Monkey Feet,
I think the engagement of the idea, despite not always understanding, is what propels the series forward. You sorta have the general idea of how it all connects, but there are a few things you're off about. Luckily, people like Matt Frank and Monstrosities on Youtube will be doing videos and podcasts with those in the profession of theoretical physics and you can follow them for some excellent discussion coming up.

For me, the not understanding invites rewatch and research to explore the show, it's ideas and themes. There's a lot of meat to chew on with this show and I love the fact it beckons multiple watches to "get".

My Godzilla is A fuse of 2019 Monsterverse goji & 2004 goji with cool upgraded 2002 spikes. It has a spike on the end of its tail like Gorosaurus, has spikes on his elbows, & stands about 216.3 meters tall. The mouth is wide as singular point and splits like shin Godzilla, it has 7 different types of powers: Fire (just fire), cold (very cold it turns u into ice), 2019 atomic breathe, wind (so loud and windy), fast atomic breathe (similar to godzilla earth's atomic breathe & shin), lasers shoot on its spikes like shin & the #1 powerful, it takes 30 seconds to activate this power, 3 rings appear in front of its mouth like s.p. goji, dorsal spikes glow so bright as the sun, power so loud ppl can go deaf for 8 days, atomic breathe is fast as the speed of light, and so hot that buildings far away melt slowly.

Those are pretty good choices (especially gorgonopsid). I'm a little wary about small dinosaurs, like Sinosauropteryx, since the compys in the original game were pains (especially if they got sick)

*flashback of me spending 20 minutes trying to dart one*

Personally, I would love to see more "non-dinosaurs" to add more variety.

Both are “decent” at their very best. JW received a good review due to a niche that hadn’t been touched on much for a long spell of time. It could have been done IMMENSELY better and it’s main driving point was almost purely nostalgia with barely anything original… but the formula had worked out alright before I guess in other franchises. I did enjoy JW when it came out, but only when it wasn’t cringeworthy acting and when the movie wasn’t screaming “LOOK, LOOK! THEY DID THIS IN THE FIRST MOVIE, ISN’T IT STILL COOL?!” Call backs can be fun and fulfilling, but it shouldn’t take up most of the movie.

Camp Cretaceous is anyone’s game… too oriented towards a younger audience and it was a foolish idea to make the series canon. But whatever, because nobody asked for it. At least they’re getting money from Netflix. Either way, turning the series into a cartoon is more on par for what the previous movie plots are geared for, ESPECIALLY Fallen Kingdom.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumThe Engineers (Sub Creation)

I think that ONE of the things that RS was going for is to ASK US...

What Constitutes Creation?, a SOUL and Immortality.

So the Engineers have Created/Evolved Life that has became US... so you can Genetically Modify and Engineer Biology to Create a Intelligent Biological Life-Form.

But it was to SHOW us that WHY cant that be done with Artificial Creation, a None-Organic Creation and so with David its Basically to SHOW that he is MORE HUMAN than we think... YET he does-not have the Disadvantages of being Human.

But the Emphasis became TOO MUCH about HIM and i am sure Many Fans would have seen him as a SUPPORTING ROLE.

As for the Space Jockey i think its a MISTAKE to even go and make the Prequels eventually LEAD to  that EVENT... I think the Space Jockey should Eventually be revealed to be a Engineer or the Race who are ABOVE the Engineers.

But i SUSPECT that it would be a Creation of David, and would NOT go and RULE-OUT that we would have Concluded with this 10ft Being that David had Created would have DAVIDS SOUL that is Transferred to it some HOW!

Thats a Good Point as in a WAY then Cryogenic Sleep would be kind of a TIME-TRAVEL as in this is WHAT had happened to BUCK ROGERS ;)

I can ONLY just Imagine the Engineer went into Cryo-sleep to AVOID the OUTBREAK... but then the other Cyro-sleep Engineers were NOT so LUCKY.

Which makes me Suspect our LV-223 Engineer maybe had something to do with the OUTBREAK?

I think maybe those LV-223 kind have NO Family as i suspect the IDEA is that they are to those Planet 4 Engineers as Replicants are to Humans.

But Cryogenics is Interesting as we KNOW that Weyland-Yutani have Accomplished this and it DEPENDS on HOW LONG can these Sustain a Person for... we know Ripley remained in Stasis for 57 Years but could the Cyro-Pods as of 2090 do the same?  The Engineers Ones we know can Hibernate you for Thousands of Years.

