Maybe the Engineers are under attack from many of the their creations?

Or maybe it's not about destroying their newborn children...But testing them? Can you defend yourselves ( against a single juggernaut )? Parenting on a large scale!

I think that while the PLOT in Parts had Changed there seemed to be a CORE BACKGROUND that the Reasons the Engineers had gone through the Sacrificial Scene and Seeding of Worlds seems to be of some BENEFIT to their kind and IT as well as their Interactions with their Creations seemed to come from a Benevolent Place.

I think we can be assured there are a NUMBER of Layers of Creation

So its always Interesting to Wonder what Ridley Scott had implied by NOT wanting to MEET GOD in the First Movie, and this goes in HAND with Dr Shaw wanting to KNOW as to WHO had Created them.  The Elders being the Hierarchy at the TIME the Movie was Shot...   Their Removal was in Part as RS felt the Scene gave away too much, it also seemed they was NOT really Pleased on HOW they came across.

They looked like more OLD FRAIL versions of our other Prometheus Engineers and so they NEVER really had that Godlike look, so we could Speculate if RS had Plans to Change or Replace them with something more AWE inspiring.  But in REALITY we saw them Replaced with something that was LESS SUPERIOR than the Sacrificial/LV-223 Engineers.   But i guess you could look at it as Mankind are the Creators of the more Superior Replicants and Synthetics, so i am Drawn to that being the Conclusion.

I think its Interesting to look at WHY would you Create Something and there are Many Reasons for this, it does not have to be JUST BECAUSE.  Various Mythos and Religions and Cultures can give us Numerous Reasons for why the GODS/GOD would Create us.  We had David say to Holloway how would HE feel if his Creators said the same to him (we Created you because we could).  And i dont think we would have been SHOWN that it was a Case of the Engineers being BORED and just going to TEST and SHOW OFF that they can Create.

With Weyland we could see that the Creation of David was the Pinnacle of his Genius and to HIGHLIGHT to HOW GREAT a Scientist that Weyland was.  We do see Weyland say that David is the Closest thing to a Son and so there was some kind of NEED for Companionship but more so David was a Servant of his Father.

We also can look Beyond those and then Look at the Practical Reasons for Creating a David or a Replicant and these would be to PERFORM TASKS that these Creating Beings could do more EFFICIENT, Tasks that could also be Difficult or Dangerous for Humans and so thats another GOOD Reason to Sub-Create.  I also Guess that Frustration that you CANT Create could be a Good Reason to WANT to Create Also.

So it can be Quite Open for the Reasons for Creation... i think with Prometheus and Dr Shaw then this is ONE of the Main Questions she would want Answered.  This is something that could have Answered in a Number of Ways or the Engineers could REFUSE to even give her any Reason.  WHY if they had it where Paradise was FAR FAR away then the Engineers she would MEET could have NO IDEA that Mankind was even Created!

This is in PART why they had a Tricky Plot to Continue.... if they are OFF to the Engineers World where there are Numerous Inhabitants and they are Technologically Advanced and they HATE HUMANS then the OUTLOOK for Dr Shaw arriving to then GET ANSWERS could be something that does-not go down as well and ENDS up being as QUICK a Meeting as Peter Weylands meeting with his Maker and his DEMANDS.

But they JUST needed a Writer who could THINK outside the BOX or take into Account the WHOLE PLOT.... it seemed that the Engineers had NOT wanted to have us Destroyed from the GET GO... the Creation of Mankind and Thousands of Years they Visited us seems to IMPLY some Considerable Effort and Time.

Ridley Scott has indicated that the Engineers had Decided to Destroy us because we had OFFENDED them, we had NOT turned out in the WAY they wanted in regards to HOW we was Expected to BEHAVE, he also said the Engineers saw us as a Threat.

But you can liken that to David, you can see with Alien Covenant that his Behavior is NOT what you would want your Servant Robots to be behaving like, he has become a THREAT and Danger.  If others of his KIND had Started to Behave in the same WAY then Humanity would have to Conclude we have to DESTROY these A.I before we get a TERMINATOR on our Hands.

When we look at Mankind and the WHOLE Process of our Creation would the Engineers had been so Niave to PUT ALL THEIR EGGS IN ONE BASKET?

If the Engineers had Seeded/Taken other Humans to other WORLDS then for Earth its ONLY because we Started to Disobey them, become more Sentient, as RS said they sent down a Emissary to TRY and Change our Ways and its the way we Reacted to that which was the FINAL STRAW.

NOW.... if they had other Worlds with Humans who are Behaving in ways that Please the Engineers, then THIS is a Good Reason for WHY they was to go to such Extreme Lengths on Earth.... they have other Worlds with Humanoid Creations and so the LOSS of ONE is not a Big Issue...  After the FAILURE of the Mission, its LIKELY they had Abandoned the Earth.....  they saw our PATH as ONE where would eventually DESTROY ourselves and i think in their Naivety they thought without the Engineers then Mankind would NEVER Advance and more likely we would go backwards to Barbaric Cave Men!

If they went for something like THIS then Dr Shaw could have arrived at a World thats FAR FAR FAR away, and maybe could have been looked at with Intrigue by the Engineers and they may even Determine she is a GOOD SOUL and she could be Welcomed to Paradise...

But the Engineers would KNOW that Mankind on Earth has Advanced to be able to TRAVEL the Stars, and Reach the Engineers Anthrax Island if you would and USE their Technology (via David) and so while they may SPARE our Dr Shaw, they would LIKELY want to GO and DESTROY the Earth.

The Question then would be HOW would Dr Shaw feel about this, Especially if she found out the Engineers had MANY Worlds with Humans and Humanoids on, but NOW they are going to DESTROY the Earth and Pondering whether they should DO the SAME with the other WORLDS.

I would ASSUME that Dr Shaw would WANT to Prevent them.... so YES they had NOT Written themselves into a Corner, it just Needed some Thought.... but with FOX seeing the reaction to Alien V they thought the Fans wanted to CHANGE the Story to be about the MONSTER and its Origins and so the Potential of a Prometheus 2 was LOST.

