so hi, i´m ridley s - coming from germany and a huge fan of the alien franchise - can´t wait for prometheus.... it´s great that sir scott returned to this, i hope that i´m able to see the movie in the netherlands when i´m on vacation there in june - here in germany it only will be released in august :-( until later in the forum :-)

I've given up to extract a timeline or generally make some sense out of it. It's impossible at this stage and god, have I watched all the trailer and teaser material! And like [i]Kane77[/i] said, we're probably seeing different versions of the same events.

You can see these eel-like creatures on a mural-like set seen in a picture taken during the Iceland filming last summer.

Personally, as a woman, I am not comfortable with this idea, and one of the reasons I like the original Alien is because it is an equal-opportunity....impregnator, if you will. I don't foresee an overtly violent rape scene of a female in this film. It would be in bad taste. Certainly, Alien has always had sexual symbols and I don't think that will ever change (nor should it), and yes, the facehugger/chestburster is invasive in a sexual way and symbolic of rape of women AND men, but that is completely different than a straight-up graphic sex or rape scene of a woman. I hope this is not something ANYONE in their right mind would want to see, nor should we expect it in a big-budget film. Plus, if they are even considering it to be PG-13, you can bet your ass it won't be something like that. Now, as far as what they're doing to her on that medical table, don't have a clue.

Another fool"s theory on the Promethueus plot. Don't read any further if you don't like possible spoilers: Here goes: Invitations to a graduation party have been left behind on many habitable planets by the Engineers who have seeded these planets thousands of years in the past. The only requirement is that the species being invited need to be aware that they have been invited and have the means to get to the party. Humans find the invitation and head off to the party following the directions left behind. Unbeknownst to the humans, another species arrives first but have other plans. They want to be the new "Kings" on the block. What do new "Kings" do? On earth, some Kings kill off all of the old Kings children so there will be no retributions or acts of vengeance at a later date. But there is only one problem. The new "Kings" don't know where all the children live (earth) or where the earth is. Or for that matter where all the other "earths" are. Invitations were left behind on several planets represented by the pyramids visisble as Prometheus comes in for a landing. Each pyramid represents a different planet seeded by the Elders (Engineers). Each pyramid contains artificats that will be vaguely familiar to each species when they get around to exploring their particular pyramid. Our pyramid has the big head with the ampules containing the either the bioformer used to seed our particular planet or the roach bait to wipe out whoever comes by. The Blue Meanies are the species that beat us to the party. They are the equivalent of child molesters 3rd class. They have laid a trap for all the other species invited. As the new species arrive for their diploma, the Blue Meanies annihilate them (after getting the directions back to their home planet, of course). They then follow the directions to that home planet and kill all the children with the Bio-Weapons they have on board their space vehicle. They use the space cannon/wormhole creator thingy to eradicate the "children". When they are thru killing the "children", they have a turn-key planet to propagate their species. They then return to the Engineers planet and set the trap for the next species. Eventually, they will get directions to all of the habitable planets that the Engineers seeded. Not only are they bad, they are lazy too! But something goes wrong with the Blue Meanies plan. The humans figure out that its a trap and open up a can of "whup-ass" on the Blue Meanies. We may be smaller than them, but we are pure of heart and we manage to bring down their space vehicle. However, we now have no way to get home. I don't think we have seen the Engineers yet in any of the trailers. I think they are a dying, benevolant race that meant well but some of their "children" turned out bad, really bad. Anyway, that's my theory. You are free to blow holes in it. Criticism is appreciated.

Mario Bava's "Black Sabbath" scared the living shit out of me when I was 8 years old. It's still one of the scariest films ever, not to mention the fact that the band Black Sabbath took their name from this film.

Also in one of the trailers the guy who is throwing also has elongated arms and legs. Not sure if thats supposed to throw us off or what. So we have 3 different looks of burning mohawk guy. Not sure what to think anymore! Can't wait

Yes... I definately think it will have something to do with an unwanted sexual impregnation type of thing. The eel thingy though... Not sure yet. I do believe everythingn is out of sequence and meant to mislead, but using the prior Alien movies as a guide... The EEL LIKE thing that can burrow or bite was always the aftermath of a CHESTBURST and that eel like thing would in turn grow extremely rapidly into whatever new life form it is. Is it that this EEL will in effect be a "re-surrected" BLUE MEANIE ??

It does look like he is mutating thats for sure, and maybe he is the crew member who has that Organism that enters his suit via a tear in it? I think a important clue that could do with answers could be the scene with Shaw running away from a Tenticle type Organism... here. Is this a simular organism that gets into the one crewmens Suit via tear? Is this what becomes to the Organism that they take out of Shaw? Or does this Organism impregnant her? The Mohhawk guy Fifield could indeed be mutating into maybe Proto Xeno, but who knows. I think this Movie has so many un answered questions and maybe when we see it, it could be that a lot of stuff we assume could be very wrong indeed. I expect it to be a think outside the box kind of movie.