I bring this UP because if you was Peter Weyland then i do think he MAYBE had Thought about putting himself UNDER ICE... until Science or some other WAY is FOUND to be able to GRANT him the Extra Life/Immortality he is after.

I also think that YES you have to keep the Movies as Canon, and NOT go any Remove any.  But the ALIEN V ideas by Blomkamp and Brandywine would REMOVE some Movies as Canon and they BOTH also bring back RIPLEY.

If they want to see RIPLEY again then i think a Continuation of ALIEN R is the way to go.

BigDaveAlien: Romulus 2 NewsRidley Scott considers Prometheus a mistake.

Well it seems that FOX had felt you had to make the Franchise about the Xenomorph, as Originally it seemed a Prometheus Sequel would have BRANCHED OFF as a Spin Off that would NOT be Connected to the Xenomorph or LV-426. However i think UNDER the Control of DISNEY then IF we get a Movie/TV Show i think the Xenomorph would become the Centerpiece again.  I would think they would see the Prequels as being a Disappointment and will UNLIKELY see any Continuation.

I will agree that RS does seem to Change his Mind a lot, but also the POWERS THAT BE also seem to Change their minds a lot too.  ULTIMATELY they are the Ones who say what goes.

I think that CHARACTERS are Important and we have NOT seen any really Stand Out, not REALLY like the First 3 Movies and so THIS is something that they NEED to get Right.

The Time-Line has become a Problem now.... prior to Alien Covenant and the U-TURN about the Xenomorph, then RS had it in his MIND that the Derelict/Eggs had been on LV-426 a Few Hundred Years after the Engineers had LOST CONTROL of LV-223 with the Outbreak.

Without any TIME-TRAVEL then we are 17 Years prior to ALIEN with LV-426 likely having NO EGGS or Derelict at Present (Year 2105)  So YES this was another Problem with the Mistake of making the Prequels become a Chronological Prequel to those EGGS eventually getting on LV-426.

Ok so I just finished the show earlier, and even though I highly enjoyed it and thought the show was great, I was very confused for most of the whole thing. Like SasquaDash said, theres so much technobable and super advance science talk through 90% of the show that makes no sense. I kinda get some of the basics of some plot points, there's the archetypes which have 13 states of being or whatever, and those archetypes are used to make a super computer that then uses the archetypes to make a something diagonalizer that is used to get rid of the red dust temporarily and they were trying to make a perfected diagonalizer that was stop the red dust for good so they can avoid the catastrophe. But that's about I understood, feel free to correct me if  got that wrong, like I said I was super confused but also enthralled cause it was so cool at the same time. So can anyone one help me understand that part of the show? Or let me know if there's another forum or a video on YouTube that explains that? Or are we even supposed to understand it? But besides the technobable part I thought everything else was great. The characters were awesome, the voice actors were great, (at least for the dub I'll have to rewatch in sub) I love Jonny Yong Bosch. I loved all the monster designs, I thought they were so creative and amazing, especially Anguirus he was beautiful. The music was really good, the animation was great. The final fight was really cool even if it didn't last long, seeing Jet get as big as Godzilla made me happy. So overall I'd give it an 8/10, the only thing stopping it from being a 10 was the technobable that had me confused the whole show.

Of the two i always preferred Gigan considering that he looks so cool for a hook-handed alien chicken with a buzzsaw stomach. That said i don't mind Megalon considering that though he's not as iconic or cool-looking as Gigan despite that he's not bad-looking for a giant drill-handed beetle who lives underground and is controlled by underground people who want to take over earth. Add to the fact that both monsters appeared in Godzilla vs. Megalon (which happens to be the first Godzilla movie i ever saw) makes them two of my favorite Godzilla monsters.

… What? I’m criticizing the direction a good franchise has taken due to careless production and plots that run almost purely from the nostalgia and successes of previous films and implementing characters that are so bland or annoying that you can’t help but become fixated on how they made it into production… I’m not being a jerk, I’m again, offering criticism, you just have a problem with how it differs from your own opinion. The way I see it, the only way to enjoy a movie like Fallen Kingdom is if you actively try to find reasons to like it, there’s really nothing at face value to have much enjoyment from it.

