand between 5-7ft tall Humans who are smaller or taller are considered to have growth defects. Maybe Space Jockeys can thus stand between 7 to 12ft tall varing from SJ to SJ. I dont buy the idea that the guy in the chair of that scene is a Human thats transformed into a Space Jockey just Smaller. Lets assume that the Chair/Cannon is the same size as the one in Alien, well even though the Prometheus Jockey does not fill it as much as Alien Jockey, you need to look how Small Humans are compared to that Chair and by comparing i would say the Jockey in that Seat is still at least 8ft tall but i would say 9ft.

It is Shaw on that table, the scenes all add up to it. 1) We have that scene of someones legs, note the black fluid/sludge. 2) Then the scene of a Squidy held above Shaws head (you can tell its Shaw) same black substance and same clothes. 3) In Imax Trailer there is another close up of her face while on that med table and with a Squid like Organism in front of her face. 4) Another scene in same clothes shows her walking away but struggling she has to hold onto sides to keep her self up and you notice stapples in her, showing that she has been cut open and sticthed back up. 5) Another Scene in same clothes again, shows her drop down to her knees. 6) There is a Scene in same clothes where she is looking in mirror and praying, maybe she is in pain and its start of the whole process of the above scenes. 100% it is Shaw on that table.

These guys have to basically fit everything in with the NWO, Illuminati and Anti Christ. Well they are going to go for the open ended, ending which can then go onto either a full Prequel or go off to explore something else. I dont think maybe this film will end with us concluding that the Derelict crashed at the end and the one in Alien are the same. This film could be about the creation of the Petrol Engine and Wheel so to speak, and thus at the end they could then link it to say a Motorbike (Alien Xeno) or go with a new direction and different Alien i.e a Car. So in this movie we just so the Engine and Wheel invented which was both used to create Bikes and Cars. Bit of a funny analogy, i hope you get what i mean? This film could show Who could be behind the creation of the Alien Xeno, and hint at maybe how it came to be but not go in detail of how it actually came to be.

@ Heustess... Who knows. Whos to say the Prometheus doesn't have a number of nuclear tipped missiles or an electromagnetic Railgun. ((could have been justified for use in dealing with asteroids or meteor for that matter)) And, I just noticed that early concept art in the media section for the "rover" I guess seems to show it armed with something like a 20mm autocannon ?? We should celebrate the feat of counting both Scott and Cameron as auteurs of this illustrious franchise. Even Fincher has established himself, so if only he was at the helm of Alien 3 today, my oh my what a trilogy we might have had. I'd just change the title from Alien 3 to Alienses.

@perps, no what I mean is that in the same way that God is perhaps a fabrication of humanity, we are a fabrication of the space jockeys - they've just gone a step further and made actual lifeforms. The space jockeys built us as idols of their religion - focal points of worship. Now that doesn't make us more powerful, it makes us merely religious paraphernalia. I think this concept could be worked on.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS** Seems to me that the latest trailer has already spoiled the whole movie. From the tralier: -Alien message -Let's go see the aliens -Alien is evil -Alien attempts to leave for Earth -Kamikaze mission to stop the alien ship succeeds at the cost of Prometheus and crew Speculation: -Atmosphere of alien world is destroyed during the fracas. -Nostromo finds what remains several years later.

Seems a little played out from alien and aliens, but I can totally see it happening that way. I think Prometheus is going to be a ton of accidental "oh shit what have we done" - curiosity killed the cat type stuff. BUT, that doesn't mean that Vickers or David don't figure it out or their programming gets changed along the way to do just what you've stated fellow @fanboy79.

for some strange reason references of jurassic park keeps popin in my head, ya know when i watch the trailer and shaw is giving the presentation to everyone david is there listening so i am assumming the weyland corp is willing to fund this little expedition with other intentions. it seems weriod to me that david being a android ask shaw can read the markings....

@ Corey; I heard it was used for that in an article. That the SJ would use it to "seed" new life onto barren planets, effectively terraforming them. I assumed it needed no extra DNA to begin the transformation. However, Canadaphil makes a good point, maybe the planets chosen have the beginnings of life such as bacteria or whatever. Which brings us to David8; who knows what the SJ technology is like? Maybe it can work with any matter, the fact David is synthetic is not a problem for the transformation cycle to begin and that David does in fact become a host, thus creating a new Xenomorph that is biomechanical in structure.

maybe RS and DL are going to run prometheus right into alien and the next film will be the Heliades running into the Prometheus film. it would be new ground (mostly) in film making--telling the story backwards but at w whole film level instead of chapters in 1 film. ( sorry @CandaPhil-I'm off topic))

Yes, CanadaPhil.........the engines seem to strike first, which makes no sense, unless the Prometheus is braking hard, or it's the SJ ship which is actually ramming the Prometheus from behind.