The cave markings appear to have been made by humans. Perhaps this was information dispersed as mythology, originating at one source and carried to other parts of the world through human migrations. The fidelity of the proportions seems unlikely but not impossible. Also, Shaw admits "We were so wrong." Perhaps she was wrong about it being an invitation in the first place. History may have erased the original motive for the star map. As in "Alien" it may have been a warning.

Yes... In the literal myth, I think we are formed from CLAY by the Titan Prometheus. But I feel that is in fact the first modern man at the moment of being created out of whatever the "Jockey" for lack of a better word has done.

That´s a cool theory but I don´t think that will be the outcome. In a interview I read ages ago one of the exec said we will "be seeing the alien as it is". That the alien bound and get the shape of the organism it attacks. The xenomorph in alien looks like that because the human. In Alien 3 the dog etc etc. Now we will see what it looks like with no host. More: In an interview they said we "would see the gorilla of the alien". I think that the alien we know is a weapon the spacejockeys made for cleaning out planets before they terraform it. Or after they terraform it like this. The alien "mimic" the host and so on become a more lethal predator and can live in that particular condition.

PERHAPS we see different production stages in the trailers, I mean, it could be that the fire was edited graphically in the later version .. they didnt think that 4000 Pro freaks were anatomizing the trailers so much..hahah

Good point as it does look in that scene as though some kind of liquid is moving through the guys veins and it looks like his head has a dent or damage to it. In the scene slowed down you see movement in that damage to Skull you also see the viens apear. It could be a disease but also could look like he is repairing himself. So with that CanadaPhil maybe he started not as clay but some kind of clay like liquid substance and this substance is changing into that humaniod Character. So maybe it is the first Man being created from some kind of Sludge?

I think he brought vision to Alien. As a director, who directs things, the movie would have been much different visually, emotionally and rhythmically had it been someone else. And let's face it, apart from the Weyland plan, or Ash's hidden nature, Alien's story isn't the thing that makes the movie great.

Yes, I suppose that could make sense if it is the Prometheus were landing on the road. Seems like such a sacrilegious act! That would be like an alien race visiting us and landing on one of our graveyards! We will have to see how this storm is played out in the final film, but it sure looks like a direct result of the end of paradise! Perhaps after the explorers have desecrated some alien artifact, or as a direct result of David's theft of some alien bioform material.

Big Dave, That's exactly the kind of thing I was thinking would embarrass Ridley.

Ridley likes ideas that are terrifying in and of themselves without the help of visual effects. That's not to say he won't make them visually terrifying as well, but I think for something to be embarrassing for him, it would have to happen to a woman and have some sexual component. I don't think he would be embarrassed by having [i]anything[/i] happen to a male character. What do you think?

I think of "Bladerunner" as Film Noir with SciFi elements in the same way I see "Alien" as a horror film with SciFi elements. It's not a straight up SciFi like "2001: A Space Oddyssey". I don't think "Bladerunner" was ever meant to be the kind of action-scifi we're used to today. I like that it's introspective and dark and melancholy.

Are these screen shots from the IMAX trailer? I noticed that shot seemed different in the IMAX trailer compared to the other ones....seems like the guy throwing the other guy is at a different angle

Well one of the other Giger Art Works that contains a Eel like Organism, does depict a Scene that we cant go posting on here. In that one Art Work lets say we see a Eal that decides to entre a mutating female by a certain passage. Which would make a WTF Scene and 100% make this movie a No Chance PG-13 If i used that Artwork as a basis of a idea, as to a clue. Then maybe that scene with that Tenticle/Eel thats chassing after Shaw ends up catching her and well maybe thats how she gets Pregnant with Squidy?

^^^^ I think none of this. How is any of that in any way embarassing? I think we have need even had a look at the truly "embarassing" thing yet. And I believe Giger himself when asked if something is going to make an appearance, I think he used a phrase something like.... "There is going to be something new, and it will be very GRAUSLICH". For a certifiable weirdo like Giger to say something like Its going to be very "Grauslich", sort of makes me think we have NOT seen the WTF moment yet.

Now thats very odd..... I assumed that the crew members was burning something and that mutated man jumps from ATV to Stop them. But indeed in that shot he is also on fire, so maybe he is being burnt then jumps on ATV to get out of way and then attacks again. I just dont know anymore, also some of those images the Space suit looks a little Space Jockey, now the one scene of suposed Space Jockey near Shaw looks smaller than the Blue Guy scene. I guess the more we look into the trailers the more of a puzzle this movie becomes.

I think I've got it: One of the SJs figures out Shaw has daddy issues, so he gets her drunk and plays the role, then lets his worm buddy impregnate her when she's passed out.

Yeah you're right, UNLESS...ummm...I got nothing. I know Ridley said that he was embarrassed about how gruesome some of the movie was when asked if there were any "treats" like the chestburster scene. So, what would embarrass him more?

Putting it in could be a posibility but then you would see it in the stappled up scene as she would have a bump like being pregnant.

Yeah, you guys are assuming you know the chronology of these scenes in the story. Why couldn't they be putting it inside her instead of taking it out?

Looks like shaw is the fallen hero & vicker's mayb the real one. Ridley alws has an element of surprise. No wonder vicker's has a imp role. Sm1 shouts "cut it out". Could be related to this scene
