"players exploit the strength of the Titans"
I hope that means that we actually get to play as the Titans.
Someone give me a Nintendo Switch or a good PC please ;-;
I think it's more suitable as a villain :D
I like the idea of humanity trying to create their own Titans, it fits with the theme of messing with nature's balance. The idea of Earth's natural Titans having to compete with new manmade Pseudo-Titans could be a really interesting concept for the series.
But i do agree it makes a lot more sense in its original film.
Monsutazerokyu
to be fair, not all the titans are really godlike anymore. And they already made a human titan now, Mekagojira
UPDATE 6/7/2022:
4th weekend actuals have finally arrived from World of KJ via Kogyotsushin. Three new movies were released this weekend, but Shin Ultraman only dropped from #2 to #3. It made another $1.97 Million, confirming its total was a little higher than the estimates had: 3.182 Billion Yen ($24.8 Million).
This brings the attendance a touch higher with 2.14 Million. It has topped the following Godzilla films:
Godzilla vs. Biollante - 2.00M tickets
Godzilla 2000 - 2.00M tickets
Godzilla: King of the Monsters - 1.95M tickets
Godzilla vs. Gigan - 1.78M tickets
Godzilla vs. Hedorah - 1.74M tickets
Godzilla x MechaGodzilla - 1.70M tickets
All Monsters Attack - 1.48M tickets
Godzilla x Megaguirus - 1.35M tickets
Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla '74 - 1.33M tickets
Godzilla vs. Kong - 1.25M tickets
Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. - 1.20 tickets
Godzilla: Final Wars - 1.0M tickets
Godzilla vs. Megalon - 0.98M tickets
Terror of MechaGodzilla - 0.97M tickets
Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters - < 0.17M tickets
Godzilla: The Planet Eater - < 0.14M tickets
Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle - < 0.09M tickets
Attack on Titan - Part 1 and GMK are next on the chopping block.
As of this past weekend, Shin Ultraman is now the #1 highest grossing live action, Japanese movie of 2022. The #2 Japanese movie of the year, including anime. And #6 overall.
The 4DX release next weekend should boost some sales. Otherwise this week will probably be a slow crawl.
Charts have been updated.
MonsterZero9, Kaiju's origins tend to change
no.
biollante would never work in the monsterverse.
she cant be a titan, since she isnt exactly godlike.
and we already got a coupe of "earth/plant titans" like mothra, methuselah and behemoth.
in my opinion biollante only works in the context of godzilla vs. biollante.
I'll wait until I actually see it, The Predator was hyped up similar due to reaction against Predators
Crashtag
I don't recall the Predator franchise ever calling the Predators the ultimate hunter/killer. They come to Earth for a simple reason, to hunt the most dangerous game.
Currently the humans are the most dangerous life on earth and thus the Predators are always hunting humans because we are a challenge they seek.
When not hunting on Earth, they hunt other similarly dangerous creatures across the cosmos, like xenomorphs for a classic example, HUMANS ARE NOT SPECIAL!
Maybe a point is missed here as the predator keeps returning to earth because it isn't the ultimate hunter/killer..we are!)
I would love to see Biollante in a MonsterVerse movie
THAT IS JUST WRONG AND SCARY
never seen it
I am re-engineering the shoulders so Kiryu can have both the suitmation option and the SHMA option (the shoulder armor will rotate and will not lift with the arm).
#RenewRaisedByWolves
I really had my doubts about this movie but after seeing that trailer I’m way more enthusiastic for it than I was for The Predator.
Granted, I was optimistic about the last one, but this does look excellent.
It is actually possible to time travel, but not long to the past, max is 15 years because of current technology and the war currently led which destroyed the progress humanity did, aldo people can only jump to the past
It is actually possible, every move, every breathe might or did alter the timeline. But we won't feel or see it
UPDATE 6/5/2022:
Early estimates for the 4th weekend, from Eiga Ranking News, put Shin Ultraman at an estimated 3.173 Billion Yen ($24.2 Million). I will be adjusting the charts to better reflect gross in "Yen" rather than US Dollars. The reason being the exchange rate has fallen to an all-time low. It has never been this low 20-21 years!
This best example of this is comparing Shin Ultraman's current gross to Godzilla: King of the Monsters' final gross. Godzilla: King of the Monsters ended its run at 2.84 Billion Yen, which was worth $25.8 Million in 2019. But Shin Ultraman has exceeded that gross by around 300 Million Yen. Regardless, at the moment 3.2 Billion Yen is only worth $24.2 Million--Less than the USD exchange that King of the Monsters raked in.
(The exchange rate doesn't really effect domestic Japanese films, but for Hollywood films this is a big issue. While Hollywood movies are little more popular this year, compared to the last few, the exchange rate is forcing them to make less money for overseas studios.)
Meanwhile, Shin Ultraman's estimated attendance is at 2.12 Million. This might be higher, since my estimates were a little low last weekend and this past Friday. (The later of which is according to Natalie.)
Either way, this means Shin Ultraman has surpassed the attendance of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla vs. Biollante. It should take out the last, and most successful Monsterverse movie in Japan, Godzilla (2014), tomorrow. Attack on Titan - Part 1 and GMK are in its scope.
Actuals will be released either Monday or Tuesday. Charts will be updated then as well.
Godzilla Vs. Batman would've worked so well in the Adam West show, RIP.
UPDATE 6/3/2022:
Heading into the 4th weekend Shin Ultraman (according to Eiga Ranking News) is at an estimated 2.94 Billion Yen ($22.5 Million) and has surpassed Godzilla: King of the Monsters' 9+ week attendance climb in just 3 weeks w/ an estimated 1.96M attendance. (Likely higher since Natalie reported 1.92 million in attendance yesterday.)
3 new movies open this weekend, including the latest Gundam anime. However, Shin Ultraman gets released in 4DX next weekend which is quite popular in Japan and should boost sales next weekend. The new 4DX poster was released yesterday:
Also of somewhat related interest, the theme song for Shin Ultraman, "M87", was reported to be #1 on Japan's Billboard, via Natalie. A music video was released in celebration of both the song and movie's success:
Box office will be a little slower in its 4th weekend, but it should surpass the 3 Billion Yen benchmark! Actuals after the weekend.