To prove a point, TRYING to make a good movie and please fans shouldn't result in a 47% critic score and 48% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes…

Making a sore attempt at adding a little scientific accuracy while ignoring the fact Giganotsaurus didn’t live in North America and neither did Oviraptor, Dreanoughtus and Iguanadon is indicative of carelessness in writing. If they wanted to set up a fight between the two, it could have been done differently. Tell me again how great of a movie Fallen Kingdom was, I’ll wait. There’s absolutely nothing good that came from it and an embarrassment for the franchise with the cartoony villains, stale protagonist characters and non-gripping plot.

They had all the opportunities to build from the first JW and blew it, why was production given to a guy whose only credit is a poorly known Indy film called “Safety Not Guaranteed”? Who was in charge of that executive decision? The man was in line to make a new Star Wars movie and was quickly axed after Fallen Kingdom was released. Wanna make a wild guess as to why? Remember the masterful plot for that movie “Monster Trucks”? I hope you don’t remember the movie itself, but Derek Connelly was at the forefront.

All I’ve got to say is that if I were given a 200 million dollar grant to make a JP movie, I’d blow anything Trevorrow and Connelly ever made out of the water. They’ve capitalized on the franchise and it’s immensely apparent.

My Godzilla would have sauropod feet and the ability to unhinge and grow his mouth to 3 times it’s normal size. It would resemble Shin but with much bigger and bulkier arms with opposable thumbs. The large tail would have retractable spikes lining it. His back would be a bit more hunched forward than normal shin. He would fire a dense beam that could disintegrate anything in its path. He would have large retractable teeth that resembles the queen Tao Tei from The Great Wall. Basically preventing his mouth to fully close when fully extended. He would have an unnatural amount of bite force and would weigh 190,000 tons being 200 meters tall. He would have an extremely thick hide with incredible regeneration properties. He would have above human intelligence and could analyze whatever language anything around him could be speaking and replicate that roughly. He is very understanding of humans but will not stand as they pollute his planet more and more.

Trevorrow and the crew HAVE been trying to give the JP/JW what they've been asking for. Fans have asked for feathered dinosaurs, he gave it to them, fans have wanted to see Giganotosaurus as a rival for T. rex, he gave it to them, Fans wanted the original cast to return, he brought them back. Hell, they even altered Rexy's design to look more like how she did in Jurassic Park, which wasn't necessary, but because fans wanted it, they gave it to them. To me it seems like the crew IS trying hard to please fans as well as general audiences. It may not be exactly what you want, but to state that they don't care about the series is not only wrong, but is pretty demeaning to all the  work that they're putting into the series.

The Xeno has been done over and over, that's one of the things that was good about Prometheus which is that it expanded the universe. Unfortunately Alien Covenant made the wrong thing by making it smaller. You mention it being centered around Xenos, that's one of the problems but there are other things where they went wrong.

About contradictions in the franchise, that's why you need people to look at that so it doesn't. Scott can remove AR if he wants but don't mess with 2 and 3. Aliens and Alien 3 are way better than the prequels because they have characters that you can cane about that or the most part are better written.

You mention the time-line, I would rather have the derelict being older. When you make it a recent thing you remove the mystery but it should be better than that. Something that happened two or three years ago or something that has been there for hundreds or thousands of years, I know what I find to be the most interesting.

"But this would Conflict ALIEN!"

Make it a spin-off? Don't ruin Alien with that, he has already done enough damage. Don't remove Aliens from Canon, that movie is a lot better than the prequels. Don't let Scott's ego put more blemishes on the franchise than it already has caused.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant ForumThe Engineers (Sub Creation)

BD

"It seems that THIS was the Main Force behind the Prequels..."

If that's the case I would say that they went wrong from the beginning. They should have made it re-written to tone down David's role because at least I'm not interested in it. Human history and the Engineers yes, David no. Let it be in a spin-off movie about androids in the alien-franchise but not in the major ones. A sort of Rogue One in the Alien-universe about androids could be OK if it's done in an interesting way but not in the major movies.

"And so when i mention ALPHA-RACE i mainly think that you could go and EXPLORE another Race who are ABOVE the Engineers, they could be LESS-HUMAN or even Totally NOT Humanoid."

That seems interesting, I would support that. Get some decent writers and a director that doesn't interfere with the story. They could look around for inspiration and try to use that to expand the franchise into involving other things. Androids could be a part of the story but not be the story. It would be interesting to see what kind of rituals they have, architecture, medicine, and so on. These are things that I hoped to see in Alien Covenant but they messed it up.