Cinema Today Japan reports the film had an attendance of 390,000 over the three day weekend. (293,000 for Saturday and Sunday). Kogyotsushin confirms it was #1 for the weekend having opened in 364 screens--roughly 70 less than the last three live action Godzilla movies, but over 200 more than the anime films. (Eiga)

UPDATE 07/04/2021:
Godzilla vs. Kong will be the largest Hollywood opening in Japan this year with a two day opening weekend estimate of $4.3 million ($5.6 million estimated three day opening). It's possible that number could exceed $6 million when the actuals drop.

The opening stomps every Hollywood movie released in Japan this year and surpasses the final gross of Wonder Woman 1984, which finished with $5.1 million USD and only 370,000 in attendance. Tom & Jerry is currently the highest grossing 2021 Hollywood film in Japan with $7.3 million. Attendance numbers for Godzilla vs. Kong are not yet in.

Unfortunately it misses all 3 of the former live action Godzilla movies, only beating the anime films which were opened in 2/3 less theaters. This is largely due to covid theater restrictions and rising numbers in Tokyo.

I always find it fascinating when deep fans say they do not know what was going on in Prometheus. 

1) Humanoid Life is created by the sacrifice of a being who imbibes the Genesis Cup, disintegrates, the essence attacks basic DNA strands and turns it into something more sophisticated. This is the perfect back drop to A L I E N where intervention of a different kind leads to a monster. Its about intervened creation.cf Dave the Robot.

2) Millions of years later Weyland in search of more life and Elizabeth in search of God set off to the source of humanity and find their creators do not like them, were engaged in making monsters and would have replaced them with an upgrade if it had not all "gone to pot." Charlie tells the audience the earth is just a Pietrie Dish and Elizabeth asks if these guys made us who made them.

3) At the end of the movie Elizabeth sets of to the Engineers Home world 'or where they came from' a world which had ignored both the facility and the derelict. So obviously head office was no longer interested in pursuing their Promethean renegades.

What would she find? Based on Ridleys remarks in the documentary:-

1) Mankind was a footnote and of no consequence except of course by turning up it would be.

2) The creature was a grace note. 

Elizabeth would have discovered that their is no abrahamic God and David would have found it is not entirely 'because you can.' 

What we never got to discover is why the guys on LV223 and the guy in the derelict were just left to rot. Logic would dictate given the name of the movie and that Ridley said the movie was about stolen technology (The Genesis Cup) that they had been naughty and rebelled against the master plan so exquisitely shown in the first few minutes.

Can you make a movie out of that for fans of the creature. NO which maybe is why Damon left and there was the slow move toward Covenant which pleased no one.

Your comment about Elizabeth gets to the central point. 

Essentially Prometheus provided us with two answers to a mystery and then created another.

We found out that the creature in the chair was a humanoid and the race he belonged to lived on anthrax island and made monsters and they all perished for their trouble. 

So the next part was simple who made them and where did they come from. 

Ridley thought if he destroyed those on their home planet and made David the creator of the creature which he believed people wanted back was a better outcome than to send Elizabeth on her quest for the adamic question "why why did you hate us and why did you make us."

If you base your analysis on core fandom its pretty clear that the number of creature fans who want their world inhabited by philosophical journeys is small. Equally in my cohort we recognise A L I E N as a superior slasher movie which Ridley tried (and failed) to take into a much broader canvas.

On this I would defend Damon Lindelof because he recognised the risk and said as much before Prometheus was released. 

Why half a dozen people continue to discuss this on a forum is because Ridley is great at adverts he teases and he does it very very well. He leaves you room to speculate and discuss as does Lindelof and in the case of Prometheus because there will never be an artistically legitimate follow up (Covenant is a denial of those questions) the void is big. 

So to return to your point Elizabeth did begin that journey you describe she just never reached anywhere and certainly good story telling would not have been about her landing on a plaza in down town Paradise and marching up to someone and saying why did you make me and anyway Charlie had already given her the answer?

Yeah, I don't think Disney will touch the Engineers. How are you going to cast them? What Actors are going to want to play tall muscular bald albinos? 

I'd rather Elizabeth travel around the galaxy unable to find another living Engineer. Finding nothing but statues and corpses and trying to find out just WHAT killed them.

Set on Earth? Uggh. 

So this is a reset / reboot?

If the xeno / Engineers are on Earth all this time! ..then I find it hard to believe Weyland corp didn't find out, or the military or a million other orgs.

This is sounding like a Predator series. Xenos in suburbia.

Box office commentator Luiz Fernando claims Godzilla vs. Kong had a $2.3 million Saturday. Up from Friday, but lower than King of the Monsters' Saturday in 2019. ($3.4 million USD). Current estimate total is $3.6 million+. Official estimates tomorrow and actuals on Tuesday.

I think this is LIKELY to be Hinted at... well we will have a SHIP/COMPLEX that has the Engineer Aesthetic.

This appears to have Water inside....

so i am going to ASSUME that some kind of Underwater Discovery is made, maybe while looking for Resources, or in Search of a Wreckage (maybe Recent Earth one) they Discover something thats Buried under the Sea Floor.

And so it will LIKELY show that the Engineers (or Retconned Space Jockey) had actually SENT a Ship to Earth in the Ancient Past but this SHIP had ENDED up sunken in the Sea.

Maybe we could see the Revelation of a Sunken Atlantis that was either a Engineer City or other Humanoids that the Engineers had wanted to DESTROY so they can Populate the Earth with Humans?

The Writers must KNOW that the Xenomorph has been DONE TO DEATH and so Company Finds a Ship with Eggs and tries to Obtain the Xenomorph has been DONE to Death really... so they would maybe NEED to Expand and UPLIFT the Plot.

Humans are a Dangerous Species both from HOW we can Treat Each other, our Greed for Wealth and Resources without regards for others...  But A.I would also be a BIG threat.

Xenomorphs are Deadly... they are a Invasive Organism who Strive to Survive like a Ant Colony, but in Order to Survive well they NEED their Hosts.

So do they UPLIFT the Xenomorphs beyond Camerons Hive?

