It would appear that the Tom Hardy lead Venom Movie by Sony will in fact feature the horrifying Symbiote spawn Carnage as its primary antagonist! According to a fresh report by The Hollywood Reporter, the Venom movie will exist in an adjacent universe to that of Spider-Man: Homecoming, adding that Tom Holland may even make an appearance in the Venom spin-off films and various other Marvel installments:
As for the expansion plans, Tom Hardy is starring in Venom, dated for Oct. 5, 2018, which will also feature the villain Carnage. A source says Holland is only contractually obligated to Spider-Man 2 and 3, but the intention is to bring him into the spinoffs and possibly other Marvel films (he is currently shooting Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War).
Carnage was the spawn of Venom. During a time when Eddie Brock shared a prison cell with the psychotic murderer Cletus Kasady, a portion / spawn of Venom was left behind - which eventually found Kasady and bonded with him. Carnage adopted all of the psychotic traits of Kasady which essentially made for an incredibly powerful, but equally incredibly insane Symbiotic monstrosity - one that proved to be more than a match for Venom.
Tom Hardy has been cast to play Eddie Brock, but we have yet to learn of who might play Cletus Kasady. If you have an actor in mind, be sure to share your thoughts with us below!
