Tbh this is a bit of a hard one to think about for me.
Crap, it accidentally got put on the Aliens Forums by mistake!
Could someone please delete this post?
Looks like Neytiri is pregnant in that first pic.
Cameron has already filmed Avatar 3 alongside Avatar 2
Honestly I'd rather nor have a godzilla in the past, or in a documentary style, because it completely seperates him frommany themes that could surround him
Being a balance of nature is when Humans wreck everything, from everything in Mv with janjira to Mechagodzilla, to 1954
They could do a live action streaming mini series that's somewhat similar to the upcoming Prehistoric Planet (which, like the upcoming Godzilla/Monarch series, is set to be on Apple TV+). They could mostly do live action with most of the CGI effects being the Titans (if it's set in the past, they wouldn't have to worry about making big city destruction scenes) which could help with the budget of the series. I think the best direction for the MonsterVerse would be exploring the history of the Titans in the past.
@SasquaDash: Definitely. If they decide to explore the war that was fought between the Kong and Godzilla species in a future film, maybe they’ll explore it through the perspective of Godzilla and Kong’s ancestors, and the humans can just be side characters.
I will say though, that doing something like this would carry a lot of financial risk behind it. Like I said in my post above, to do a movie with an all monster cast would cost a shitload of money, and when you consider that the MonsterVerse hasn’t been the most profitable film franchise so far, to save themselves from a potential box office flop, perhaps Legendary will do it on a smaller and cheaper platform like animation or live action streaming. Or maybe they’ll decide to just take the risk if they feel that there’s enough interest.
What’s your take?
Here are my thoughts…
I think the main plot will revolve around another monster challenging Kong’s status as King of the Hollow Earth, while the secondary plot will revolve around Kong developing his relationship with Jia, and possibly forming a connection with another Kong (assuming more Kongs will be introduced). If Kong does meet another Kong, they’ll either be another member of his species, or belong to a subspecies of Ape Titans, much like how Doug was a member of a subspecies of Gojiras.
As for the human characters, I have a strong feeling that they aren’t going to be as much in the spotlight going forward. Based on how many casual moviegoers were happy that the human characters didn’t get as much time to shine as the monsters did in GVK, I wouldn’t be surprised if the monsters take the spotlight going forward. That’s not to say that we won’t get anymore human screentime or even character development. It’s just that their stories won’t be as important as the monsters’. This is just how the MonsterVerse has developed since G14. With each movie, as the monsters get more and more screentime, they become more well rounded and personified.
I definitely think we’ll see new biomes along with new creatures. I also think we’ll see variants of the Skullcrawlers and other Skull Island creatures. After all, we did briefly see red Leafwings flying around in the Hollow Earth in GVK, so I would’ve be surprised if we see different versions of the Skyer Buffalo, Mother Longlegs, and Sporemantis. We may even get to see the Shimidah, a scrapped monster from GVK that Team Kong were supposed to run into while traveling through the Hollow Earth, along with that giant Hellhawk that was shown in the GVK artbook.
Something else to consider is that the Iwis from Skull Island originally lived in the Hollow Earth before they were banished to the surface world with Kong’s species by the Gojiras. So I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that we’ll see more Iwis in the Hollow Earth, possibly even living with a tribe of other Kongs.
As for the main antagonist, I believe they’ll either be Camazotz or an original monster. If they turn out to be an original monster, I honestly don’t know what type they’ll be at the moment.
I could see them easily doing one with Kong or his species, since they are extremely human-like and very expressive (plus in my opinion, the scenes that focused on Kong were some of the highlights in GvK). They could also make it feel like a docu-series similar to the Walking With series.
I would say make three Avatar movies (one left), and then it's enough. Very few have improved after three. Alien R anyone?
The wrists thing has really made me more excited than i was before, idk why its just cool.
Blue favoritism remains present
But pretty cool not going to lie
The new avatar looks cool
You bring up good points to support why this scene wasn't absolutely odd, but I will say with everything else jammed into this film, I don't think a Raptor swimming in ice water is necessary at all. Also - people falling into ice water and not dying relatively soon afterwards always makes me roll my eyes in movies. The threat of falling in ice is fine but actually doing so sends the body into an intense state of shock. Definitely wouldn't be able to out swim, or fight a Raptor underwater.
I get Fast and Furious vibes from JW Dominion with the latest trailer... I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Thank You :)
As for the Pyro's wrists, they actually are in the right position, Steve Brusatte mentioned that they fixed the wrists for some of the theropod dinosaurs, the Giga, Pyroraptor, Allosaurus, Therizinosaurus and Atrociraptors have properly position wrists. I even noticed that there were some shots in the Prologue where it looked like Rexy's wrists were position correctly. They've definitely made more progress with dinosaur accuracy than the previous movies (even if it's still not 100% perfect).
Also did Collin Fix the broken wrists on Pyro? I noticed the same with Giga?
Are people going through.. INNACURACY WITHDRAWLS??