I suspect the TV Series is SET before Prometheus, and so it would go to Discredit the David as the Creator Plot, maybe even give us a REBOOTED History of Weyland Yutani and the Space Jockey/Engineers?

Maybe they will CHANGE the Role/Reasons for WHY the Space Jockey Race have the Eggs/Xenomorph?  I do think they MAY KEEP the Engineers/Creators Plot.

But give us some Dark and Sinister Reason for our Creation.

I agree, i think IF we explored the Arcturians they would be better to be shown as either a Race who Evolved on their own, or something the Engineers had played a ROLE in.

We cant RULE-OUT that they are just a Colony of Humans, maybe Humans who wish to become NONE-BINARY or BOTH SEXES (Transsexual) and they MOVE to another Colony in the Arcturus System so they do-not have to feel they are Outcasts on Earth.

But i would rather have them as a ALIEN SPECIES... but i dont think we have to have them too CLOSE to Humans, we know they must be Sexually Attractive but that does NOT mean you have to Feminize them to the Point they have Breasts for Example... the same is some Fan Art etc about Female Predators... do ALIEN Species NEED to have Breasts to separate whats Female/Male?

These ONLY make sense if the Species Breast Feed their Young.

so i would LIKE to see them as Humanoid but also Partially Reptilian and Amphibian but with a Feminine Beauty to them... but NOT with Breasts lol.

HOW.... do we explore more about the Engineers, what they Create etc but STEER AWAY from David?

Simple.... Answer these Questions

*Are the Engineers ONLY found on LV-223 and Planet 4?

The Answer would seem NO!

*Are Humans on Earth the ONLY Species they have Created/Evolved?

The Answer would seem UNLIKELY!

*How many WORLDS have the Engineers Seeded?

By Virtue of them being shown to have Knowledge of other Galaxies in their Navigation Systems and being around for Millions of Years, then the NUMBER or Worlds they had been Involved in and Species they have Interacted with and Created/Evolves could be VAST!

So you can have a SPIN OFF series of Movies or TV Show, were we are in a FAR PART of the Galaxy (like Caprica from BSG Series) or a Galaxy FAR FAR Away like we had with Star Wars.

Both Franchises had Humans who are NOT from Earth, and both we see they SPEAK ENGLISH (which is UNLIKELY but its for our Convenience) and so WHY cant they go and DO the same with a Engineers Spin Off?

You NEED to have Good Characters and People can Connect more with HUMAN Characters... but in Context to the Engineers Plot then WHY is the Earth the ONLY place the Engineers had watched over Humans?

If say Humans had been Created/Evolved on another WORLD and taken to Earth, then the Chances are the Engineers had taken Humans to other WORLDS which gives more Plausibility to them WILLING to Destroy the Earth and Mankind on our Planet when we have NOT been doing as they Please.

It would be NO LOSS if they had other Worlds with Humans who have been KEPT in Check!

What would have HAPPENED if say Dr Shaw arrived at ONE of these Worlds?  And THIS is what i had in Mind for my Prometheus 3.

But i dont think DISNEY will ever do such a thing... i think for them it is about the MONSTER the ALIEN and i Suspect they will be going to IGNORE the Prequels as though they NEVER existed.  I think we will see the Engineers but i think they will CHANGE the Plot and Appearance of them.

I think what RS was getting us to look at is that a Sentient Synthetic Life-form who can Think and have Emotions and Desires/Ambition like a Human would they be DIFFERENT to us?   And to show that IF the Spirit is our Personality, Desires, Dreams and Emotions that would EXIST after Death and Beyond the BODY then maybe NO we have NO SOUL but Actually YES then David does have such a SOUL.

But i think for a LOT of the Fans they wanted to Explore more about the Engineers and WHAT ELSE they Create and HOW had Created them etc... to see other WORLDS and other Species etc.

I also agree that the Space Jockey should have been and should be a Race that is Connected to the Engineers and maybe even a Race above them, but then a Race they Created could also work.  Having sewn the SEEDS that the Xenomorph/Eggs are a Creation/Consequence of David is ONE thing..... to make the Space Jockey likewise would be ANOTHER MISTAKE.

I think the Engineers in Prometheus as a Clone/Genetically Engineered Sub-Creation of the Planet 4 Engineers does FIT with the Themes/Plot.

The Broad Plot is to SHOW that all the Mythos and Religions on Earth that Depicted our Creators were WE are Created in their Image is the RESULT of us Actually indeed being CREATED from THEM (Engineers) so i think it FITS that they look Very Human, they look LESS Human than Numerous Depictions of Gods/Creators in Various Religions/Mythos.

Ridley Scott was trying to SHOW us that WHILE the LV-223 Engineers may look similar to each other, the Planet 4 Engineers have some Diversity in their Appearance.  He had gone on to say that the Engineers are NOT a Race but a Civilization, and so its LIKELY they have Mixed in Races DNA that they have Created.  He also said that just as Humans can come in Many Sizes and Races then WHY CANT the same be said for the Engineers.  So YES it seems they have been made to be more HUMAN.

But this seems to be the Intended Purpose to FIT with the PLOT that is about Knowledge and Technology in Part, its to SHOW us these Engineers are NOT really Gods, they are Merely Humanoids who have the BENEFIT of being around for MANY MANY MANY Years more than us and so their Knowledge and Technology is WHAT makes them more Godlike, i guess if we had Humans from 100 Years Time go back in TIME to see the Neanderthals then we would seem as GODS to them when all we have is in Part a Genetic Advantage but more so Technology and Knowledge.

The Engineers Background has Changed as from Inception it seemed they was a Race like Humans who had Advanced on a Technological Scale and Genetic Evolution (via Genetic Manipulation) that they INCREASED for HOW LONG they can LIVE for, and they Abandoned things like Arts, Music, Entertainment, Sexual Urges and Procreation....  But eventually they became STERILE.  With Prometheus then it seems our Engineers were similar to the Concept.  But it seems that THEY have decided to make our Engineers more Human, which goes to then HIGHLIGHT that its about Knowledge and Technology that makes a Race become more Advanced/Godlike.

