Lucasfilm have released the following video to announce to fans that the the as-of-yet untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII has begun production. The video includes the closing moments of Star Wars: The Force Awakens as well as some behind the scenes footage from filming that took place late last year at Michael Skellig in Ireland wth director Rian Johnson and his crew.

Production begun at Pinewood studios last Wednesday in London, England. Filming was due to begin last month, but was delayed until today because of script rewrites, likely in response to some of the criticisms Star Wars: The Force Awakens recieved from fans and critics. Production will also move at a later date to Mexico.

Star Wars: Episode VIII will open in theatres wordlwide December 15th 2017.
