Nice post Spartacus, I think you mean that new 'H.R.Giger Revealed' dvd with the moving images don't you? The 'Erotovisions' are phenomenal. You're right about how the later films (with the exception of the creature in #3 - that was an exquisite design)dumbed down the Alien form rendering it so far removed from the Necronomicon imagery as to make it look like an oily, swimming blind dinosaur. As you infer, this was because of stupid Hollywood money-mentality, wrong choices for concept design and general art department and lack of artistic execution while making the later films. I really hope to God this Tom Rothman fella levels well with Scott's vision and comes to a hair's breadth compromise for the rating - never mind the blu-ray version, the long-awaited, definitive filmic Giger phantasms and there attendant shock value should be rightly experienced at the cinema.

of course we saw them , and not less than 5 times each day :) there are ALOT of shoots regarding medical tables or cryogenic stasis or something like that ... but can also be that this part was the most "ready" for some footage to be exposed . I will not surprised also if the giant head statue with the eggs around is on earth

Yup I was just reading and got distracted looking for travel arrangements to Basel, Switzerland (91miles) from Musee de H.R. Giger. I think I am going to take a week in January and go. 1,200USD for a week stay, I don't think I can pass that up.

red hood, I think it took atleast 3-6 months of deep space flight. I am sure not everyone was impregnated all at the same time it would have been the trickle effect. 1-2 Aliens popped up (2 days gestation, 3-4 days of growth) then 4, (another 5-6 days) then 8, (another 5-6 days) then 12(another 5-6 days), it starts becoming off balance. Then they barricaded the doors and blocked off the vents and etc. I can see several weeks of siege taking place as they kept getting plucked out by the Aliens before becoming deserted. That left Newt to her own devices for several months as she scurried the vents being the only thing small enough to get down them. That's just my take on it. Regards, Rick

The answer is No, During hyper sleep you do NOT age. It is the equivalence of suspended animation. There is also this... Newt clearly HAS aged, as Ripley discovers when she picks up the picture of her underneath the ventilating fan when she first encounters her, but not from having traveled through space while in hyper sleep, rather, apparently from regular human growth as a citizen pre "attack of the Xenomorphs", within the Wayland-Yutani complex on LV-426. The give away there is...she was in Hyper-Sleep for 57 years as BURKE so emphatically pronounces to her, and her looks there are the exact same as at the end of ALIEN...57 years have gone by...and Ripley clearly hasn't aged a day.

The cryogenic sleep was made exactly to not make the people aging during very long space travels ... ( and in aliens, at the beginning , in a deleted scene Ripley get the news that her daughter is already dead ) ..btw i suppose that the sulaco trip was about a month ( maybe some geek have more precise timeline )..not that long anyway . And Newt made that kind of trip eventually some time before the sulaco voyage . In another deleted scene we see the Newt family that went to look for the alien spaceship ( an indication from Burke Pj ), they got infected and slowly all the colony was infected OR overrun by the aliens ..the lost contact from LV426 did lead to the rescue mission with the sulaco .

That's the thing of it Frantz, Rick, RedHood...in order to get all of it, you have to see the full extended versions of all 4 films. it's truly remarkable how massive the difference is with just a few added scenes to each film, especially ALIENS which had I think 28 or so minutes of added material in it's extended version and just FYI, the added material in the extended Alien 3, IMO, created an entirely curiosity provoking and completely different film in it's meaning and mood than the one seen in theaters. ***Check out my Thread called "Necronomicon" if you can see it {not sure if it's even showing up} and tell me what your thoughts are on all that.*** Ridley truly is a the ONLY man to do this Other than H.R. Giger and what these 2 guys created off of each other's creativity is one the greatest stories IMO in the history of film, and I think we are about to see their/it's crowning achievement .

If you love Necronomicon. Download Google Earth and look up Musee HR Giger, Guyeres, Switzerland and you can see the layout of his Bar with "Delicious Alien Coffee" Maybe we could convince Ghostface to market a "Prometheus-Movie" Sanctioned Expedition to Guyere's, Switzerland to check out Gigers Museum and we all meet at Giger's Bar for Alien Coffee.

