Today marks the opening of San Diego's annual Comic-Con, where forthcoming science fiction, fantasy, and comic book movies are showcased to a gathering of thousands of fans. Before the usual panels, previews, trailers and Q&A sessions the opening night of the SDCC is usually when studios and production companies will showcase props, costumes and merchandise relating to the hotly anticipated movies in production. Last year the opening night of the SDCC saw Warner Bros showcase the costumes of Batman v Superman's three leading characters.
Despite having just enjoyed the Star Wars celebration event last weekend in the UK Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has made a surprise appearance at the SDCC showing off the practical costume of one of its previously unrevealed characters; Edrio Two Tubes...
The lifesize replica of the Rogue One character was on display at the Lucasfilm pavilion. Edrio is said to a mercenary pilot with grievances against the Empire, according to the official character description...
The two share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows their Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres. Edrio’s home world Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. Desiring to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera.