"I suspect that David would Create a more Perfect Human Species from those Human Embryos and he would Charade to them that he is their GOD and Creator... UNTIL other Humans Turn up and his Creations then DISCOVER their TRUE ORIGINS and Davids... and well thats when Creating those beings becomes a DOWNFALL for David."

Whatever, I don't care about that even though I'm fine with the fact that some people enjoy such a thing. That sounds like Raised By Wolves, something that I'm not very interested in since it seems that the characters are lame plus the over-reliance on androids. You mention themes, they are interesting but the story isn't. A story got to work for me otherwise the themes don't matter that much.

An Engineer as the SJ seems to make more sense but it shouldn't have anything to do with David. Right now it's all about a mad robot, which quite frankly is crap. Some people might find the android-tale to be interesting and that's their right to do so but I don't like it.

"I do THINK that the Franchise could Explore other Races that Created the Engineers or that the Engineers had Created and by doing so either in SETTING a STORY that is FAR FAR AWAY or a VERY LONG TIME AGO... or Both"

That would be awesome, hopefully they get some decent writers that can write and that know that the franchise needs to expand beyond Xenos and David.

That looks like a mutated dog, it looks a bit strange compared to what we've seen this far. Maybe it can work, I'm not sure. Prometheus introduced the black goo so it can be used in different ways. Hopefully we'll see more of the Engineers in various alien-things even though they shouldn't be over-used or else it will be like the Xeno that we've seen a lot of times before.

Yeah but then if they will be impregnated (like a face-hugger to Xeno) then they must be very strong to take down an Engineer. What if the Engineers developed super-monsters that become stronger than they expected? I try to find out a way that is logical to make that happen.

Remember the bogus poster to Alien Covenant even though it was awesome? It was bogus because it hinted at a story that we weren't given. Something like that could be used to make something interesting in the franchise.

I might as well answer this,

My Godzilla would have the tree like texture of GOdzilla Earth and roughly would look like a blend of Singular point, Some shin like elements, and using 1954 as a base. It would have the scratches of Shin but they glow blue and its atomic Breath sequence would start to flash like 54'(and other gojis I realize) and get the rings of SP rings like SP.

MY Godzilla would roughly be like Godzilla earth but having been awoken when humanity killed the other Godzilla's and kaiju.

It would have the same power and size of Godzilla earth as well has being able to destroy and distort reality like Godzilla Ultima. It would be intelligent and aware like GMK goji though.

SasquaDash,
We've been through this multiple times. As tiring as you may find my distaste for the Monsterverse, I find your interpretation of my words equally exhausting. No. I don't like the Monsterverse, particularly the latter two, and I find some of the people behind them missing the point. Criticism can sometimes seem insulting, but it's also in how you take it.

That said, even the quotes you mention are about as harmless as it gets. I am very happy we're getting something completely different from the Monsterverse. Why would I not, since I clearly don't care for the former? And, "look at how much better that Singular Point did, King of the Monsters didn't do that well so Singular point is superior," is your interpretation of the comment and yours alone. The example with King of the Monsters was to give an example of how a niche fan base alone can not hit successful numbers unless it's reaching wider audiences. Given that this example was in the same franchise, and relevant as of recent, it was the best comparison. Obviously, more than the fan base showed up for GvK whether one likes it or not.

I said this the last time you derailed an entire topic engaging me over this and I'm going to say it again, if you feel the need to discuss my criticisms of the Monsterverse or make it personal, my PMs are open. Feel free to engage. Otherwise, please stop filling up threads with the same, tired complaint over and over. It has ruined topics before, let's not do it here.

The show is dense with its hard science, there's no arguing it. I've never enjoyed math or science, but in terms of films that like to use it, I've always been fascinated and it really encourages revisiting these stories. Doesn't hurt that I have some old friends that majored in this material and I was in shock at how much they told me was accurate.

I will say the English dub has made it easier to catch on in some ways and harder in others--But that comes from a deep place of cultural prejudice many of us have.

As someone who doesn't study physics and has a hard time with certain subjects (like various types of math), the show was a bit too overwhelming, The monster stuff was cool and I enjoyed some of it, but the fact that most of the show was made up of physics lectures made the plot difficult to follow and really dragged the show down for me.

That wasnt much of a problem for me with this show. It felt very easy to understand for me and the physics did seem oversimplified.

It feels more like real science fiction to me actually incorperating the real world and using theoretical science to justify the fantastical elements. Not like star wars, which is more fantasy but seems to get classified science fiction because its in space.