Our Engineers were supposed to be more Statue like, having a Glossy look to their Skin, they was also supposed to be 10-12ft Tall, but when we got to Production they Decided to GO AGAINST the USE of Special Effects to Create a 10ft Race and so we got a Downsized Race of 7-8ft Engineers.

The Prometheus Opening Scene in FULL showed the Engineer also wore those Garments, YET they Possessed Advanced Technology when Needed (Tear Drop Ship) and those on Planet 4 also had Technology/Ships too.  It seems they Ritualistically/Culturally do SHUN such Technology apart from where it is Necessary and so they are like say the AMISH people in the USA.  They do-not USE their Technology for everything, they seem to not have the Entertainment/Vices of Modern Man but they CHOOSE to LIVE a more Simplistic Ancient Way.

The Main Difference is the appearance, there is LESS of the Defined Bone-structure and Node Ridge and less Glossy/Synthetic looking Skin.

When you look at the Prometheus Engineers Skin etc, they do look like they are NOT made from the same Skin as us, so they have that SYNTHETIC look about them.... so maybe this has Changed from this being because they are GODLIKE to actually NOW being a Sub-Created Species much like David and Replicants are.

From Scott Mendleson of Forbes, Godzilla vs. Kong opened to $1.35M on Friday, eyeing a $5-6 million three day weekend. This is well below Shin Godzilla and King of the Monsters, but ahead of Godzilla '14 and the anime films. Heavy rain and covid restrictions have apparently played a part against the box office, according to franchise historian and filmmaker Norman England. Early weekend numbers should be in by Sunday. Actuals on Tuesday.

If it's done well then sure. That could be an interesting way to expand the franchise, something that's needed. Do you mean that they would be a mix of humans and reptiles? You can draw inspirations from many things, like they did when they created the Xeno.

Let's say that you make a TV-show based on them and from there you can add different things and go from there. Who knows what we could end up with but it could be interesting.

That seems like an Aliens 2, it's boring. Even though the prequels were failures at least they tried something new with the characters and the monsters (Engineers and what not).

The second one from the top and down looks ridiculous, it's like he's running towards the other one because he wants a hug. Ripley and Hicks are dead, that's it.

Those things are interesting but they could be difficult to handle in the alien-franchise. I don't say that these are impossible questions to handle in the franchise but it could be tricky to do them justice. Maybe it ca be done but I don't think that making it about an android is the way to go.

Yeah, you can hint at it but don't explain it. Many people have had that image in their heads for a long time about what could have happened so no matter what you put in there to explain it, it will probably not improve in quality what people have imagined it to be. It can be done but it must be of a very good quality both visually and the writing so it's almost impossible. Those things that you mention make sense judging from what we have seen this far.

If Scott would have been allowed to interfere with the writing but you could also demand from him that he stays away from it. Disney could tell him to stay away from the story and handle the visuals, that would probably be for the better because it didn't work under Fox. Let David have a minor role in the third prequel to in a way make up for Prometheus and Covenant.

Either sacrifice themselves or improve themselves could work. I’m still interested in how they got from those on Planet 4 (Covenant) to those in Prometheus. What explains the differences? Those things could be hinted at in a movie but I doubt that we'll see that. Remember the tank that Luke was in after he got beat up by the Wampa? Maybe the engineers used something like that to create the bigger ones like a liquid steroid-bath. Perhaps this could make sense if those were made to secure the Engineer civilization and they took great pride in it so it wasn't made by force. There are many possibilities to choose from if they would try to explain that but I doubt that they will do so.

That's interesting, but you got to explain it in a way that's interesting and makes sense.

Yeah but it still wasn’t that good plus I wanted to see more of the Engineers in the movie. They could at least have shown the Engineers a bit longer instead of having it all about David even though it would just have been for some scenes.

Which is fine but I just wish that those in Alien Covenant would have looked more Alien. They looked too much like human beings even though you try to tie them to human history. I’m not sure how you could have made it better, maybe by make them look bigger and in some way give them enough differences compared to the one in Prometheus while still make them look more Alien instead of peasants from the 15th century.

Cloning or something similar to ensure the survival of the species? They know that they are about to end so they clone themselves as younger versions so they still have time to live and when the clones are about to die they make new clones so there will still be Engineers around. Some people might find this to be a lame explanation but if they can make it the natural way and still want to exist then they must come up with something else.

LV-223 seems to have been a huge Engineer lab. If you listen to what Janek says then this could have been a possibility. Maybe it was used for other things than what we saw in Prometheus? The role of the planet could be expanded on and also add to the story about the Engineers. Go back to the Engineers and expand the franchise

Good, they should have ended the Ripley-story with Alien 3. Hopefully they will have some new things in it that ain't references to things that have been. New life-forms, and new cultures would be interesting to see. Maybe there will be monsters that are not tied to the Xenomorph at all? This is an opportunity to introduce something new. Please don't rehash things

About having it out in the open, they did that in AVPR but there could maybe be a way to make it work. I'm not sure how they can make it but maybe if they have some good writing then it's a possibility.

Visuals effects, alright but you got to have a story and characters otherwise we'll end up like with the prequels, good visual effects but characters that are disappointments and stories that don't hold up. Not to say that all characters and everything about the stories in the prequels were bad but they could have been so much better.

Hopefully they will have the Engineers involved in some way even though they might not play a huge part. They weren't in Alien Covenant a lot but heavily involved in Prometheus. Maybe they could be in it more than in Covenant but less than in Prometheus? Could the Engineers be involved behind the scenes so to speak? Hopefully this will be an improvement from what we have seen since AR.

I have to say, this was an aggravating read. You don't need to give us the history of Godzilla's origin, other games featuring Godzilla or other famous IP characters, and the nature of mobile games and the levels of success they've seen. This article should be focused on the three new Godzilla games, but you focused so much on the rest that it was literally a "blink and you'll miss it" sort of situation. You basically wrote a lot without really saying much of anything.

It will be Interesting to see what they Mean by our Parasitic Past the Prometheus Plot had (and what Spaights and Ridley Scott indicated) that the Horrors on LV-223 were Created as a Weapon to Deal with Mankind.

So it would be Interesting to see if THIS has been Changed.

There are some CLUES from the Earlier Information etc on this PROJECT we know that its SET ON EARTH.  We know it will Introduce us to Various Aspects of Humanity in Regards to Corporate Greed...  Before they will LIKELY make a Discovery of which would be OPENING UP PANDORA'S BOX.

We had Images of a Xenomorph Embyo, but it also seems that Mankind Discovers either a Engineer Ship or Complex that has Water Inside, and so to me i THINK that someone will COME ACROSS some Sunken Complex/Ship of the Engineers and this is WHERE the **** Hits the Fan.

I think maybe the PLOT could Work, but i am NOT sure its  WISE IDEA to have it SET on Earth and Canon, and Especially if the TIME-LINE is prior to ALIENS

The CONCERN that i have is that they said it would be SET in the NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE..... This Indicates to me that it will be SET before ALIEN and the Prequels.  It comes down to WHAT is the NOT too Distant?

The Year is 2222 some 100 Years after the Fateful Discovery of the Harbinger of Doom Ship, Mankind has Discovered the Pandoras Box Once again. Only this Discovery is more Closer to Home!

We are nearly 100 Years Away from ALIEN and to me the Not Too Distant Future seems to indicate more likely 25-50 Years and so a TIME-LINE of 2147-2172 and Especially set on EARTH is a MISTAKE and will Conflict/Contradict the WHOLE FRANCHISE.

I think a lot does depend on what is the GIFT with in Context to Prometheus Mythos the Gift was the Fire of the Gods, as Weyland had put it "Our First Piece of Technology" as without the Discovery of HOW to came Fire then who knows where Mankind would be NOW, our Mastery of his with HOW we could PASS ON KNOWLEDGE is what likely allowed us to Survive while (our Superior Intellect and Ability to Pass On and Retain Knowledge gave us the Advantage to Create more Diverse Tools and make use of Resources)  But INDEED it was FIRE that was a BIG PART especially with the Climate Changing to COLD.

And so Technology/Tools and Knowledge are Important in Context, and it with a Number of the Prometheus Mythos then it was HE who had Taught us Many Things, and maybe TOO MUCH.  But the CORE Part of the Story was the THEFT of FIRE from the Gods.

So maybe we have to look at what is the FIRE/GIFT in Context to the Franchise and it seems the Creation Tool (Goo) is that FIRE.   But if we look at it like that then this GIFT was never really STOLEN and given to Humans.

So the ONLY way maybe it can Relate is that Mankind was Created by this STOLEN GIFT when our Creators were NOT permitted to do so?  But this could also apply to a Fraction of Engineers using the GIFT to EVOLVE themselves.

Or maybe Create something that was Forbidden by their Creators, the Experiments on LV-223 being a WAY to use the GIFT that was NEVER its intended Purpose.

The FRESCO to me reminds me of the Punishment of Prometheus. But as with many things in Prometheus they are OPEN to Interpretation.

Spaights and Ridley Scott had indicated that the Horrors they were Creating were Created in Response to the Problem, Behavior and Threat of MANKIND and so if we had NOT gone and Displeased or Concerned them then maybe these Horrors would NEVER had Happened?

There is a LOT of Ambiguity with Prometheus, i think we could have HOPED for some Answers in a Sequel but we NEVER really got much more of a Explanation.

I am Drawn to looking at David and the LV-223 Engineers being SIMILAR and so maybe those Engineers had been PLAYING WITH THE FIRE and Creating Horrors, more or less the SAME as what David was doing by Trying to Create something Perfect through the Potential that the Organism/DNA that the Deacon had.  Rather than just attempting to USE the Human/Engineer DNA.

The Humans/Engineers needing to be HOST to these Horrors.... if the LV-223 Engineers could NOT go and Procreate like the Planet 4 Engineers and see themselves as Superior to the Planet 4 Engineers, then their Interest in the Horrors we saw on LV-223/Black Goo could be a way for them to TRY and allow themselves to GIVE BIRTH and Procreate something they DEEM as the Next Stage of Evolution.

I think with regards to Promethean Tale its about PLAYING GOD has Dire Consequences.

Fun fact: The intent of my original post was that the cause of MechaGodzilla's malfunction is due to Aliens trying to take control (As they were actually the ones who orchestrated the construction of MechaGodzilla and System-X)

I'm not saying it's the closest to the original film. I think Singular Point would be the closest Godzilla related story Ishiro Honda himself would've appreciated--Especially since the entire story's themes rely on hard science. Shin Godzilla's themes were more concerned Japan's government policies and how that hinders their response to the people.

I love this, not just having Mechagodzilla being possesed. I dont know if thats what you were going for, but I thought rather than being possessed it was hacked which I thought was interesting.

If you want to make an authentic finish to A L I E N and P R O ME T H E U S.

There are only three matters you need to consider. 

1) Why were the Face Huggers designed to incubate in a host. 

2) Why did the Engineers incubate their creations. (The Birth of the Deacon at the end nailed what was hinted at it in the fresco.)

3) If the Gift was so important why not allow it to be the beginning of all in the traditional way. 

The Gift retconned the entire story and in a magnificent way. 

This is essentially a story about planned creation which begins with the Gift and ends with David and how those layers react to each other and what can go wrong. "The Even More Modern Prometheus."

For two people chocking on hubris to come into that tale Weyland and Elizabeth was just perfect.

I get your point on themes but dont exactly agree. I feel its a bit of a stretch to say SP was closest to 54' when films like Shin Godzilla also use science to defeat godzilla, (even if the end is a bit far fetched). And Radiation is barely mentioned in SP

But those animals are built to feed on small organisms. Godzilla is built to eat more macro sized animals, and doesnt have a way to reall eat humans. Sure hes big but we can hide is so many places,and how would he catch us without squishing us?

Going through my second watch of Singular Point, I'm struck by the parallels to Ishiro Honda's viewpoint of science. While he had a great deal of faith in science, he was also leery of its use.

As Kyoei on Twitter points out,
Ashihara used multiple singular points as a calculator. Combining them increased their temporal power and the greater that power the further into the future he could "see". However, this calculator reached the same result the further into that future Ashihara could see: The Catastrophe.

The irony is using multiple singular points, each with a competing result, is what caused the catastrophe. The battle between each point's result was literally breaking down time. The calculator is both the salvation and the cause.

Likewise, in Godzilla '54, Serizawa creates a device that could be used to destroy Godzilla, but also be used for a wider range of warfare that could eventually devastate the world. In both cases science is the source of great power and destruction. An old theme of the series that has come full circle.

I don't think Ishiro Honda would've particularly liked any Godzilla project since his death. He was already fairly critical of the Heisei series. But Singular Point might've come the closest based on its hard-fi science and adherence to themes close to his heart from the beginning.

Godzilla vs. Kong is set to be released in Japan this weekend. My English speaking source is on vacation for the next month, so until he returns I will be taking a little more time to translate the Japanese sources myself.

The covid numbers are rising again in the Tokyo area, however, which may effect numbers and potential theater restrictions. No foreign film has done very much business in Japan this year, so we'll see if Godzilla's name has any power to turn that around at the Japanese box office.

CHAPTER 14: THE HIVE

The Xenomorph Gargoyle flies past the starport crane as it turns to look down upon the starport as the prey stare up at it. The prey struggles within its grasps, the Gargoyle peels back its lips baring its silvery teeth. It opens its jaws wide, Paul could feel the saliva dripping on the back of his head.
“Don’t just bloody stand there, save me you worthless husk of bloody fucking plastic!” screamed Paul.

The Xenomorph Gargoyle fires its inner jaws into the back of his skull through his mouth. Blood comes gushing from his mouth as the gargoyle retracts its innerjaws. The gargoyle releases Paul's lifeless body, gravity pulls his corpse back to the ground. Bjorn aims his pulse rifle up in the air, he waits for the gargoyle to get closer. “94” his rules rifle ammo indicator updates itself as the caseless bullets tear off the gargoyle’s wing. The gargoyle collides into the Lancaster luxury shuttle, grey carapace and yellow acid blood splatters all over the civilian shuttle. The acid eats through the ship rendering it, compromising the hull of the ship.

“It’s blood eats its surroundings, just like the others, what are these beasts?” Akae asked.

“Species XX121 aka Xenomorphs,” Anna Williams, a woman with short brown sci-fi bob hair dressed in a white lab attire. “The xenomorphs are many things, a parasitic lifeform during their larval stages, a vicious killing machine when they are adults. Their parasitic young incorporate the DNA of their hosts. Species XX121, are very fascinating creatures. We were scheduled for a shipment containing specimens for the labs at Peak-79 however as you can see the specimens have escaped containment”

Both nagaian eyes widened in horror, before they could ask any questions. Valerie power walked over to Anna Williams. Her fists clenched, the expression on her face made her intentions clear of what she thinks of the scientist.

“Wait, wait, you knew they were on that ship? And didn’t warn the colony!” Valerie clenched her teeth before landing a slap across Dr. Williams’s face, “That was for the crew of the snuggems! This is for the colonist” she clenches her fist.

Bjorn grabs Valerie’s arm. “That is enough,”

“Just why did you bring them? Did you learn nothing about what happened on earth decades ago?” Valerie continued.

“We brought them because of what happened on earth. We were going to study them, learn about their weaknesses, and ultimately how to kill them”

“What a load of bull, that ship had already sailed! Bionational, Weyland-Yutani and Medicorp have already tried”

“There still plenty of room for research, beyond orbital bombardment, our current war technologies are barely effective against them. Innovating technology is always a Work in Progress. Besides, if we were able to study Species XX121 sooner than perhaps the infestation on earth could have been avoided!”

Valerie hangs her head low, “Yeah whatever, so did your research churn up anything useful?”

“Nothing yet,” Anna replies.

Valerie sighs in frustration.

“There is always the Berserker strategy: Kill the Queen, you cripple the hive” Anna added.

“You humans keep mentioning a queen. Do the beasts have a chieftain of somesorts?” Takashin asked.

“The Xenomorph Queen is an egglayer, she maintains absolute control over her entire brood. The Queens can lay hundreds of eggs, that is one egg per person. If we take out the queen, the xenomorphs will become directionless” Anna said matter-of-factly.

“Is it possible for a hive to have more than one queen?” Valerie asked.
“Yes, if the hive is big enough. A praetorian will molt from the eldest of the queen’s royal warriors” Anna replied.

“And what do praetorians look like?” Valerie asked. Thinking back on the large xenomorph she encountered earlier.

“They are the transition between subordinate and ruler. Body of your common variety xeno with the crest of a royal breed...” Anna looked up as she heard a loud bang. Valerie turns her back to the double doors as they begin to bulge.

“More of the monsters!” Akae growls.

The double doors burst open as a very tall creature squeezes itself through the door frame. Its head initially resembles the cigar-shaped heads of the warriors but widens at the back into a flat crest.

“What in all of creation is that thing?” asked one of the civilians.

“Is that a praetorian?” Takashin asked.

“Oh indeed it is,” Anna smiled.

The praetorian came with some guests, a few warriors and drones. Valerie was observing her surroundings, she spotted the crane lift. She looks back at the hostile creatures, that sense of dread she felt all those years keep creeping back to her. She shook her head, No not this time she thought to herself, “Hey I got a plan! Keep the smaller ones off my back”

“What do you have in mind? Ms?” Bjorn asked.

“My name is Valerie, Valerie Armstrong” she answered.

“Bjorn Erickson” the big replied, “Don’t be gone too long, Ms. Armstrong”

She nods as she bolts for the crane lift, the “smaller” xenomorphs quickly break away from the bigger one. Bjorn and those who are carrying a weapon begin opening up fire on the charging drones and warriors. The praetorian charges in with her near-flat head, she grabs one of the civilians with her claws. She clattered her teeth to scare away any humans from thinking of rescuing the captured. The praetorian then spots Valerie climbing up the crane’s ladder. The praetorian hisses to the remaining warriors to go after the fleeing girl. The armed colonists take cover from the attacking xenos, occasionally peeking out of cover to squeeze a few rounds into the biomechanical monsters.

“We got to keep these bastards away from Valerie!” Bjorn fires a shotgun into a smooth headed drone, blowing off its jaws then arm.

The ladder vibrated violently, Valerie held on to the ladder for dear life till the vibrations stopped. Only to be replaced with the clinking and clanking of claws against metal. Valerie glances down to see a xenomorph warrior climbing up the ladder. Valerie hastens her rate of climb as the warrior gains on her. Valerie makes it to the top, she reaches for the electronic door. The warrior grabs her by the wrist and tries to pull her down to the floor, Valerie swings around her M41A Pulse Rifle.

“Eat this!” She unloads half a clip into the warrior, bits and pieces of its carapace fly off its frame. The warrior releases Valerie as it stumbles over the ledge, Valerie quickly makes it back to the electronic door. The warrior in an act of defiance impales Valerie with its tail, the sharp stinger burrows through her synthetic body’s abdominal region. Fatal to an organic but not to a synthetic. Valerie continued to enter the cabin of the crane, she shits the electronic door on the warrior’s tail. The warrior hisses sporadically as it falls to its death.

Valerie operates the crane, she orders the electromagnet to pick up the damaged Lancaster luxury shuttle. She nudges the crane to hover the damaged spacecraft above the praetorian. Valerie releases the shuttle from her magnet, the Landcaster comes crashing down on top of the Praetorian. Crushing its back, limbs, and tail; leaving its head unscathed. It fruitlessly thrashes its inner jaws at the prey, before succumbing to its wounds.

“Okay, Bjorn. We should evacuate the remaining civilians. Make sure everyone gets onboard that old Dropship” Valerie spoke through the cabin’s microphone. Which allowed her to broadcast her voice to the speakers.
Bjorn nodded as he led the civilians in the old dropship. Valerie opened the electronic door as she stepped out, she gazed across the horizon to see a flock of giant birds come their way. She squints her synthetic eyes to zoom in closer, they weren’t birds.

Valerie double timed down the ladder, the metal of the ladder burned against her synthetic skin. She lands on her feet before turning around to the ships. The dropship was getting ready to lift off, Valerie bolted towards the dropship. “Bjorn, I’m going to need your help” she walks over to him.

“With what?” he asked.

“Setting the Snuggems to self detonate,”

“Wait, I thought you didn’t want to go anywhere near that ship?”

“It's true, I don’t want to go back to that place… but there is a flock of flying xenomorphs heading to our location. We must take out the queen, otherwise we lose another world to them” Valerie then glances over at takashin and takae, “They will lose their only world...to them”

Bjorn looks over at the pilot, he nods for the pilots to take over as he walks up to Valerie. “I will help you, Ms. Armstrong” he reloads his Pulse Rifle, “Lead the way” The sounds of spacecraft engines roar as another luxury starcraft leaves the starport.

“Wait, who left?” Valerie asked.

“Anna Williams, the researcher,” Bjorn replied.
“What is she doing?” Valerie bolts out of the dropship as Bjorn follows her.

“Forget about her, we have bigger fish to fry” Bjorn points at the incoming flying xeno swarm.

“My ship, let's go!” Valerie ordered.

The Dropship retracts its ramp as it becomes airborne. It tucks in its landing gears before taking off into orbit while Bjorn and Valerie bolt towards the Videl. Valerie quickly dons her helmet before punching in the buttons and flipping the switches to get her spacecraft airbourne. The Videl lifts off. Valerie directs the Videl over the colony Scott Town. Xenomorphs everywhere, they all look up and stare as the Videl soars above them.

The xenomorphs on the ground disengage with their previous actions as they all slowly begin to follow the Videl. The xenomorphs in the air quickly turn their flock towards the Videl. “Looks like we got their attention” Bjorn observed.

“Yeah, looks like it,” Valerie agrees. A xenomorph gargoyle zooms past her fuselage, was it ignoring her? In the distance they saw a familiar ship landed on top of the snuggems.

“Wait, isn't that Ms. William’s ship?” Bjorn asks.

“Oh boy,” Valerie sighed. An electrical sensation courses through her head, she is drawing closer to the hive. She briefly hallucinates the queen’s visage peering through her cockpit. Valerie tries to ignore it, which only angers the hallucination. Then the hallucination disappears abruptly. Valerie carefully lands her craft on top of the snuggems.

Locale: Planet Nagaigo, USCSS Snuggem, Hive Interior.

Anna Williams was taken by the xenomorph drones to be cocooned, they placed an egg near her. Anna takes a deep breath as she bites into the medicine cap in her back tooth. “What that synthetic bitch doesn’t know, I have a contingency plan for everything. Including using myself as an incubator, Mr. Mishima.. I mean the Weyland-Yutani Corporation will have to give me a promotion after this…” She smiled mischievously, “I sure hope this works” she began to doubt herself. The egg peels open, Anna takes another deep breath as the facehugger screams on its way out of the egg.

Valerie and Bjorn slowly made their way into the upper deck of the starship. They slowly made their way down to the middle deck. Valerie would constantly ever so often look around frantically.

“What's the matter?” Bjorn was worried about his companion’s mental state.

“I don’t know but sometimes I get these episodes where I feel their presence…” Valerie attempts to explain.

“You feel them? How?” Bjorn asked with doubt in his voice.

“I don’t know? It's not often either, it's like a sixth sense but it doesn’t always work..” Valerie explained, “There” she points, “Hide!” Bjorn’s doubts quickly vanished as a pack of five warriors were crawling on the ceiling.

“We got one more level, then we will reach the reactor” Bjorn reassures Valerie as she starts to enter another episode. “Valerie?”

Valerie tries to suppress her hallucinations, she then hears Bjorn’s voice. “I’m alright, lets go” she nodded her head.

They reached the reactor core after an hour of making d-tours to avoid company, the coolant controls were typical of those found on M-Class Star Freighters. Valerie collapses herself on the coolant system, she lifts herself up as she concentrates to not allow the hallucinations to stop her from completing her task. One by One, She pulls out the four metal handles then screws them each into place. She pulls the handles up then flips the inside switches from green to red. Coolant was now being pulled from the active reactor.

“DANGER, THE EMERGENCY DESTRUCT SEQUENCE HAS NOW BEEN ACTIVATED. THE SHIP WILL SELF-DESTRUCT IN T-MINUS, TEN MINUTES. THE OPTION TO OVERRIDE AUTOMATIC DETONATION WILL EXPIRE IN T-MINUS, FIVE MINUTES” the ship’s onboard MUTHUR mainframe announced.

The xenomorph queen arose her massive head, she peels back her thin lips barring her sword-like teeth. Spit and drool ran down from her jaws, her children quickly began their trek through the ship. Meanwhile the medicine Anna took wakes her up to the self destruct alarm. She glances at the dead facehugger now laying dead on the floor, she flexes her arm muscle, her life-like synthetic hand disconnects from her amputee stump. The hand moves on its own before reconnecting back to the stump. A blade emerged from her synthetic hand’s wrist, which she uses to cut herself free from the resin. A lone xenomorph worker crawls over to Anna, she quickly sprays herself with xeno-perfume to mask her human scent. The worker sticks out its long pink tongue before resuming its daily chores. Anna sneaks her way through the corridors.

Valerie and Bjorn run past Anna’s position, missing the shortcut to the outside. Anna seizes her opportunity to escape through the shortcut, she runs into a xenomorph warrior. The warrior extended its inner jaws before retracting them, the perfume tricks its sense of smell. Anna was free to leave the Snuggems. Valerie and Bjorn turn around when they hear a hiss coming from the door they passed earlier.
“THE OPTION TO OVERRIDE AUTOMATIC DETONATION WILL EXPIRE IN T-MINUS, THREE MINUTES”

Valerie burns the xenomorph with her flamethrower, the other xenomorphs soon converge on their location. Bjorn and Valerie blast away the oncoming xenomorphs now surrounding the shortcut. “87” Valerie’s ammo indicator updates. “81” Bjorn’s ammo indicator updates. Valerie glanced at her flamethrower fuel gauge, “78%”

More xenomorphs hiss in the distances, Bjorn and Valerie make it to the shortcut door. Taking the maintenance tunnel directly to the outside of the Snuggem’s hull. Valerie climbs first up the ladder, while Bjorn follows suit. Mid climb, a sharp hiss filled the maintenance tunnel, Bjorn looks down and sees a xenomorph beginning to climb up the ladder. “Climb faster!” he shouts to Valerie.

“Shit! Shit!” Valerie curses as she increases her rate of climbing. Bjorn followed a step behind her. The xenomorph is about twentyseven steps behind the both of them. “THE SHIP WILL AUTOMATICALLY DESTRUCT IN T-MINUS FIVE MINUTES”

Meanwhile Anna Williams runs over to her ship, she trips as she clutches her chest feeling the neonate chestburster moving around in her chest. A xenomorph gargoyle lands on the snuggem’s exterior. It spots Anna Williams, her xeno-perfume is starting to wear off. The xenomorph approaches Anna but hesitates once it senses the chestburster growing within her. Anna’s escape ship opens its bay doors, deploying a ramp down. A Large synthetic comes walking down the ramp. He carries a massive caliber of sniper rifle.

He targets the nagaian spawned xeno, “Hasta la vista, baby!” The moment he pulls the trigger, the gargoyle’s head comes apart like a popped balloon as the gargoyle is thrown from the Snuggems. He holsters his rifle on his back while he carefully retrieves Anna to bring her back to the ship.

Anna looks up at her personal synthetic bodyguard, “JACK…” she starts coughing. The Synthetic places her in the cryostasis pod, before administering her a blue-gelatinous serum. JACK turns around to secure the bay doors. “Williams, Anna. Is Secured”

“Good, proceed with extraction” the computer spoke. JACK walks to the flight controls. He sits down while he operates the control. He spots in the video feeds, two survivors fleeing the maintenance shaft. “Witnesses. Shall I terminate?” JACK asks the computer.

“You don’t have time, proceed with extraction as ordered” the computer transmitted.

“Yes, Master Mishima” JACK complied. He revs up the ship’s engines before taking off into the air. JACK’s afterburners are all that Bjorn and Valerie see from the fleeing spacecraft.

Valerie and Bjorn run over to the Videl, from the sky a Gargoyle breaks away from her flock as she dives bombs the Snuggems. Valerie and Bjorn both shoot the Gargoyle out of the sky, the xenomorph falls to the snuggems dead on arrival. Her wounds bleed on to the ship’s hull melting through the decks like a hot knife through butter. The xenomorph on the ground quickly swarms the snuggem, climbing up its hulls like massive ants. “YOU NOW HAVE ONE MINUTE TO ABANDON SNUGGEMS… THE SNUGGEMS WILL SELF DESTRUCT IN T-MINUS ONE MINUTE”

Bjorn hops into the Videl first, Valerie seats herself second. She puts on her helmet. Punching in buttons and flipping switches, the instruments to the Videl sing their electronic tunes. Valerie revs her ship’s engines, a lone xenomorph drone leaps on to the Videl as she takes off the Snuggems as she becomes airborne.

The gargoyle flock swarms towards the Videl. The drone attempts to smash its head into the cockpit but Videl accelerates the starcraft causing the drone to lose its footing as it slides off the fuselage onto the Videl’s wing. The xenomorph climbs on the twin engine booster, in its desperation to reach the fuselage. The xenomorph leaps off the booster engines however as the ship is in acceleration, the booster engines end up frying the drone.

The Snuggems engine room engine emits a light, a light that engulfs the queen’s chamber, then the entire ship. The Snuggems explode into a massive dome of light before evolving into a dark mushroom cloud. With the queen’s death, the gargoyles are thrown into a state of shock as they plummet into the burning inferno below.