This is pretty cool! VERY DARK! Welcome back to science fiction Ridley Scott! If this is the way Prometheus plays out then I will be pretty stoked. Its bizzare, twisted and scary and gives that felling of being stranded. I hope this is something thay will spawn to more movies, comics, just an new universe for the space jockeys. This almost sounds like Pandorum but value size.

any plot "leak" was a fake until now ( the only leaked plot that have a bit of credibility is the first one , that was posted directly in the IMBD synopsis page ) .... the perverse things , as Ridley said , as surely about genetic play , perversion dont mean anything sexual ... that is a sexual perversion in fact . I think the SJs do perverse genetic play withou any kind of morals and without being GODS ( they just play with what exist already ) ...if there is a subtle reference to something kinky is just to make an evil grin on our faces ...dont expect anything explicit or trash .

[b]Nostalgica...[/b], I´d like to have the jockey run a bar in the reception area of a seventies style convention hall. H.R. Giger, even if you never read this, mind we´ve all (@ least me) a crush on the seventies (affluence)... So maybe you can change the script and equip the jockey w. some of those large porno-glasses and, not at least, embellish some scenes wit `easy listening´.

There are several of the shots we are already familiar with and there are several others that I know I haven't seen. 0:36 There seems to be green goo coming out of a canister 1:20 There seems to be an arm or something sticking out from the right and at 2:10 and at there seems to be a weird looking hand (might be gloved) touching something that looks jockiesh. Biomechanic, one of those helmets even farts, listen! Yeh, quite goofy but spooky the way they seem to 'chat' in those wierd voice soundbites. I like your idea of a human brain replacing a ship's computer, very bizarre. I have a thing about living disembodied heads being a symbol of true horror .

Space Jockey´s charging is to breed sth., Since it seems to be grown out of it´s chair it´s rather likely that it (they) grow(s) gray matter or some other sort of mysterios (and biohazardous) fluids which subsequently need to be filled up and boxed in anthracite cannisters/ urnes. it gives the impression as if a jockey is in fact a stupid assembley line worker. We can just hope it not turns out to be molten styrofoam. ; )

Hey Bio long time no chat bud. I would agree about the biological part but AI is prevalent through out the genre; ie the synthetics. There could be some precursor AI in the helmet letting mother know that the Nostromo has reached the beacon and a little communication exchange took place. I don't know though just an opinion. Rick

Hi Rick, I don't think biological or biomechanical brains and electronic synthetic AI have to be mutually exclusive. Maybe MUTHUR can be thought of as a highly advanced BIOS for the ship tasked mainly with explaining the ships needs to the crew, mission control and sensor input interpretations, a very analytical system with a rudimentary AI featuring the ability to speak fluently the low level machine language of the ship. The biological brain system may be there to interpret or command the bios from a much higher abstraction level (A different type of awareness). Perhaps two different technologies each with it's own advantages were interfaced together. Of course these brain computers would be considered a technological abomination of nature by humans so the use must be kept secret. You'll have to forgive me but I like the idea that Weylan Yuntani is run by androids, and that they think of humans as chattel and only useful as a tools. Fits in with Ash seemed to be condescending toward the crew.

Sup everybody, I noticed this thread, so I thought I'd join in. I'm a web designer who has a Bachelor of Art degree with a specialization in illustration. I also have experience in graphic design and print. I thought about going back to school for a graduate degree in art, but I realized what's the point? I've been an [i]Alien[/i] fan since I was about 8 years old. My dad showed me [i]Aliens[/i] first and then I watched [i]Alien[/i] and [i]Alien 3[/i] (which made me super depressed at the age of 9). I was one of those dork kids that analyzed everything about the movies and had fun doing it. I compiled detailed files. In that regard, I also have an investigative mind and enjoy doing research on very specific topics. Aside from that, I'm an avid runner and I run races (I'll be doing a 10K soon, several 5Ks, and a marathon in January).