First of all your counterargument was amazing. Literally dismantled my argument very well.
I'm not convinced that its a normal behavior though but yeah. The paleo community is full of some
people.
Theres a rant about feathered dinosaurs that the paleo community got youtube to mark as inappropriate, even though it's more kid friendly than most things.
The anger of thousands descends upon you when you make a wrong step.
It kinda disturbed me when the guy was just suddenly had the bamboo in him. Man that would be an interesting horror scene in a horror movie.
The scene with the Mother Longlegs is probably one of the most unique giant spider scenes ever.
It has something I have been wanting from the Kaiju genre in a while, Horroresque elements
I would give Kong: Skull Island an 8 (Great), or 4 stars. I personally think it's the best movie in the MonsterVerse (so far) despite some flaws. I feel like it had the best balance between the humans and the monsters, and the action scenes are amazing (after years of seeing Kong being shot down by planes and helicopters, seeing him absolutely destroying the helicopters was insanely satisfying). Marlow is easily one of my favorite human characters in the MonsterVerse.
I don't think it's going to be any better because the best fights are when your openents looks like theyy can kick your ass easy and a woman shows no respect for all the predator's Galactic warrior catalog. and she just got a bad attitude..not fair so its going to suck on that part but the actions seens may be good.
I've gone back and forth on giving it either a 7 or a 6 in the past (both scores are pretty solid)
As far as rounding up or down, I guess it depends on how much you enjoy it.
The picture of the Giga and Rex facing off is really similar to the Rex vs Spino image. It could potentially be callback to it.
Some of the non avian animals that were brought up in the meme I made actually do hunt in water.
Bears swim and hunt fish all the time.
Jaguars will actually dive into water to hunt fish and caiman.
The wolf image I used was of a breed of "coastal wolf" which live on the pacific coast of Canada. They spend a lot of time swimming and primarily hunt fish and seals. They're actually genetically distinct from regular gray wolves.
As far as Pyroraptor being able to swim, there isn't enough evidence to prove or disprove it. Halszkaraptor is part of the same family as Pyroraptor (both being types of dromaeosaur), and it is thought to have been able to swim and dive, so it's possible that other dromaeosaurs could as well. The JW Pyroraptor is genetically altered and does have adaptations that allow it to swim.
As far as divining in cold water. The pyroraptor seen in the movie was specifically placed in a cold snowy environment, which indicates that it was designed and bred to withstand freezing temperatures, so it's feathers and possible fat act as insulation for it.
There's definitely arguments you can make against the idea of a swimming pyroraptor. I was actually pretty iffy about it at first. My point was that the idea isn't really as crazy or unrealistic as some people are claiming, and it's definitely not getting upset over (or, in the case of some people in the paleo community, throwing juvenile tantrums)
Also is this just me or is the picture with the giga and t rex, eeriely similar to the spino and rex pciture?
It would be interesting, but im not sure id want that personally, but im sure lots of other people do
Im not bitter
honestly i migh rank it a bit higher, it had a lot of potential and could have been really good and impactful if handled better.
7.
so thats 3.5
Should i round up or down?
Theres only one thing i can really think of that could somewhat discredit your argument, is that most of the birds that you list are adapted to more aqautic lifestyles. Note the build and beak shapes as a reference. And another thing is many animals can swim yes, but are not adapted to it so only swim when needed or enjoyment.
Most the animals that you list can swim, but do not hunt underwater. The differnece is the pyroraptor seems to be trying to hunt from the water. Which is something it wouldnt be able to do.
It doesnt have a hydrodynamic build, nor like the birds that do swim and hunt underwater, have a spearing beak or bottomfeeding duck bill. And most of the non avian animals you describe keep theyre heads above the water while you swim.
Its the just the behavior makes no sense
I mean its not impossible. But like would a raptor dive under ice to attack a person? Because the water is freezing and it might not escape.
But hey! Welcome to Jurassic Park!
I love kotm the only movie that's better in the monsterverse is Godzilla 2014.
hoooooraaaaay
There I fixed it, 400 members!

Im not leaving rodan! hes to lonely!
Oops, I made a typo in the first sentence, I accidentally put "They're" instead of "Their"...
EDIT: The typo has been fixed, Thank You Chris!
The way I usually rate movies is:
10 (Legendary), reserved for the best of the best.
9 (Excellent)
8 (Great)
7 (Good)
6 (Okay/Average)
5 (Mixed Bag)
4 (Mediocre/Poor)
3 (Bad)
2 (Terrible)
1 (One Big Pile Of S***!), only reserved for the worst of the worst.
As of now, I would probably give it a 6 (Okay/Average), or a 3/5. It has a lot of great moments and the monster scenes are really entertaining, but the story and human characters do have a lot of issues and the movie kind of suffers from having too many things happening at once. Still, I really enjoy the movie and a 6 is a pretty decent score.
I also made this meme to sum up my thoughts on this:
